  1. This looks about right. Given the tough lefty, I figured they would try and get Yelich and Turang a day off... Would be nice to give Frelick and Vaughn a day off as well, but not sure what options they really have since we're down so many outfielders. We should have a solid bench if we need a late PH though Yelich Turang Seigler Time to find some luck in unlikely places again. Here's to 15 in a row!
  2. I definitely don't miss the LOOGY days. That made games really long. Side note- took my wife and kids to a game last week for the first time in a couple years. Normally, my wife hates baseball and compares it to watching paint dry. That said: - she was "refreshed" by the style of play and newcomer/hustle guys on our roster - she commented several times about how the new "speed" rules (pitch clock, MVR, limited throws to 1st) has made the game much more watchable - The comeback and then Collins with the walkoff didn't hurt Both my oldest daughter and wife have indicated the desire to attend another game soon This Brewers team is darn fun!
  3. Fair point... I just think in previous seasons (maybe this was the old CC regime that is now tanking in Chicago), we would play "not to lose" and were more worried about resting guys and avoiding injuries in the late stages of the season with a big division lead rather than giving it our regular go
  4. Unpopular take here.... Probably because I've been demoralized most of the past 35 years as a fan (since 1991 for the TC crew & for my entire life as a Brewers fan (save a couple weeks in 2018) Anyone else worried that we are peaking too early? Loved Yeli's comment yesterday about the streak saying that the crew hasn't accomplished anything yet, and what happens in October will be what counts. When you're coming back from 5-0 and 8-1 during the recent 24-1 stretch, hard not to feel invincible, but we've been red hot before, only to struggle when it counts in the playoffs. It still doesn't compute that we've gone from catching the Cubs from way back, to almost now a 10 game lead. Our team culture will hopefully make the difference this go-around, but I'm wondering if a little adversity over the next couple of weeks that takes things back a notch a bit maybe would be for the best so we can rediscover a hot streak going into the postseason like 2018, and so we stay hungry the whole way. With the tougher schedule coming up, maybe this will align perfectly My biggest fear as a fan remains that we'll clinch "too early", and having in essence the ability to coast the last 10-15 games of the year (and then some time off during the wildcard) might cost us that edge. Constantly amazed (through the injuries) how just about everyone has stepped up when it was their turn to be the difference. Let's go crew!
  5. That could be a huge weapon for us if he could do that... With likely only needing 3 starters in the playoffs, that seems right. I'd prefer Woody, Peralta, Priester, but we'll probably get Peralta, Woody, Priester. Not sure what Q's role would be?
  6. Insane amount of free advertising they get every time the Brewers go on a winning streak. The "free burgers" prediction has to be one of the most successful local marketing promotions ever I think they've only had to pay our twice, and the amount of new business those two times generated for them probably dwarfs the amount of cost the free burgers had
  7. That is pretty crazy indeed. I didn't realize we had that much turnover... but also makes me realize just how many young players we currently have on our roster. For the young players at the MLB level (that were in the minors during the Stearns era), you could make an argument that those players should still be considered part of the Stearns admin
  8. Dang! Going to the game again tomorrow (first game of the season today, and now back to back) and was hoping to avoid seeing Q... Hopefully we can celebrate burgers on Thursday (following Wednesday's 4th consecutive sweep)
  9. We're heading to the game today, and I've been worried about this. Especially with more rain on its way for mid-afternoon... I haven't seen anything via the media yet. Anyone else hear something?
  10. Managing expectations my friend.... that said, let's go for the kill. We've had quality brewers teams in the past that would play well, but could never put our opponent away. Hoping we can continue to be aggressive and play to win rather than "not to lose". I know this is VERY early, but I've actually started to worry that we'll win the division and lock up a top 1-2 seed too early, and we'll lose momentum by resting our guys the last week/two of the season. I hope we can avoid that this time around. Play to the bell (game 162)... the only season in the past 10 that we did that (2018 because we didn't win the division until the last game) was also the season that we had our best success (within 1 game of the WS)
  11. I'll echo some of the comments about Woody above. He looks fantastic right now, though its only been 5-6 starts. With some of the younger guys likely to have some growing pains at some point, it would be really beneficial to have that steady veteran mentor who can also take the ball in the deciding game of a playoff series. No idea what it would take, but Woody does have that long-term "Franchise player" pedigree that Braun, Yelich, and other long term signs have had. Given the underwhelming return (atleast in the moment) for Hader, Burnes, and Williams, maybe we try to run it back next year (to defend our WS win of course) with Woody & Peralta, and let the young guns (Miz, Priester, Henderson, Patrick) continue to gel, with Ashby, Hall, Gasser, and Myers continuing their bullpen/spot start roles. Do we try to get anything done with Turang, Frelick (who both have a couple years of solid performance under their belt), and atleast see what it would take to lock in some of the younger rookies?
  12. Heading to our first game of the season today! Following the crazy rain last night, anything that might be impacted by the flooding? We have a couple littles in tow, and I figured (given the 10" in rain last night) that the Helfaer Field stuff today is likely cancelled, but maybe the crowd will be a bit late arriving due to the rain to allow for more time to explore inside before it gets crowded. Pumped that it looks like sellout #7 in a row today! Hopefully we can make it 9 in a row with QP on the mound
