  1. Living on the West Coast doesn't allow me to see the Brewers often but with them playing in the Post Season has allowed me to watch baseball. One thing I noticed is the amount of talk there was about the defensive shift and whether it was good for the game or not. Anyway I googled it and there are 3+ million discussions that come up. What do you guys think? It isn't an entirely new scheme, in fact if you watch Mickey Mantle's 500th home run on Youtube it appears that Baltimore was employing a defensive shift during his at bat. That was in 1967.
  2. Is this related to, " Vogt using weighted balls to strengthen arm...Improved defense will be key as veteran looks to crack Brewers' roster" https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/brewers-stephen-vogt-using-weighted-balls/c-266685156
  3. I have several encounters but the one that stands out is a chat I had with Mark Loretta. It was a 1996 winter tour stop for the Kiwanis Club in Sheboygan. I asked if it was difficult to play with superstars, transitioning from fan to competitor? He relayed a time when he doubled and while standing on second base Cal Ripken Jr. teased him by saying he let the ball get passed him because Mark wore "His" number. I loved the winter tour stops because it always seemed to be rookies, gritty veterans and the manager. A story about "going out to get some brats" being confused as ""going out to get some Broads" by Daryl Hamilton because of the southern accent disconnect was another tale of the MLB from one of these stops. I also recall meeting Paul Molitor when I was a kid at a Pepsi Pitch, Hit and Run event. I know I talked to him because I have the photo's to prove it but can't remember what was said. Paulie was my favorite player after Thurman Munson died (I was a catcher through Summer Legion ball) so my eyes are gleaming and wide in the pictures. Awestruck! Later in life I was riding my bike in Mequon when I saw a very hairy man in shorts pushing a mower. I stopped and told Molitor I was a big fan and that my mom was watching a house in the neighborhood. He shook my hand and thanked me and said he had to finish before the bugs got bad and off he went.
  4. I really don't hate the Cubs, I hate Cubs fans...well I don't hate Cubs fans, I just seem to like them better when they're not around.

  6. but what if he drives in the go ahead run?
  7. MS update KB951748 and ZoneAlarm --- PROBLEM Check this out if you are using ZoneAlarm. Hope it helps
  8. James Tellen Woodland Sculpture Garden I grew up about 100 feet from this thing. It wasn't made into a park until after I moved out to Portland. The fire station a block away has a park so the kids won't get too antsy. You can also walk up Pioneer road for access to the beach. If you look straight up Edgewater road you can see the garage in front of the house ex-Packer Bill Schroeder grew up in. WOW! Lottie Cooper Shipwreck/Harborcenter The whole marina and beach is pretty nice. Stop in at Teek's Weather Center Cafe on the boardwalk for a sandwich and soup or taste a scone or almost organic oatmeal bar. Tell Teek Hal sent ya. Man it's been ages.

  10. Oh yeah, I forgot I have another customer whose name is Wang Tu Chin. I die laughing everytime I see that one.
  11. It's my name. hAL. A friend of mine put it together as a kind of gift. I think it looks cool.
  12. These are actual customer names from where I work: Sandy Tarbox, Hai Ho & Chia Wang. I also remember a Limited Late Model race driver from Sheboygan Falls named Richard Hed.
  13. I live here and can make suggestions, do a little research for you if needed. Give me a few details and I will help you out for sure. Portland Beavers do open their season against Fresno the first weekend of April if you don't mind taking a chance watching a ballgame in the misty rain. Civic stadium is pretty cool. What are you into?
  14. How about if the Players coughed up some of their $40,000 stipend for the sake of the unpaid staff. That is something I can feel a bit of compassion for. Otherwise I agree, why is this news?
  15. Sean was on the first two Long Winters records but left to do the new Harvey Danger which I am not that fond of although i do like it better than the "Flagpole" album. You can hear more of the Long Winters herealong with tons of other streamed shows. I could keep blurting out records until I turn blue but the Eno is something to check out for sure. Also Daniel Lanois album "Shine" feels like an old friend. Very much Eno(ish). They work together so much it makes sense. If you want to go down that path check out David Sylvians records from "Secrets of the Behive" forward. Pretty voice and etheral music.
  16. Hey all. A few bands you guys should check out: The Hold Steady, The Thermals, The Long Winters, The Rapture, Numbers, The Raconteurs and Sparklehorse just to name a few. Also check out The Hype Machine blog. It is an audio blog aggregator that posts new mp3's blogged on a dozen or so blogs. Really good way to check out new stuff and you can search out bands as well. Not only does it stream the songs but it also has links to the blog it came from and the post it is in.
  17. Sounds like there are plenty of border crossers at this game. The reaction from the crowd sounded awefully happy on the radio broadcast.
  18. Just got back from dinner and I am flabergasted. WOW Sheets pitched a gem of a no decision. I am edgy just listening to this at-bat. PUT THEN AWAY CREW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. I am having Bob withdrawl. AHHHHH!!!!!!!
  20. I'm crying real tears because of Wes. Way to go Obie!!!
  21. Ok I'm confused... Bennett pitched good this time right? And Burba is pitching now? Was Ned anticipating Bennetts breakdown, or was he pulled because there was nobody on base? I am only able to peek into the action occasionally so I thought Bennett looked good this time out and deserved to go another inning. Like I said, I am confused
  22. damn I wish I would have taken that bet!!!
  23. I hadn't paid attention all game to Wes' pitch counts but I liked his last two at bats.
  24. Yeah but... Nomar Garcioparra End of discussion.
