  1. You may ask why Svuem and here is my wacked out thoery. Cue X-Files Music.... I think Svuem was picked after he talked to Melvin and Melvin gave him ideas as to how he should use various players. Melvin saw that Ned was not putting players in situations to win and decided that he needed a manager that would do what he thinks is best for the team regarding bullpen, pinch hitting, and lineup issues. Melvin is now the puppet master and Svuem is now the puppet that Simmons refused to be. I also figured out what killed the offense. It was Skalin, in Miller Park, with a candlestick.
  2. I bet Mark really really hates Tom H. by looking at his reactions to Tom's questions.
  3. Mark sayed in a matter of words that this was Doug's choice and he went along with it.
  4. Melvin earlier in the press conference said that he nor Ned had the answers as to why the Brewers were struggling. Later he said that Ned admitted to him that he didn't know how to fix the problems so they haf to go in a different direction. Mark saying the reasons were there for the firing.
  5. Another quote from Hardy and he had quite a few good ones, some positive and some negative... "Whatever he did, I feel like a lot of players were thinking that way, that it was a nervous reaction. I honestly think he did a lot better this year than last year, but it got to the point with some players that they weren't even looking for the good." That reeks of players that did not trust their coach's decisions. Again, a baseball manager doesn't do a whole lot but the couple choices that make throughout the course of the game should be sound ones with solid backing.
  6. I have been down that road before and won't waste time with it again.
  7. Simmons now part of the scouting department.
  8. Melvin doesn't seem to kean on this move as he said, "I don't know if this is the right move." Maybe I am just reading too much into what must certainly be a somber mood.
  9. I would be ok with with a guy with a computer in hand and no baseball experience managing much like the transition that Beane made in the Oakland scouting department.
  10. Nice, let's make this a two horse race. Remember, even if Philly gets hot if the Mets stumble we could overtake them.
  11. I have a birthday party Sunday and Friday I have school so I am out for those two. Before I put them up on Ebay or sell them to Cubs fan I thought I would put them up here. $40 a pair shipped, Terrace Level section 430, row 10.

  13. We are playing in, in the first with no outs. Ok.

  15. "Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. "There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my game, and that's first place. I have finished second twice in my time at Green Bay, and I don't ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game, but it is a game for losers played by losers. It is and always has been an American zeal to be first in anything we do, and to win, and to win, and to win. "Every time a football player goes to play his trade he's got to play from the ground up - from the soles of his feet right up to his head. Every inch of him has to play. Some guys play with their heads. That's O.K. You've got to be smart to be number one in any business. But more importantly, you've got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you're lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second. "Running a football team is no different than running any other kind of organization - an army, a political party or a business. The principles are the same. The object is to win - to beat the other guy. Maybe that sounds hard or cruel. I don't think it is. "It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That's why they are there - to compete. To know the rules and objectives when they get in the game. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules - but to win. "And in truth, I've never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn't appreciate the grind, the discipline. There is something in good men that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat. "I don't say these things because I believe in the 'brute' nature of man or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hour - his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear - is that moment when he has to work his heart out in a good cause and he's exhausted on the field of battle - victorious." --Vince Lombardi
  16. My apologies to Wibadgers23 but I think we need to go in a different direction today.?No stats, no standings, no worries.?It is my belief that we as Brewer fans are not doing everything possible to get this team over the hump into the promise land but that will change, it needs to. We need to motivate these players and give them everything we have and show them that even though they are struggling in Philly we are there with them in spirit. We need to get them pumped up by any means possible so give me your motivational speeches, give me your videos that will start the adreneline flowing, give me your picture showing that we will never give up. Give me everything you have and don't leave any regrets on the table because it's a mighty long offseason and if you let your team, your fellow forum members, and yourself down, it will only get longer and lonlier. There are two ways we can go from here, up or down, make your choice, are you still with the team playing the violen with the ship no matter what the course or are you grabbing the first lifejacket for fear of sinking? I will start it off and since we are in Philly...
  17. I took it off youtube as since I put it on the Brewers have been doing poorly. Yes, I believe in jinxes.
