  1. The bleachers at Wrigley Field are all general admission. You pick your seat location. Get to the stadium about 3 hours before the game begins and you will be pretty much guaranteed front row seats on the basket and over the ivy. This is one of the things that make Wrigley Field an enjoyable place to watch a game. We always arrive early and stand in line to guarantee we get the front row. I can't explain what it is about Wrigley...it's just a good time, especially in the bleachers. "Happy" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Sweet. Shoot me an e-mail and we'll set something up. happyyoungster@hotmail.com "Happy" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Well said.FTJ, ever see the movie "Fever Pitch?" I rest my case. As far as being jackasses, I'll leave that to some of the Cubs fans, they have that down pat. "Happy" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif (cleaned up code --1992)
  4. Whoa...stop the press! BREWER FAN ATTEMPTS TO RALLY TROOPS Sorry for being "dramatic" but that "game" you so loosely refer to happens to be very near and dear to me. And I'd like for you to show me where I said I was disgusted with Cubs fans at Miller Park. Whether they're knowledgeable or not, they sure know how to support their team. The day we admit that we have a serious rivalry on our hands directly to the south is the day we start to fill Wrigley Field seats with our own butts. I don't know about you, but when Cubs players joke about Wrigley North during their interviews, that does not sit well with me. You can choose to sit on the sidelines and criticize those who show passion for their team, that's your choice. But, if I have it my way, I'm getting in the game. Dramatic? Maybe. Fanatic? Absolutely. "Happy" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. I have been attending Brewers/Cubs games at Wrigley Field since 1998 (always in the bleachers). The park is a dump, the home team makes me nauseous and the fans...well, nevermind that. In the late 90's, I could count on two hands how many Brewers fans attended those games. The 2000-2002 seasons showed only slight improvement. The 2003-2005 seasons were better. Starting in 2006, I noticed a drastic rise in Brewers fan attendance at Wrigley. My point is this: The rivalry between the Brewers and Cubs is big-time. The 2008 season will only further that rivalry. We NEED to show a presence at Wrigley this season like we've never shown before. Forget about "take back Miller Park," the Cubs faithful will come to our park, there's no stopping that. We need to invade their park. I know, I know, this topic probably has come up before, but this year is different. Nothing would make a statement to the rivalry more than a rousing cheer for a Fielder bomb onto Sheffield Ave. or a diving stab by Weeks. We, as fans, can make a difference. Join me and other Brewers fans this season as we attempt to invade Wrigley Field. I just checked the Cubs website and many value priced tickets (especially bleachers!!) still remain for the April 2nd & 3rd games. A few friends and I will be going down to Chicago on the 2nd (Wed.) and staying overnight in downtown for the game on the 3rd (Thu.) as well. If you plan on showing your presence at Wrigley, join me! Either respond to this thread or shoot me an e-mail happyyoungster@hotmail.com "Happy" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Due to an overwhelming response, it appears as if I will be flying solo. "Happy"
  7. Well, the Winter Meetings have concluded and we've reached a consensus. The Brewers will, indeed, win the National League Central in 2008. Good times by all that attended. Sorry to those who could not make it. Met Brewer Jamie, Jimbo and their supportive Brewerwives. Look forward to meeting all other BF'ers as the season rolls along. 8. Villanueva and his "changeup" need to be in that big league starting rotation come opening day. What does he have left to prove? We're already heavy with righties in the rotation and that changeup is just as effective against lefties as righties. In my opinion, this helps balance the starting five a little better if the Brewers insist on sending Parra down and giving Bush the fifth-spot. "Happy" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Wow...I try not to take these things too personal. But, this guy has no clue. Further proof that the internet is full of garbage. JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS!! "Happy" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. I know I'm not the only one that's keyed up to play a little baseball this summer...! Anybody up for some swings in the cage over the next few weeks? If so, reply to this thread or e-mail me at happyyoungster@hotmail.com and we can set it up. "Happy"
  11. WANT: Sheets Gallardo Parra Suppan Villanueva EXPECT: Sheets Gallardo Suppan Capuano Bush As long as Sheets is in town, regardless of injury, he will be the ace. Yovanni is a future star. Parra just might be the best of the bunch in the long-run (he deserves to make the opening day roster but I'm afraid they will exercise his option to AAA). Suppan is a horse in the 4-hole. Villanueva has paid his dues and should be given the fifth spot. The rest of the team is so young and up and coming, why shouldn't the rotation be? The young pitchers are better than the incumbents. In a "what have you done for me lately" business, Capuano has a lot to prove. Vargas was the main culprit for why our bullpen was so taxed last year so he should not be given a starter's role. Bush flat out wins ballgames but his ERA and propensity for giving up the long ball really hurt. Trades are inevitable at this point. Hopefully, Bush is given a spot in long-relief and/or Capuano bounces back. "Happy" happyyoungster@hotmail.com
  12. Through my travels/experience and from what others have told me; I have come up with the following: Areas of interest for the 2008 Cactus League traveler: (keep in mind, these are just my opinions-and in good taste, I will only do the best of-not worst) Best Cactus League Stadium for watching a game: Scottsdale Stadium (SF Giants) Best steak: 1. Pink Pony Steakhouse 2. Don & Charlie's Steakhouse Best nightlife: Downtown Scottsdale Best hiking trails: (follow this link) http://www.visitphoenix.com/visitor/index.cfm?action=trails Best Stadium for scenery: Tempe Diablo Stadium (Angels) Best shopping: Scottsdale Fashion Square Best Cactus League Stadium for player interaction: Maryvale (although it's in a rougher part of town, you can almost stand on the practice fields!) Best Mexican Food: Valle Luna Mexican Restaurant Best Party Bar: ACME Roadhouse (near ASU campus) good looking staff caters to college or recently graduated crowd. Best Blues Bar: Rhythm Room (Phoenix) Others: The Phoenix Zoo and Botanical Gardens are really cool, also. If you are going to Arizona, do yourself a favor and rent a car!!! The driving in Arizona is fun and well worth it. Hope to hear from more people that plan on going. "Happy" happyyoungster@hotmail.com
  13. I've been to 4th Base. No menus, just tell them what you want and they make it. A burger and fries will run you about $12.00. Drink prices are consistent w/ the norm. Lots of baseball memorabilia on the walls and ceiling. Harvey's wooden leg? Sweet. I was unaware they even had a back room, so that's cool. They definitely cater to the regulars but a good choice for our Winter Meetings, in my opinion. Looking forward to meeting everyone. "Happy" Is it baseball season, yet? Because I'm champing at the bit...

  16. Just bought my airline tickets from Milwaukee to Phoenix. Leaving Thursday, March 13th-returning March 18th. We're staying in Tempe near the University at the Fiesta Resort and Conference Center. The day we arrive, we're headed to the Pink Pony Steakhouse in Scottsdale (awesome food and place is covered with baseball memorabilia-always ballplayers dining in during spring training). A stop at NYPD Pizza is also a must. The best pizza you'll find anywhere (google NYPD Pizza for locations near Scottsdale). We'll be at the ballpark most mornings by 9am to watch the morning workout sessions. There are multiple training fields at Maryvale Park and watching the guys up close is quite relaxing. The ballplayers themselves are laid back and approachable. I met Reggie Jackson back in 2000 at the Peoria Sports Complex (even he was approachable). We'll be partying at night around the ASU campus in Tempe, so, if any Brewers fans want to join us/meet up, just shoot me an e-mail @ happyyoungster@hotmail.com GO BREWERS! "Happy"

  20. Any day of the week...any time of the week. As long as the park has grass in the outfield and dirt on the infield, I'm in. "Happy"
  21. My ranking of Major League Stadiums I have personally attended: 1. Milwaukee County Stadium - boy, do I miss that stadium. 2. PNC Park - unbelievable sight of downtown, water and bridges. Best ballpark food and people leave you alone. Pittsburgh is a lot like Milwaukee...drink a can of beer anywhere on the streets around the stadium. Blue collar town. 3. Wrigley - hate the Cubs and have differences with their fans, but there is no better place to watch a game from the bleachers. 4. Miller Park - location is only downfall. 5. Jacobs Field - Beautiful stadium-love the homer porch down left field line where fans can stand right up against the top of the wall. Boring downtown area from what I remember. 6. New Busch - Very nice view of downtown. Cards fans are courteous and very passionate about their redbirds. New Busch has nice blend of old and new. 7. Old Busch-the sight of the Suds Series was an old relic. A sea of red. 8. Shea Stadium-needs to be taken down. 9. New Comisky - if you make it out of there in one piece, you're doing okay. 10. Metrodome - what a horrible place to watch a game. Boring food, a boring drive from Milwaukee and artificial turf!! I'm headed to Philly and Yankee Stadium this September if anyone has any advice. "Happy"
  22. So, does that mean you have a corner outfield spot for me? I can play a little infield, too, if you're in a pinch. Believe me, you'll make my day if there's a roster opening. "Happy"
  23. Just joined the club. Was wondering if anyone is planning on a trip to the Cactus League. My wife and I are planning on mid-March. Would like to network with other Brewers fans once we arrive. "Happy" happyyoungster@hotmail.com
  24. New to the site...looks great. I would love to play some softball if there's a spot available. Please let me know either way. Thanks. "Happy" happyyoungster@hotmail.com "...and the Happy Youngster makes another fine grab!" -Matty V.
