  1. I can we would have a 12 game win streak if we had even an average defensive ss. The Wednesday game at home with two outs and nobody on in I believe the 11th inning Holliday hits a little dribbler up the middle that 25 out of 30 short-stops in mlb get the out but Betancourt doesn't. Holliday steals 2nd, Berkman drives him in and we lose the game. His defense has jeporadized 2 of the last 4 games we have played against the Cardinals.
  2. danzig sorry I have never been fan of the we can't hit, so lets hope we get more hits approach. I admit though the stolen base is becoming a lost art. As far as other people mentioning you can't steal first, my counter argument is in the blog. Teams like the Padres and Rays have much worse obp. as a team and still are in the top 5 for stolen bases.
  3. Hey guys, I just blogged about how upset I am with the Brewers lack of a running game, despite all of Roenicke's talk this spring training that it would be more aggressive. Its called "Roenicke Needs to be a Man of His Word". Please check it out and let me know if you have a response/feedback. http://bennylips.wordpres...ecome-a-man-of-his-word/ (EDIT: Replaced top-level blog link with permalink to post. That'll make it easier to find after more blog entries are added. --1992)
  4. Hey Guys, here is my blog on the Braun signing. I believe this extension was pre-mature and I feel like I provided some solid rationale as to why. Let me know what you think!http://bennylips.wordpress.com/2011/04/22/braun-over-brains/
  5. Hey guys, I am an intern at Inside Wisconsin Sports and my job is to write feature stories predominatly about high school athletes/teams for our website. I am just curious what you think some of these stories should be about for the upcoming baseball/softball season? It could be anything you think is interesting enough for a story. I am especially looking for any players or coaches that have or had overcome big challenges or obstacles in their careers. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
  6. Prince for Felix Hernandez would probably make the most sense. Jack Z and Melvin obviously have a good relationship and they are looking for some meat behind Ichiro. Im not sure if I would want it, but this would seem most likely. Not sure if their fa years are lined up, so if Felix is done a yr early it would probably take another prospect like Aumont to get the deal done. If they do pull the trigger on this I would want holes like Kendall and Hardy replaced, because a line-up without Fielder could not afford so many automatic outs.
  7. That has nothing to do with the organization, that is all Mike Cameron.
  8. Pena is one of the better set-up men in baseball. He should of been their closer last yr, but arz like the cubs believe in using their best reliever in the most stressful innings, not just for the 9th inning. excellent trade for the Chi soxs, because if they keep there pen together Linebrink or Dotel in the 7th, Pena in the 8th, and Jenks in the 9th will make it extremly difficult for opponents to score late against them. Arizonia has Gutierrez in the wing, so its not a bad deal for them either.
  9. The only problem is theyll probably land the worst record this year too.
  10. it was awful today. we only got Macha and he had to reach over the fence. Then the worst part is before any of the real good players showed they made us cut the ropes we made for dropping items, so we left because we basically knew we had no chance. good luck to you guys because quite frankly your going to need it. I doubt youll see me waste my time out there again this yr!!
  11. Another big mistake, know the players name, im assuming you mean Lucroy.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif It is fine to ask for any reasonable inscription or placement but just ask once, if they say no they say no.
  12. I know its an awful selection. How about Ben Revere MWL MVP??
  13. If you have a game used bat with one players name on it signed by another it only has sentimental value. No monetary value unless you are able to wipe off the sig and get it signed by the actual player that used it. Itd be like me signing my name on a check endorsed to Tony Gwynn JR., there isn't anybody that is going to cash it!!
  14. What Melvin did well is utilize this teams flexibility for 2009. If Gallardo and Parra can hold up theres an abundance of prospects we have to acquire another top of the rotation starter and if our starting pitching falters Cameron, Hoffman, Looper, Kendall are all in possible contract years and can be moved pretty easily at the deadline if this team falters. Whether this team wins or loses were still in a position for long term success.
  15. Agreed BHF, im getting sick how people think if you have a binder of baseball cards your a seller. If someone is going to get Braun on a card they have no intention of selling. If I was Ryan Braun and I saw you with a Miami Jersey and especially a roy bat Id assume right off the bat you were selling my product. Im not trying to scold you or anything, but usually if I go to a players lot or a hotel I have 3-4 major league baseballs and a small binder full of cards sitting in my back pack. I'm pretty sure when most players look at this theyll assume im a seller. Just because you view yourself as a "true fan" doesnt mean the player does all he sees is two big ticket items in your hands. The g-robs as much as I hate to say it arent the ones ruining autograph collecting. It is just flat numbers there are so many more collectors especially in Milwaukee then there used to be. If it was just g-rob at the players lot every day id bet those players would sign for him every day. Im not defending g-rob's tactics here, but theres a reason why a lot of new collectors hate g-rob for the simple reason he treats them like crap because he doesnt want them there, because he has figured out that the huge growth of attendance by fans at players lots and hotels are what is cutting into his profit.
