  2. well that was pretty anti-climactic.. who are those guys?
  3. he was in line in front of me at chipotle this afternoon. burrito w/ guac http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. I realize its not a no-hitter, but maybe we can help by not talking about a certain pitcher's decent start in helena
  5. I would take Uggla in a heartbeat over Weeks. He has proven consistently over his career and has put up near HoF numbers for a middle infielder. Weeks has had one solid season surrounded by a lot of bad ones.
  6. why would the brewers deal Weeks? That makes no sense given their desire to "go for it" this year. If he has a bad year, they re-sign him for cheap. If he has a good year, they will take the picks unless the Crew is out of the running early and want to dump salary.
  7. not as good as stealing auto parts as he is at stealing bases, apparently
  8. part of the reason i switched to directv was that Dish would show many more games in SD
  9. yeah, I have to think Rogers is going to play somewhere on the team. If Narveson holds and there are no injuries, I can see Rogers used in long relief or possibly as a setup man. But if healthy and he continues to improve as we've seen to date, I don't see why he won't be used somewhere.
  10. I read this as "well, if Rickie wants to do something us, he'd better let his agent know".. just didnt feel very positive to me
  11. I think Gamel has a place on this year's team. I could see sliding over Hart to center to get Gamel's lefty bat as one platoon and keeping Gomez in CF and Hart in right as the other platoon.
  12. there have been many players in the NFL who have had many, many opportunities..long after they were believed to be busts.. Akili Smith? Ryan Leaf? If you were drafted by someone in the first round, you will likely get shots with several teams before they stop calling you.
  13. if the Brewers couldnt tempt CC with $100MM, I doubt they'll be able to tempt Greinke at $50MM.. I think any deal has to start at $100MM
  14. considering Prince is off the books next year, you deduct the $2MM from the Royals as cash in hand this year
  15. Figure this deserves a thread along the lines of the Inman/Garrison thread. The trade for Greinke will define the tenure of the GMs for the Royals and Brewers
  16. I was really exciting about hearing about this deal until i heard Odorizzi was in play. With how stacked the Phillies are, I just dont see the Brewers overtaking them. Odorizzi is the pitcher we've been waiting for, the ace that you find after drafting all those busts in the first 2 rounds. Now we give up 6 cheap years of him, 6 years of a dominant closer type in Jeffress, 6 years of CF Cain, and 5 of Escobar? Talk about mortgaging your future on an outside shot.. I guess Melvin feels its "win now" or get fired, anyways. Not much for him to lose, here. But after these next 2 years are up, it's gonna be a long, long drought for Brewers fans. It will be the same old story of trying unsuccessfully to acquire starting pitching, while praying some scrub draft pick pans out.
  17. devils advocate here, but: - Brewers have no elite position player prospects past single-A - Brewers have 2 big name pitching prospects above single-A, but both have been in the org a while and have major concerns: Rogers injury, stamina, control.. Jeffress drugs, pitch variety, can't start? - last 3 #1 picks: Lawrie=traded, Arnett = bust?, Covey=unsigned yes, the Brewers have quality depth imo, but not many marquee players that havent lost their luster above A-ball
  18. it's one season, but I'd have Scooter Gennet in the top 10, probably above Morris..
  19. I'm high on both, but want them both to start the year in the minors. Rogers is not allowed to go 120 pitches yet, and that is a dangerous situation to leave your bullpen in. We saw what happened this year when we opted to stick with Suppan and put so much pressure on the pen. We need a Rogers that can go 120 pitches without being too scared. I see him starting the year in the minors and building up to the 120 pitchers, and then we call him up. If we skip or delay a few starts to keep his arm fresh, I'm all for that as well.
  20. good post. I guess I'm not terribly concerned about position players throughout the org, because the entire current roster is locked up for a while. By the time we start turning players over 3 or 4 years from now, we'll be talking about new players that arent in our system anyways.. and there of course will be some players that surprise us in the positive as well.
  21. i definitely think you have to sign him. At worst, he provides good long relief. At best, he helps solidify the rotation. Still need to big, top of the rotation starter, however.
  22. Brewers have lost their spot to the Astros, who are competing with the Cubbies for that 9/11 spot now. I dont know how the tiebreakers play out, but hopefully we lose the finale and avoid the possibility of dropping from 12 to 14. A win by the Dodgers & Marlins today would mean its safe to root for the Crew in the finale.. EDIT: with the Marlins win tonight and the Dodgers leading, it looks like the Crew will be picking at #12..and we can safely root for a Brewer win over Cinci tomorrow
