  1. Is it weird to be more confident the Brewers are going to score with nobody on base?
  2. Hiura made plenty of adjustments to his swing and approach this offseason, to the tune where his k rate has plummeted...he deserves another extended look to see if those changes translate to MLB success. I guess the Brewers would rather have Jones DHing and hitting 8th with Winker riding the MLB pine against a marginal RHP
  3. If you look at Cleveland's current payroll and what it would need to be in order to retain just 1/2 of all the homegrown talent recently brought up onto the roster, you'd understand why they will likely need to do some sort of rebuild/retooling between now and 2028ish. When that time comes, I have my doubts Ramirez stays put so they can trade away younger talent, or just let it walk via free agency. I'll make you a deal: If JRam gets dealt (to any team) during his current contract, I will stop posting on this site. I will be gone. If he does not get dealt during this current contract, you write me an apology, Lol, I'll get my apology out of the way right now so there's no worry for me to forget - I'm sorry me posting about a player on the team you root for on a different team's internet message board tied directly to "transaction rumors/proposals" has you so wound up. And trust me, I and probably everyone else on this board won't hold you to your end of the bargain after Ramirez does get traded sometime over the next 5 seasons.
  4. I think it's solely because the AAA team has a heap of guys who play 3rd on occasion, and the Brewers probably don't want to lose any of them as AAAA filler at this point of the year and want Black to get everyday playing time at 3rd defensively. He's just fine down in AA for a bit longer - the bat is likely MLB ready right now, but his glove isn't. I think he may also be a potential significant trade chip as part of some tentative trade discussions if the Brewers are going to go big at the deadline, and keeping Black right where he is maximizes his value because he's not on the 40 man roster.
  5. Plenty of players with a NTC get dealt - Ramirez likely wanted it so he wouldn't ever get shipped to a city/team he wouldn't want to play in because he was constantly in trade rumors before that extension. I'm not saying it's happening this offseason, but it will happen before that contract ends if CLE finds itself needing a rebuild and Ramirez wants to go after a title, particularly if the team/city he'd be going to resembles the environment he's played his whole career in to date. I started this thread because he's the ideal player at the ideal position the Brewers could acquire and instantly be considered a world series threat if their pitching depth in the rotation gets healthy. If they make moves at this year's deadline i want them to make a splash, because they're going to incrementally improve just by getting guys like woodruff and ashby back healthy shortly after the deadline (hopefully).
  6. It's too soon to do so, but once Frelick is totally settled in how much fun will he be batting leadoff in front of Yelich? Have a game, young man!
  7. Agreed that if Hiura had hit better in 2021 he would have stayed up...those position changes for 2020 and 2021 seasons probably didn't help hiura settle in and just focus on hitting either, plus his mother was going through alot of health problems during that time that were weighing on him. The really frustrating part for me is the Brewers could have saved themselves about $16 M in payroll (or used it to improve other parts of their roster) and likely gotten better offensive production from the DH spot, a position where defensive value means zilch, had they just handed it to Hiura and put him in the 6 or 7 spot in the lineup in 2022 and to open 2023 instead of signing McCutcheon or taking a shot with Winker post surgery.
  8. I think the wiemer move down to AAA for a few weeks happens post trade deadline if they acquire a bat...then you bring him back up for September when rosters expand a little Pumped for Frelick...hopeful that Hiura isn't far behind
  9. I think it's more to do with CC's management style and crummy timing with his development. Hiura had options while other veteran hitters on the 40 man didn't, so he was always the first man sent back to Nashville to maintain roster "flexibility" and not allowed an extended leash to work his way out of struggles at the MLB level that most highly regarded hitting prospects deserve. So, Hiura has instead slogged through the previous 4 seasons without a defined role in this organization. He's a poor defender and the team seems intent on spending 8-9 million a year for average at best veteran DHs instead of going into a season with Hiura as that option at a much lower cost (or spending a bit more to get a better option at what i think should be a key roster spot for this organization), so unless those guys are permanently released midseason he can't be brought up and actually get extended everyday ABs. IMO the Covid year really screwed Hiura up and came at the worst time for his MLB development, which also included a series of position changes to try and fit his bat into the lineup...there wasn't a minor league season going on to send him down in 2020 to work on things when he struggled, and there was no option for video in the clubhouse or extended work/practice due to pandemic angst.
  10. What on earth are Winkers rest of season projections based on? If any of his stats before the 2022 season started play a factor at all, they're trash considering he suffered what is likely to be a career debilitating neck injury last year and never will be the player he was 2+ seasons ago. Based in his body of work this season, including sporadic ABs since coming off the IL in mid June, there is zero chance Winker comes close to that production. We might never find out for sure though, as he barely ever gets in the lineup anymore. As for his salary and service time, who cares?
  11. Cute, but is there an advanced stat out there that justifies Winker having that roster spot over Hiura or Urias right now?
  12. 100 with sink...stick with that one Abner
  13. Probably caused alot by all those double digit K games in pretty short order, lol Sheets spent zero time on the IR...now the DL on the other hand...
  14. I feel like in the games Sheeter got to double digits, he was in the teens often and not just scraping by with 10 punchouts
  15. Should've bet my house on the 'over' for Burnes K's today
  16. Ugh, that's one of those random things that I don't like seeing late in a game that suddenly makes the game more interesting than it needs to be
  17. I hope you're not including the last ~6 or 7 1st round picks as part of Brewer draft woes...but from a few front offices ago, absolutely.
  18. It's part of his offensive game that hadn't yet started showing up at the MLB level consistently - he's always been able to get on base even when he hasn't hit, so his stolen base/baserunning ability has improved his offensive value to help offset the lack of slugging.
  19. It's Perkins' spot with 1st and 2nd and 1 out that was the maddening decision to bunt with two strikes. Turang drew 2 walks in a sac bunt situation
