  1. I thought everybody was willing to just give him back after last nights game. What happened?
  2. Sales tax in Milwaukee is 5.6%. If the stadium tax is retired, sales tax will be 5.5%. It doesn't really make much of a difference. Isn't the sales tax in Ohio like 7-8%? God that's low!!!! My bad... I'm jealous. 7%. If you guys think yours it too low they should up it to 7% and pay off the stadium in a couple years instead of waiting till 2020. If the Bucs stadium is paid for with tax payer funds like Miller Park was then they need to up the sales tax by 1.4% to 7% or 7.5% and pay it off 10 years or less. Don't prolong the tax for 15 years or however long it's been. The quicker you can pay these things off the better. To be honest I'm surprised they are only contributing 100 million each. Should be closer to 200 million each with the money these guys have. 300 million on the tax payer when you have billions and can expect to make a huge profit on investment is cheap or should i say taking advantage of the Milwaukee tax payer.
  3. This team will win the NL Central. I don't know why you all are acting like this for?
  4. Miller Park tax wont end till 2020 and I'd bet that will be extended, and they want to tax Milwaukee more in a recession we never got out of? The county's tax for miller park is a penny for every $10 spent. I believe. God help you guys...
  5. What a terrible game. Whoever said your upset about mlb tv not working you didn't miss much. Not a game worth seeing.
  6. Many posters I know have been around these boards since Miller Park was first opened for business. I don't suspect many will be leaving. I think he means most of us will be dead of old age. Guess I'll have to keep things going then..
  7. Smallball killed that inning. Ugh. No the inability to lay down a successful bunt screwed that inning.
  8. Many posters I know have been around these boards since Miller Park was first opened for business. I don't suspect many will be leaving.
  9. The Majority of the land that was lease to the Brewers if you stand on home plate and look straight out to left field and center field and look east of that and all that land is owned by the Brewers. That's the majority of the 186 acres. Go out the rear central exit of the preferred lot and all of those dead buildings they own and across miller park way east of that they own that land also. The Brewers have a lot of parking and I suspect they would get rid of a lot of the General parking and force the tailgaters to the preferred lot to increase profits made on tailgating and parking. Development of the land bars resturants etc.. in back of preferred parking they could create easy busing transport to the front of the stadium (home plate section) for people who couldn't get parking if there ever became shortages. Same with the general lot after development there.
  10. exactly. I like that idea.
  11. Go to google.com type in milwaukee brewers 186 land development scroll down half way to the PDF - "Miller Park and Real Estate Development in the Village of" click on it and got to page 47 Exhibit 2 - MAP OF THE LAND SHOWING THE PROPERTY LEASED TO THE BREWERS FROM THE DISTRICT If someone can post that map with the shaded areas I'd apreciate it. Helps put things in perspective.
  12. Brewers own 186 acres of land all around miller park. They own the lease to the property. They will need business people to operate the businesses and have capital for the business and that is where investors come in. Look at what the Ricketts are preparing to do. they are offering minority shares in the cubs to fund the 500 million rnovation project to Wrigly Field. The Brewers will likely do the same or offer something very simuliar, but they will be looking for investors. The Brewers will need hundreds of millions to invest in that much land. I doubt Mark A and his investment group will do it alone. Like the other poster said just to create access will cost millions in infrastructure.
  13. Contact one of the owners or a mutual contact and schedule a meeting. I'd imagine that you would have to find someone interested in selling some ownership and that you would have to have more than $10 mil avilable for them to be interested in meeting with you. I might do that or invest heavily in the businesses on the Brewers leased property the as soon as I feel this economy "starts" to boom or the Brewers announce a major development plan. We are a few years away. Either way I'll help the Brewers franchise directly this way and in a bigger way than buy full season tickets. However, by helping businesses around miller park I can help a person and their family greatly and as much as I want to be a minority owner in the Brewers it's more profitable and I can help more people this way. I just received 20 million in my uncles will, he has no children and he was rich and me and him were very close more than anybody except his brothers, and he knew I was good with money and knew I knew how to invest, so he gave me this in his will. My father his brother got 40 million, so I could partner with him and do something really spectacular around Miller Park. I'll get in touch with Rick I'm sure he'll listen to me or give me a meeting to hear what I'm willing to offer when he hears about what I'm prepared to spend. I also make $650,000 a year owning my business and that in a down economy. Sale business. I love Milwaukee and think there will be great investment opportunities around The Bucs arena and Miller Park. I'd rather invest in Miller Park first due to all the fans that show up and it's my favorite team. We will see how things go.
  14. The Brewers own the lease on that property closest to Miller Park. However, according to Rick the economy has put a huge hold on any construction there. Also, they are trying to fill up Miller Park with improvements before transitioning to the outside. That comes first, then it's the parking lots, which really shouldn't be that big of a deal, not sure why they are waiting on that... Come on install permanent bathrooms at least for large qty of people. Then comes the abandoned buildings by the general lot which the Brewers own, which hold tremnodus opportunity and is a gold mine if you demolish those old buildings and rebuild them and put a hotel, resutarantsl, and bars and other forms of entertainment there. It's such a gold mine that I would invest in many businesses that payed the Brewers to open their business there. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I have to say this..... This economy isn't deterring Brewers fans from Miller Park. As long as the Brewers are competitive and have a chance at the playoffs they will draw 3 million fans and that means these entertainment business would profit hugely, despite the economy. Now the only reason I can think of why now isn't a good time for the Brewers to develop is because they don't have many business owners with enough cash in Milwaukee to rent the space from the Brewers and pay what it would take to operate it. Lot's of people lost money lots of money over the years. I know of plans of a major AMC theater building plan here where I live that was nixed due to the developer not having the cash due to the investor losing so much of his money. I'm thinking 5 years+ from now when things really start moving and this economy is booming that the Brewers come up with a master development plan for their 186 acres they own directly around miller park. Rick said that they have big plans for the stadium in 2015-16, so that means this year through 2016 they wont even think about the outside property or the 186 acres.
  15. Rick Schlesinger, http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/2014/02/17/67802302/brewers-coo-rick-schlesinger-discusses-club-as-spring-training-begins
  16. Wisconsin has that pointless "Miller law" which has squashed microbreweries. As a result, Wisconsin has a terrible selection of local brews compared with many other states. So really there aren't really that many beers to choose from in Wisconsin. 41st St. (Miller Park Way) is full of businesses that did not exist before Miller Park. I'm not sure how much of that has to do with the stadium construction. It's surprising that there isn't a hotel yet. Any destruction of parking lots (to be replaced with parking garages) will be highly controversial. Awww no wonder.. I'm against parking garages, due to being in favor of tailgating, but I am for permanent outdoor restrooms. Not portables. Those businesses I was talking about directly behind the preferred parking lot need severe street repairs and new buildings rebuilt from scratch. The Brewers own all that land a total of 186 acres. From, what I've read they have no clue what they want to do with all of that land and that's years down the road in a good economy. owbc, how does one become an investor in the Brewers franchise? I'm interested in finding out for myself. Thanks.
  17. Mark A wants to build around the stadium hotels and more entertainment etc.. I suspect that will happen in about 5 years when the economy is in the clear. Now's not a good time and they have said this. That will provide additional revenue to make these big repairs. So if you think about it Mark A is just getting started building Miller Park. The roof will be the biggest repair like owbc said, but the Brewers could do so much more to the parking lots. Then the sky is the limit to buying property around miller park to develop into entertainment, and a place for out of town fans to stay. You travel out of the parking lot from the general lot exit and you see all of these businesses that need to be demolished and rebuilt, because they look so old. Lot's of potential there for development and street repairs. They need more beer sponsors, though. The stadium could use better beer. Am I the only one who feels this way? Also, anybody know how you can become an investor in the Brewers like a shareholder I have money for it and will have more in the next few years? Just wondering, thanks.
  18. Gennett compared to Weeks has plus defense. That's what I meant. I've seen him make 5 plays already that Weeks would never make and it's only been 15 games.
  19. No matter how good Estrada is doing it could make him expendable. I would do a packaged deal at mid-season and trade Estrada, Nelson, and HellWeg for a big time 3B man that is controlled for at least 3 years or longer. Estrada is about to get very expensive. Then I'd just move Thornburg into the rotation. In the off-season I'd trade Ramirez and a prospect for a top SP prospect for depth. Ramirez if Healthy will have a great year this year and will be worth a lot in the next off-season. Roache will fill 1B the year after and we will have zero holes to fill. Just re-sign Gallardo. He will sign a team friendly deal I'd bet. The way Lohse is pitching and the type of pitcher he is we could extend him 2 more years with an option and he will pitch just fine. We need a good 3B man, and have to think about replacing Ramirez. Not sure what you consider a big time 3B, but Estrada, Nelson, and Hellweg will not return anything "big-time." Let alone big time under team control for 3 years. I am with you though. We need to move him at some point and if he is doing well mid-season would be a good time to do that. I have no faith in Melvin to pull the trigger. Brewers typically hold players too long. See Hart and Casey Mcgehee. I also think you are assuming a lot to think ARam will return a top SP prospect, and assuming even more that Roache will progress enough to contribute in 2015. I sure hope he does, but his struggles with breaking pitches will only be amplified as he faces better pitching. Aram will no doubt return a lo if he has a great year in 2014. I don't see how anybody can debate that. Estrada if he keep up with the quality starts a team desperate for good pitching will have to pay a premium for pitching and that means estrada, and include him with our top pitching prospect Nelson, and you will get a ton in return, perhaps swap Hellweg for Hanniger, or include them both and well get that 3B man. Roache will be ready. I'm not worried about him at all.
  20. You should. Everybody should, because it's so obvious. It will happen again, and you can count on it. Don't mind turbo, he wouldn't know a fastball from a change-up let alone a pitching game plan. I just put him on Ignore, because I only engage in smart conversation.
