  1. I agree. I think it will be a good team and a fun team to watch. As Don Money said tonight, it's a good group but we don't know what the other teams in the league have.
  2. The Stars arrived in Huntsville this evening and were met at the team motel by a few members of the Booster Club for our annual Hospitality Room to greet the team. They enjoyed the refreshments and seemed very appreciative for the welcome and the support. Money and Sauveur along with 17 or 18 players stopped by. We'll have some pictures on the Booster Club website by the weekend.
  3. It's obvious they aren't hurt, Kremblas started game 1 and Johnson started (and ended!) game 2. Kremblas PH in game 2 so they are both on the active roster. My question remains, how can they make a roster move after the series has started? Huntsville has already used (I think) 20 players in the 2 games. The only ones not used are pitchers Shelley, Liriano, Bruso, and Brian Adams. Have one of these 4 been dropped and Lozada added? If so, you would have to think it would be Adams and even at that it seems the announcement would have to be made before the series starts.
  4. Lozada was here last night, handling the bullpen catching duties, or least SOMEbody I was. Kremblas played nd Johnson was in the dugout. I didn't know who the youngster wearing #30 and catching in the pen was but must assume now that it was Lozada. If he is activated, somebody (probably a pitcher) will have to be dropped. Can they do that during the series?
  5. Just want to say that David is right on the money about last night's game. We've seen Krynzel make some outstanding plays but that one was really something. A great diving catch and then a STRONG throw from leftcenter to first for the DP. Hendrickson looked good and hopefully is a-ok now. Another outstanding defensive play, I thought, was one made by Machado. Gemoll went to his right for a ground ball and just barely missed it but Machado was behind him and made a sliding stop and throw to Hendrickson covering.
  6. Note to Milwaukee - AAA and AA rosters were eligible to be expanded by one to 24 on Monday. Hello?! Not only have they not expanded to 24, Huntsville is down to 22 with the loss of Jones. Chattanooga used 7 pitchers last night, I don't remember a time all season that Huntsville has had 7 pitchers 'available'. Once again Huntsville emptied it's bench, using all 11 postion players and if the game had gone on to the 17th innning, Mike Kremblas would have been on the mound again. It would be nice to add one more pitcher and one more position player for this stretch run but where would they come from?
  7. and all three can split time at DH. That means 2 of the 3 will be playing every day and all 3 will get time against AL teams. Of the 23 games remaining on the Stars schedule, only 4 will have the DH. Birmingham and Orlando are the only 2 AL teams in the Southern League and the Stars finished their season series with Orlando back on April 17. With the promotion of Knox, release of Gripp, and DL of Jones, the Stars are now 2 players short of the 23 man limit (which expands to 24 in a couple of days). They have 11 pitchers but only 10 position players so they really need Clark and another position man. It's hard to wn close games with only 2 subs available.
  8. Just received the Snappers e-newsletter and they report that Jeff Housman has been promoted to Huntsville. Hopefully the unearned runs will not be as common here.
