  1. And the Doves rejoice for their fallen comrade. Still my favorite memory of the Big Unit is destroying that poor little bird
  2. The Cubs are stretched thin, I don't think they've done anything worth while during the whole offseason, except bring in Greg Maddux as co-Jim Hendry. I could see them over paying to get Sheets and what a sad state of affairs that would be. Until Braun and Fielder ripped him up game after game of course. he'll have to see what happens
  3. What I thought was weird about LaRussa's interview is that, he on one hand claimed he knew nothing of McGwire's steroid usage and then in the next sentence says he knew that people were getting HGH prescribed to them after injuries. He speaks of the injuries of McGwire and Ankiel. So is LaRussa a dirty liar and he knew full well what people were doing? Just trying to pretend that he didn't or what?
  4. I think these pitchers are exactly what the Brewers are waiting for. They want the asking price of these players to drop with time so they can hopefully scoop one of them up (with Mulder now added into this list making it five). I'm not sure about Bedard because the brewers probably wouldn't want 3 lefties in their rotation. Personally I want to see Parra on the opening day staff also
  5. Gamel Salome and Hart maybe, but again, too little too late. With Cameron and their new catcher, it just doesn't seem to be happening. That Boston rotation is going to be wicked intense and I'm so happy that they are in the AL
  6. Am I the only one who feels Prince is worth more than all of these offers have suggested? He's a stud, definitely top 4 first basemen in the game and one of the best sluggers out there. Getting a starter and a Center fielder and some minor league player? I'd be awfully pissed off if that happened.
  7. With these pitchers moving about and what not, I'd just like to discuss a few new opening day starters. King Felix or Cliff Lee? Doc or Hamels? (I'm thinking Doc here) Randy Wolf or Gallardo? Becket or Lester or Lackey? Any other teams worth questioning who will be on the mound to open the season?
  8. I brought his name up before. I agree, Correia would be a great addition to the Brewers pitching staff. he is a young guy with talent worth building on. We almost traded for him in the middle of the season last year.
  9. Yup, there is our two new pitchers. Job well done. Gallardo, Bush, Parra, Capuano, and Halama. don't for get Suppan. haha, oh boy the laughter can hardly be contained. lets still keep looking for more arms shall we
  10. I don't see why Hanley would get 2nd and Prince 3rd when Prince beat him in the majority of offensive categories. other than AVE and SB's. either way, both teams, the marlins and the brewers would be lost without either player. Should be an interesting ballot, I just wish Pujols didn't already win it
  11. He said he's excited to play in Milwaukee and wants to play for Peterson and Macha again. Well he wasn't the type of player I'd expect to be joining the Brewers to follow the new pitching coach here, but if it can bring other Oakland A trio here, I'd be happy. Here's lookin at you Mulder. Nothing wrong with veteran lefties in my eyes. especially since our other lefties, Parra and Narveson are still quite young. And yes, he does beat Burns or McClung in spot starts imho too.
  12. I don't think the Brewers are the type of team that likes to move players around from their natural positions. Braun kind of slid to the outfield because his bat deffinately called for him to be on the field at all times. But so far, Gamel hasn't shown that same ability. So the Brewers are willing to bide their time and wait for signs that he is ready offensively before they change his role defensively.
  13. This is the year Grienke won Cy Young. maybe the award will go to the most deserving player? Meaning Albert, but Prince will have a few odd first place votes and many 2nd place votes. Prince gets 2nd, I'm sure of it. He's the king, I mean he's the Prince
  14. I think saying Jack Wilson has "Pretty good defense" is being modest. The guy is an Amazing SS and I'd want him for my team. (if I had a team)
  15. Where do you think your favorite Brewers will end up in the MVP Voting? I'd imagine Prince getting 2nd personally. And Braun placing as high as 3rd or low as 6th. Of course I am forgetting about all the other NL teams in the league. I'd imagine Pujols getting first (duh) but where do you think we could end up?
  16. I'd say Agassi was liked enough that people would've bought the book without it's controversy. But it does make a very interesting story, and I'd probably enjoy reading the book. Maybe it will reach a broader audience. And they did say the years he was using was his worst years in tennis, ranking wise.
  17. First day of baseball practice, you pick up a glove and play toss back and forth from a distance of about 50 feet apart. That's why I'd consider it routine. I know he was fielding a ball, but come on, he only needed to breathe and release
  18. My friend Chuck, totally believes that Scott Kazmir was paid off to throw the game. That ball was 10 feet over Kendricks head, what was he thinking! How can ANYONE do that realistically. It's a throw from the mound to first base, more routine than jogging to first after a walk. That play was worse than Bill Buckner's bone headed fielding error in shear idiocy. What was the angels final total? 8 or 9 errors in the span of 6 games? Come on, against the yanks you gotta want to play well. GO PHILLIES! Edit: Fixed title. - Toby
  19. I like this comment, and I agree. These guys were bigger cheaters than Pete Rose in my opinion and look Mark jumps back into the game after being retired for what 8 seasons? Come on, he shouldn't be anywhere near the field. Tony screwed up on this one. McGwire: "Hey Pujols will you pop the pimples on my back?" I also think it would be funny if somehow he lost all his bulk and looked like the Mark McGwire of the oakland A's, when at least he was respectable and still a feared hitter
  20. Wow, well I sure miss a leadoff hitter who steals bases and can hit for average/above average. I'd rather have Weeks back in the number 1 spot in 2010 obviously though
  21. Uh No! Braun is not going to be traded. No team has a package which they would take seriously to get the next Brewer Hall of Famer off this team. Number 8 will be a retired Brewer Number someday. Would we have traded Robin Yount and Molitor back in the day? hell no, and we won't trade Braun or Fielder before the 2010 season either. if we are smart, which sometimes we are, we won't trade Casey McGehee either.
  22. Casey is WORTH the starting 3rd baseman of the 2010 Brewers roster. I would nearly demand we keep him. He hit .390 with runners in scoring position and was totally clutch in many games. He will only continue to produce better and better RBI numbers hitting behind Fielder. I'm sure he will start hitting more doubles with his knee in better condition next year also. Casey is the type of player that the Brewers would love to have succeed and also the type that they usually trade for no reason. Podsednik for example, once we trade him, we will miss him in 2 years time. Whatever pitcher we could it, it probably wouldn't be worth it. He should remain our number 5 hitter as long as fielder is fourth and Braun is 3rd. Sign a pitcher with Cameron's old salary, and keep Casey.
  23. Hey, I'm new here! Hello everyone! Of all the trades that didn't happen for pitching last year, I'm still upset about this one! I think Kevin Correia would be a great addition to our pitching staff and even be a Number 3 Starter, I'm assuming Parra can be a #2 some time in his life time. Well anyways, I wonder why this trade never happened and I hope it could in the off season. I'd trade JJ Hardy and Soup/Bush for Correia and maybe a lower A pitcher with a touch of promise. The Padres got no chance to succeed, ever. And maybe would be fine with getting whatever they could from Soup/Bush and JJ has promise, he doesn't like showing it enough, but he has promise enough to get traded for someone better than him overall. Correia was 12-11 with a 3.91 ERA for the Padres last year, and always pitched into the sixth inning, he has a lot of quality starts. He also pitched more innings than any Brewer with 198. Low walks with decent strike out numbers, I like him. I wish he already was a Brewer and if we were able to get him, he'd fill a hole in the rotation, and save us some money to go out and sign just one Free Agent Pitcher instead of 2.
