  1. I don't have a clue if Braun is good or great at this early point in his career, but I do know that Braun's HR today during his bobble head day is notable. It may be selective memory but it seems to me that bobble head days are a mini-curse on the the Brewer being honored. I remember the particularly gruesome Turnbow bobble head day on May 13th, 2006. Derrick came in to save the game and blew it in dramatic fashion. While it would be a few weeks until the wheels officially came off - this was the beginning of the end for "good Turnbow".c Braun's HR shows he has the ability to even overcome bad bobble head mojo.
  2. I was at the game sitting on Club Level on the 3rd base side. Branyan's home run from my perspective looked like it almost hit the concession stand at the top of the Dew Deck. I was also at the Maddux game where Branyan hit that moster shot - at that game I was sitting in the Terrace Level close to the foul pole on the 1st base side near the front row. I swear Branyan's I was still looking up at the shot as it travelled past us THAT FAR back. Unbelievable shot. I can't believe FSN/WMLW missed today's homerun.
  3. My wife, son and I will be there for Sunday's game sitting in the Pavillion. Staying at the Bulfinch Hotel.
  4. Hi all, I attended Saturday's game and noticed between innings they ran an ad on the video board for Boys & Girls Club featuring Prince Fielder in full Brewers home uniform. Did anyone else see this? My comments are kinda of silly but I got goosebumps seeing Prince in an ad in uniform. He came across so real and likeable I was struck that he has a huge future on the endorsement side of things if he stays out of trouble. I'm in my late 30's so I remember what it was like when Brett Favre started filming commercials - it was rough for him early on. It wasn't until well after the Super Bowl win that he created the on camera persona that America admires. Prince appears to have it already. Add to this his notable awareness to non-baseball issues (I saw him run out on Opening Day at Wrigley to get Jesse Jackson to sign a bat and run back to the dugout like a little kid giggling) I believe we have the potential makings of a truly special person here - not just baseball player. Anyway, Prince could be part of a very special team in Milwaukee history and I'm fully enjoying it.
  5. Among your choices I would go with Brussels since it houses the primary institutions of the EU. The EU is still in its infancy, but they're growing in member states and the relative strength of the Euro make it more significant by the day. The value of any experience with the EU would repay you many times over. As an aside, if you have any opportunity to study in Asia, specifically China, India or Indonesia I would say jump at it. Asia is still a mystery to so many westerners and I believe immersion is the best way to learn. Again, experience in any of the three nations I listed above will reward you monetarily and dramatically enrich you personally. Best of luck. Let us know what you decide.
  6. I really liked Damian and thought he was a solid catcher - considering we had just come from a Chad Moeller/Gary Bennett catching pairing. I've always hoped Damian would be considered as a replacement for Bill Schroeder. Damian obviously understands the game, if from Wisconsin so he can appreciate the culture and is a halarious story teller. Perhaps the Brewers could do something like the Bucks are doing this year easing Scott Williams in to replace John McGlocklin by adding him in some way to the telecast?
  7. Non-fiction is all I read and I'm a very easy audience, but I'll try to narrow it down to a couple of books that I've truly enjoyed over the past year: - "Everybody Pays" by Rick Kogan and Maurice Pousley - excellent true chicago mafia account of a regular blue collar guy who witnesses a mob hit while walking his dog and the devastating impact it has on his life - great book - "Legacy of Ashes" by Tim Wiener - a fully on record history of the CIA from the end of the WWII until present. I just finished this book a couple of weeks ago and its sticking with me. Very disconcerting. Completely blows any popular perceptions that our CIA does good things we never hear about - rather it rarely has done anything correctly. - "Confucius" & "The Teachings of Confucius" by Jonathan Clements - unfortunately to many Westerners Confucius is all about fortune cookie sayings - these two fairly quick reads provide a history of Confucius and his complete writings illustrating his advanced philosophies from 2500 years ago that are peaceful, rational and completely non-threatening to any religious belief systems - "Rivals" by James Naughtie - for Anglophiles this is a must read on the famous deal between Gordon Brown and Tony Blair at the Granita restaurant in 1994 setting up Blair for the premiership and Brown as the most powerful Chancellor in the history of the UK - particularly insightful considering Brown's recent succession and his early difficulties This list could keep you busy for a few weeks. Good reading!
  8. I've always admired Capuano for his intelligence and determination. There's something about him that just seems to indicate a guy whose never satisified always looking for something to provide an edge. The link below cements my beliefs, his list and reasoning shows this is a guy who truly is living in and enjoying Milwaukee. There hasn't been anything written about it, but his production decline coincided with him taking that fast ball off his leg in late April/early May. I wonder if he's been playing hurt since then and the groin strain is a result of him dealing with it. Just speculation. Anyway, enjoy the link. www.onmilwaukee.com/sport...otop5.html
