  1. I was there and it was great. I'll never forget that hit. God bless the Pirates.
  2. Yeah, 4 wins is huge. Usually its the difference between making and not making the playoffs for good teams. I agree about CC's pitching too. We got the VERY best out of him and it is impossible for anyone to sustain that over the course of a year for 5 years or whatever.
  3. Doesn't MLB have rules about showing replays and pitches and stuff? It always bothered me that they don't have the TV picture showing so you can see pitches some in really nicely if you're sitting far away from the plate. At NFL games they show the play live on the score board and replay every play. Yeah, you see the referees miss calls and such but its there because it happened. Overall I think the MLB Umpires are insanely good at their job and I don't have much issue when they miss a call. I would like to see plays again though.
  4. Two people who have pretty high places in the organization, who are business contacts and friends. The atmosphere is not what it once was. Of course, winning can mask certain workplace stresses. But from what I have heard from these people it is not a very fun place to work any longer. If its being run more professionally and is higher stakes, that's a good thing. If the organization is taking on bigger sponsors and interested in raising more money, that's a good thing. they've shown a willingness to invest that money in players and that' a good thing. Maybe there is a more corporate, serious, business like attitude than before but that's a good thing. Because it might not as be as fun to work there anymore doesn't mean they aren't more fun to watch. There isn't an organization more professional, business like and interested in big money sponsors than the Yankees. I'd say they have a good model to follow in terms of how to run a baseball club.
  5. I guess you wonder if for a team like the Brewers, is CC the difference between making the playoffs or not? I do believe in the mystical ability for a player to make his teammates better. It's a mental thing. So although it's silly, I feel like a pitcher like CC gives other guys a better opportunity to win. These types of guys just seem to cool things off and keep the flow going.
  6. A million bucks is still a million bucks no matter how many millions you're dealing with. But then again, what can't you do with 110 million that you can't with 120?
  7. The Phillies are a seasoned, experienced team and you can tell the difference between them and the Brewers. Simply put: the better team won. I'm really sick of Philly beating us in the playoffs in every sport (1980's Bucks, Freddie Mitchell's 4th and 26, 2k1 Eastern Conference Playoffs (The Bucks were better!) and now this). We will get you 1 day!
  8. The team did pretty well. Bring 'em back and hope some guys like Hall and Weeks have better seasons. I like Cameron in CF, he had a great year offensively and his defense is really good too. I would focus on coaching the hitters to get their OBP up a bit more and then focus on acquiring starting pitching and some bullpen help. They really aren't that far off and with their youth, they're doing pretty good. Third base and Catcher were the real problems this year. I have faith in Weeks and believe he can and will improve next year to become the hitter we know he can be. But lead off isn't the place for him. #2 is a great spot for him so he gets those fastballs.
  9. It really kind of hurts that we have him for 2 more expensive years. I didn't love the signing and thought we may have overpaid. Last year I figured he was OK since he pitched the most innings and had an average season basically. But this year he stunk. He isn't tradeable at all obviously so we're stuck with him and we have to pitch him next year because of what he makes. I can't imagine a buyout happening either. He's a bust.
  10. Yeah, great season and had a lot of fun. Honestly, the goals I set were accomplished. I wanted to make the playoffs and win a game and they did that. I really believe they're going to be very good next year and be competitive. I can't wait to see how this off season unfolds.
  11. To all Cubs fans: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  12. It was a good game and they had a chance to win it. They kept fighting against a terrific pitcher who matches up well with them and they gave up game 1 on the road. You want to get a spilt out of this thing and we got our best guy, maybe the best guy in MLB, going tomorrow against a lineup that has a lot of lefty bats. Was really run and bizarre being in the playoffs. Hopefully we bring this thing back here 1-1 with a chance to close it out at home. Good stuff and go Brewers! We're cheering for you!
  13. I think it's fine as it is. It's special for most teams to just make the playoffs. Baseball plays every night almost and it's all about the pennant race in September and parts of August. That's such an exciting time of the year in this sport as the last couple years have showen. Temas slip and others rise in the final weeks and all hell breaks loose. I enjoy the race to the playoffs. Other sports have it to an extent, but baseball, with so many games, has insane volatility this time or year. And getting there is pretty special. In baseball, every team in the playoffs is really good and had a good year. In football and especially basketball, there are always a team or two (or more) that basicly suck, backed in and don't really deserve to be there. The teams that performed for 162 games shouldn't have to have their odds of making the WS even less.
  14. Which isn't that far from being 17th overall, really. Middle of the pack regardless and very average you could say. But yeah, comparing two leagues with different rules doesn't work, I agree.
