  1. Exactly, this isn't a high profile murder case that a judge issued a gag order on - the ONLY reason Braun isn't talking is that he doesn't want to tip off MLB attorneys off and let them know his defense in advance. Which, imo, if your as clean as you say you are....... you wouldn't be worried about that.
  2. Considering MLB deals with thousands of tests and there has yet to be a leak prior to the Braun case - I'm not convinced the leak is from MLB.
  3. MLB never announced because Braun appealed - had he not, they would have announced it by now. This is not a criminal case and should not be compared to one at all. Braun failed his test - that's when the guilty verdict came in if you really want to compare this to a criminal court case. When he was informed he failed and was going to be suspended under MLB's drug policy, he chose to appeal - an appeal is when a verdict is challenged. As for his defense, we have no idea what it is because Braun isn't talking - FWIW I'm not a fan of this either although I do understand it from a legal standpoint. People on here really need to face facts and stop treating Braun like a victim - I hope to heck his story holds up, but I have major doubts in large part because the testosterone was synthetic.
  4. There would be FAR more egg on MLB's face if they let Braun off at this point. Braun's not going to get sympathy for having his "name dragged through the mud" - after all, it was his blood sample that tested positive for synthetic testosterone. If he has a medical condition; it's still on him for not disclosing it to MLBPA and/or Brewers and getting any treatments approved. Frankly, brewer fans should be really pissed off if that is what it turns out to be for a complete and utter lack of responsibility in his handling of it - but again, I stress IF. Really just need to wait and see what MLB rules and what Braun says after - the rest is just a bunch of gossip until that. All an MLB official did is state the obvious to ESPN.............. it is very unlikely Braun's suspension gets overturned, it'sreally not news at all.
  5. Completely incorrect. Braun failed his drug test, he was going to be suspended for 50 games but chose to appeal the suspension - had Braun not appealed, it likely would be public knowledge by this point.
  6. Attendance went way down after the opening year and dropped even more the 3rd year; obviously you expect a dropoff - but a third of the fanbase dropping off within 2 years is a direct reflection of the performance on the field...... they were winning 50-60 games a season. Winning is what put fans in the stands - whether you get there through pitching or hitting, doesn't really matter and all you have to do is look at W/L and attendance to prove that: http://www.baseball-refer...m/teams/MIL/attend.shtml 2007 was really the turning point imo - the payroll had nearly doubled from 2 seasons ago and they won 80+ games; it renewed peoples interest and they followed that up with the Sabathia trade and playoff appearance the next season. In 07 they ranked 8th in the NL attendance and have since ranked no lower than 6th (4th in attendance this past season - uncharted territory for nearly 3 decades for the Brewers and a hell of a feet in such a small market); where as prior to 07; they were usually near the bottom and never ranked higher than 10th in attendance in the 6 prior seasons.
  7. Ahh, didn't realize there was a time limit on the player accepting that. What's everyone think about bringing Prince back on a 3 year deal if he's open to doing that? Probably nearly financially impossible for the Brewers at this point, even more so since Hart really can't be moved until they know what is up with Braun - nobody seems to be banging down his door, I thought he would have signed by now.
  8. So, getting back on topic - what happens if Prince doesn't find a contract to his liking (the latest rumor I read is he might take a 3 year deal worth $26 million) and he decides to accept arby and play on a one year deal, hoping he can get his mega contract next offseason? I know it's a longshot, but thought I'd throw it out there for discussion.
  9. This should help ya: http://books.google.com/b...i%20gallardo&f=false To summarize: Melvin pretty much gives all credit to Jack Z for the young guys and it directly points to "jack z and his staff" for selecting Yovani.
  10. Starting Pitching > Hitting I don't get the hate for Marcum on here - did people forget how good he was to start the season? 200+ innings at a 3.5 ERA.............. you would think that would get a LOT more love around here after enduring the likes of Suppan. That first month and a half of the season would have been a lot tougher without him......... I don't buy it for a second that a "replacement pitcher" would have still allowed the Brewers to win the division.
  11. For as much as he is making this coming season, he needs to make it through the year healthy - too much time missed over the past 2 seasons. That said, only way I'd trade him at this point is if it was in order to free up $ to sign Prince - and I'm not even sure that would be a good move in the long term.
  12. The whole STD thing really doesn't matter - Braun is still responsible to report that to MLB and get an exemption for any medication. I imagine he is obligated to do this with being a member of the MLBPA. Whether or not he has a legit medical reason is really irrelevant as it's still on him if he didn't follow through and get his medications approved by MLB.
  13. Isn't that exactly what was done? From what I understood, the first sample from Braun was taken and a portion was taken from that and turned up positive, a 2nd lab performed a test on the same initial sample drawn from Braun and that's the one that showed it was synthetic. How could 2 different labs screw up?
  14. Mike Cameron reunion?
  15. The real winner of this deal is Gamel - it's his job now.
  16. I think we got his last good year out of him anyhow - wish him the best though.
  17. I agree with you on the 2nd half, hate to beat a dead horse but: No winners in this. In regards to the first half - I think people will ultimately look at it and ask why it took so long to catch him. If he's guilty, it's obvious this didn't start this past summer.
  18. I wasn't trying to claim that at all - the leak very well could have come from MLB, it really doesn't make sense for either side to leak it. There are no winners here......... that's why in a latter post, I asked if it even matters where the leak came from? It's HUGE for the sport - go look at the front page of the USA today if you don't believe me, Braun on the cover with part of the headline reading "steriod era revisited" - http://www.newseum.org/to...ame=USAT&ref_pge=lst This is much bigger than Braun at this point because if he is guilty, he's likely been juicing the whole time and likely isn't the only one............... it invalidates EVERYTHING MLB has done and makes the sport look like a complete joke. My post really wasn't about agreeing with my POV, it's that people really need to take a step back and look at how much bigger this is than the Brewers RF'er. Yeah, I'm getting ahead of things and all this is based on an 'if he is guilty' sentiment........ but I just don't like how this sets up for MLB at all, like I said: No winners here.
  19. No, once things cool down the question is going to get asked - and again this is only IF he is guilty - how did he slip through the cracks for so long? This is in no way good for "cleaning up baseball" because it's going to lead to that question, how did he skirt the system for so long and if he got away with it.............................. who elese? The stink that was starting to come off MLB goes right back on. Agree to disagree, but that's just the way I see it.
  20. This should end Prince speculation at least.
  21. So, if he is guilty, you then think Braun just started doing this and that he is alone in doing this? Sorry, but I can't follow that logic........
  22. Maybe Braun banged his buddies gf and the guy wanted revenge.................. does it even matter how it got out at this point. No offense, but you guys are focusing on the wrong thing. The only question that should be asked right now is: Why did Ryan Braun have testosterone in his system that wasn't his? Keep in mind the sample was tested multiple times - between all the comments, spinning, opinions - that can't be escaped and at some point, he's going to have to answer that question.
  23. Sure it's bad for the player, but it's far worse for the sport........ if you can get past the fandom of Braun/Brewers, it's pretty clear to see that. Pretty much calls into question everything put in place to "clean up baseball"
  24. Not trying to be an ass, but A-Rods test was kept under wraps for years.
  25. Even if that's the case, I would still bet on it being from Braun's circle rather than MLB's. I'll say it again, it's far worse for MLB to have this get out - makes the entire minor league testing look like a joke.
