  1. Considering Doug went on the radio and admitted that there were a few minor leaguers he considered untouchable the inclusion of LaPorta in any deal seems unlikely to me. Add to that the fact that we would be trading two of doug's "big 5" and I just can't believe it. Not only that but we would be trading Escobar who plays middle infield and we currently have two guys at that position approaching free agency that haven't been all that spectacular. (JJ's current hitting streak aside) We have very little organizational depth at either middle infield spot and we trade away our top prospect and our top MI? Why would we do that when we could give them Salome or Brantly who both play positions that we have good depth at? Any combination of two of the big 5 or jefferess is way too much to give up for a 3 month rental of any player. If that was the proposal I think CC would be a Brewer already as nobody else currently bidding would be able to match that price without throwing in young proven major league players.
  2. Giving up Laporta and Escobar seems way to steep if you ask me. I would think LaPorta straight up would be pretty close considering it is only 3 months of Sabathia. Rosenthal said in his article that he was told be rival executives that the offer was LaPorta and Escobar. "The Brewers' offer for Sabathia includes Class AA left fielder Matt LaPorta, according to sources with two other clubs that are interested in acquiring the pitcher." It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Clevland was telling these other clubs this in an attempt to get better offers. Although if I'm on of those rival executives I would probably just bow out considering that would be a tough package to beat. The only way I could see that offer being true is if Doug Melvin fears that the Indians will drag it out and he will be outbid at the last minute and be stuck playing out the rest of the year without a significant upgrade. In which case the offer seems hasty and apprehensive which doesn't sound like Melvin at all.
  3. He does seem condescending but to be fair he has to wade through questions from all of the "sky is falling" type of folks which would probably wear me a little thin as well (even though I can be one of them sometimes). I think his ladder reference was refering to the reader being up on a high horse not a Napoleon thing.

  7. Maybe that is what hardicourt is talking about when he said at the end of his blog to stay tuned for "interesting" news on Bill Hall. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/06/02/brewers-vs-d-backs.aspx
  8. At least we know that Yost will be able to turn this team around during his usually spectacular second half.
  9. Has anybody else gone straight stash in honor of the brewers new look? I got 4 of my buddies to do it and I shaved down to just a stash, it looks ridiculous but oh well. We're all going to the game on Sunday sporting the new Brewers look which means they will all probably shave Saturday night and we'll just look ridiculous for nothing.
  10. Brewers are also currently tied for 3rd best record in the league with the leagues 3rd toughest schedule. The only two teams with tougher schedules are San Fran and Colorado who have done enough losing to boost their opponents win %. The Cardinals currently have the 20th toughest schedule while the cubs have the 15th.
  11. I'm interested to know how many people have actually gotten denied parking because they have gotten there late? I know it happened last year on opening day. I just never thought it was that big of a deal. I usually have tickets or am at games where I can walk up and buy tickets and I have never minded the people who were just there for the party. Tailgating has always seemed fun and pretty unique to Wisconsin I just don't see why a lot of people here seem to want to squash it.
  12. I was thinking maybe just change an existing parking section to family section since so many people have a problem with people "excessively tailgating". I don't care one way or the other as the current system doesn't bother me at all. Nice response though I actually chuckled a little.
  13. How do you define a real fan? I think someone that can't get tickets to a big game but still shows up with their friends to party with everyone else and listen to Jim and Ueck on the radio are pretty big fans. I did it once when we showed up to a game that was surprisingly sold out and it was a pretty good time. I never got what the big deal was about letting fellow Brewer fans show up and have fun. Either way they are all real fans to me. Sounds like you might be interested in the creation of a family section parking lot with similar rules to the family section seats. Maybe not, I don't want to put words in your mouth...just an idea.
  14. The important thing to me is how the players feel about it. When Lambeau switched over to the hybrid turf this year the players seemed to rave about it.
