  1. Mark Canha last 2 weeks of the regular season after getting a mid-September cortisone shot to relieve pain from an ailing left wrist to avoid the IL: 0.529 OPS with a 0.180 average and 0.256 slugging Sure, let's stick with him at cleanup in a do or die game after his o-fer night there last night🤬
  2. Thinking people have generally gotten better at groups taking just 1 or 2 vehicles to the game instead of 6 people arriving in 6 vehicles, too. There has been an impact with Uber/Lyft - but also an impact of designated drivers (all good things) Plus on a tuesday night, I doubt the playoff game attendance is full of fans from far reaches of WI, too. And the dbacks aren't an opponent where you're going to see their fans driving up for the game compared to Midwest teams. I'd be curious to know what those back lots looked like over this past weekend with the Cubs in town.
  3. What's most egregious is pinch hitting for Turang in the 8th last night in a 1 run game with a guy who actually has less power and ability to get on base than Turang does.
  4. I think it's just as much to do with Tampa Bay also being 3-1...two best teams in their divisions recordwise playing each other is an auto flex game. The week 6 slate is full of a bunch of dog games that weren't already in primetime at the moment, too - with the exception of San Fran at Cleveland there's no other Sunday noon matchup worth flexing at this point.
  5. Why didn't we start Caratini? He's Corbin's personal catcher for a reason, so why didn't we start him in the biggest game of Burnes' career? Because we had to keep a slumping Canha, the one with a bum wrist that is apparently feeling the impact of a cortisone shot from a few weeks ago wearing off, in the lineup as our DH hitting cleanup. He was surrounded by players in the lineup who got on base multiple times - his spot in the order killed several scoring opportunities throughout a game where getting baserunners was the farthest thing from a problem offensively.
  6. No the worst part would be that she was making it up and Hill got a $300K insurance payment for filing an assault claim that was fraudulent. Meanwhile Bauer, for all his unlikeable qualities, is now forever known as a rapist/sexual assault predator in the public eye and his career earnings as a baseball player and post-pitching career will wind up being 9 figures less than he would have made had he never been suspended based on a lie. The result of this by no means helps cases where there are legitimate crimes that are tough to prosecute based on he said/she said evidence moving forward...but it definitely will lead to enabling more of these type of false accusations knowing there aren't significant consequences for making them.
  7. It was obvious by the time the calendar got to May that Winker was washed as a MLB hitter and he was an expensive bounceback candidate/flyer gone wrong in an offseason trade - but credit to the Brewers for taking a sunk cost with his $8+M salary and making it even more painful with continued onfield futility mixed between navigating him through a season full of questionable IL stints and endless minor league rehab assignments to keep him on that 40 man roster for when they needed him the most in October.
  8. well, then it's not worth complaining about the playoff format when the Brewers aren't better at baseball than the two teams most deserving of representing the NL in the World Series. Be happy the Brewers once again got to the dance - it's just too bad they fell into the punch bowl and likely will be headed home to change out of their uniforms before the playoffs really even get rolling.
  9. Then be better in the regular season so you can rest up for the 2nd round like the Dodgers and Braves in the NL.
  10. I honestly didn't pay attention to their roster before the game and couldn't watch every moment. 1st time I knew Winker was even in Milwaukee was after I saw him walking up to the plate in the 8th and thought I was transported to an early May game...absolutely insane. Winker himself isn't the reason the Brewers lost tonight...but the organizational mentality to even have Winker on a playoff series roster has played a big part in why this team can't perform in the playoffs. Seems to me like Canha is probably injured, too (didn't he get a cortisone shot recently??) with a bad wrist - yet he's tonight's cleanup hitter. This damn team can't help itself but show up to October on fumes, no matter what the last few seasons.
  11. I can already picture the Brewers blowing a late lead tomorrow night because they managed to gas an entire bullpen during a loss after their ace couldn't get out of the 5th inning Sigh...
  12. This game is an advertisement for going back to just two divisions in the NL so teams like this don't make the playoffs
  13. Took a break from the game only to come back to watch Winker k on 3 straight to open the bottom of the 8th...turning it back off now, as some things never change for this damn team come playoff time. Why in the hell is Winker on this roster?
  14. I wasn't necessarily responding directly to you in my previous post - in general agreed... Specific to Bakhtiari - honestly I think the best thing the Packers can do for short-, mid-, and longterm outlook of their franchise is set plans in place for his eventual roster cut at the start of the next league year, and use the rest of this season to evaluate if they have their longterm answer at LT currently on the roster or if they need to find one in the 2024 draft. And don't shy away from that question in public - flat out indicate that they feel for Bakh with this injury, but it's part of this sport and the Packers as an organization have to move on. Even if Bakh makes a full recovery AND can still play next season, I highly doubt he's going to be willing to sign some team-friendly vet minimum contract. There's no way the Packers should want to keep him on the 2024 roster under his current contract - and frankly I don't see the point of even trying to explore a restructure that extends any future years with him to try and avoid having to cut him and potentially add a couple more seasons to the contract. Deal with that ~$19M dead cap hit on their 2024 cap ledger and move forward with a clean slate afterwards. If he makes it back healthy and plays a few more seasons at a high level elsewhere, great for him - the Packers shouldn't have any more desire for that to be in Green Bay based on how the last 3 years have gone. Take Bakh off the OL on this year's roster in terms of talking about how good it is or isn't. I think the Packers need to do several things over the course of October to better assess their O line needs next offseason: Get Jenkins healthy and back at the starting LG position. Make sure Royce Newman is released or no longer a starting or initial backup option at guard Give Sean Ryan a shot at guard snaps or potentially center if Myers' inconsistent play continues into November - he simply cannot be a worse option than Newman Flip Tom and Walker at tackle positions, consider Nijman as well.
  15. haven't watched much at all of the Bengals this year...what's going on in Cincy?
  16. Packers 2-2 and could easily be 3-1 or 1-3. Two very winnable games coming up over a stretch that also hopefully gets some key guys back healthy and able to go the full game. Lions are clearly the better squad now, but Packers have a legit shot at a playoff berth in the NFL with their schedule, and that's all you can hope for in this type of transition season with such a young team. let's see where they are when the calendar hits November...
  17. Saw some stuff shown on film from early on in last night's game - a big part of the reason there didn't seem to be any quick developing routes for Love to get the ball out before the pass rush collapsed the pocket was the fact Love just wasn't pulling the trigger on several quick breaking slants where he had guys open. That opening sack he had Doubs open in the slot and was looking right at him and didn't throw it. There were several other instances where he had 1st reads open right away and held the ball - part of the development process, and there was definitely problems with play calling and terrible line play that got this team in such an early hole against a more talented opponent with all the injuries the Packers had out, but some of that blame has to be put on Love not throwing on time.
  18. A few weeks ago I dreamed of this scenario for this series - Brewers getting geared up for the playoff series and casually snuff the Cub playoff chances out to end the regular season. It just doesn't get any better - tomorrow will be a fun night at the ballpark
  19. What the hell are the lions doing with branch still on the field?
  20. A mindless penalty, but he's not pushing other coaches on the sideline and probably has half the teams tackles tonight.
  21. Lol, they have to go for it here again
  22. Ugh...just more foolish penalties.
  23. They also tried playing him in off coverage a ton early, which isn't his strength at all. Back to the game, looks like Detroit is going to funnel everything through their backs and just suck the life out of the 4th quarter. Need a stop right here, and wouldn't surprise me if the lions went for it on 4th
  24. Unless he gets injured trying to run through d lineman at the goal line.
  25. Wondering why the nfl doesn't have a buzzer at end of quarter clocks
