  1. Thanks so much everybody... Great Help and advice!
  2. Trying to set a baseball trip up with my dad turning 65 this summer. The Crew plays out East near the end of July. We are hoping to to fill our baseball needs and history needs in by going to Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC. We can catch 3 games and two of them being Brewers games. For those with Experience. How is travel there? We'd probably fly in to Philly. Catch a Brewers game and then head to Baltimore, then DC. Rental Car preferred? Are Trains better and just Uber to areas of need? Thanks for any advice in advance as we start to plan this trip!
  3. Hey all, Looking to decorate a bedroom for the new baby boy in Brewers... or at least my wonderful wife is 'open' to the idea. Anybody have a lead to know where to get the old school logo border paper? There are some nice fat head logos, but I'd love some ideas or leads for supplies. Thanks!
  4. You can't pay Krod that and justify it because Axford is on the cheap. It is like somebody being on a diet and justifying an ice cream because of the 'good foods' they at that day. If we want to be competitive we need to be as cost effective as we can be. KRod at that salary will not do. I trust Melvin to realize this.
  5. Call me a person with commitment issues... but now that he has waived his option could we send him away for SS or 3B help? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. I have a signed ball from most/many of the 1978 Brewers team with George Bamberger signing the sweet spot on it. The ball is an official American League ball. Any estimates on that? I also found a print by Mike Morbeck framed and there were 4000 made. It honors county stadium with a number of images that County Stadium came to show and stand for. Anybody familiar with this piece? I picked them up locally here for a very good deal, at least I think! Thanks in advance.
  7. No more Jason Kendall leading off????!!!! Whatever will we do?!? Great trade for the line up... Sure we have other holes to fill. Melvin also gets to make a trade to help the OFFENSE and not the pitching as Braun said... I'm not saying that is the reason Doug Melvin did that, but I would smile if we rolled off a few wins and a lot of runs after this...
  8. count me in as very interested in some tix to either game! Go crew!
  9. wow, tough pitch... nice to feel like a spark is back though
  10. Did marmol just give us the suck it sign???
  11. Congrats on the job. Is there anything that you tried differently than the other times? I always like to hear and learn about the interview process.
  12. It is tough... I was a fortunate one that was able to graduate and get two long terms in the last semester of 2005 and then get a full time social studies job after two interviews. I took an interviewing class at UW Whitewater. I learned a lot of valuable tactics that I think really helped separate myself from the others. One is being orgranized in the interview. Hand out things to people in the interview that they can keep. Have a thank you in the there and lesson plans. Butter them up and make them think, wow, he/she is organized and very polite. Also in getting interviews... Try and have somebody call in to the principal or even dept head to give you a good word. It can only help. We just filled a social studies job for one opening and 175 people applied and it was tough to weed through the applications and in many instances it was nice to know from the phone calls we got about the quality of the candidates. Lastly, have as many people as possible proof your letter of interest/application materials. Any typos and they really do get tossed for the most part. When there are so many applicants that look good on their resume, we will probably call the person with proper spelling and grammar. The most important thing is to show your love for being wiith kids. When they ask you, "Why do you want to teach?" Do not say, I want my summers off. You need to say something about helping kids and being there for them. Good luck in your quest and hope this helps.
  13. Thatcher had a rough night in San Diego... 1/3 of an inning... 2 errors and gave up 3 runs...
  14. wow, a trade in the works involving him???
  15. I would say that I would support this Yost comment if he explained it more. I feel more fly balls are going to get caught, thats all. I don't think you can lump line drives in that category though. While I know that a liner would technically be on a fly, it is harder to catch obviously. In the end, Yost probably meant that his team swings for the fences too much, but did not word it right. I take his quote and interpret it as him wanting his guys to take a breath and not try and hit a home run every time.
  16. While I dont remember the stats off the top of my head, there is a pretty big difference between fly balls and ground balls. My numbers could be off since I coach high school ball though...
  17. I just got off the phone from my buddy who just moved to San Diego about 6 months ago. He said people were confused and quite upset about the trade. While that may seem insignificant, it does mean that their fan base had not had a falling out with him despite his recent struggles.
  18. Way to get at least one... While I know its always a different situation, that run made up for the poor call at first. With Jenks and the top of the order due up in the ninth I like the odds... hold them here though!
  19. Chris Shelton from Detroit is on fire!
  20. Silly move by Ned... Santos and Davis got pulled early when they were due up in the line up this series. This late in the game you need to pinch hit for Sheets.
  21. I usually have this guys back but good gosh... Ridiculous. Is he getting advice in the clubhouse from some of the Little League coaches that I coach against? Un Freacking real.
  22. As I look at the archives, I see that Rogers was placed at number 10 after he was signed if I remember right from when I looked last night... Maybe its because we were not as deep as we are now, or maybe we need to realize that this is a college player with more experience than Rogers had just coming out of High School.
