  1. the team was giving bush room to save face.. if he's going to be angry, be angry about the performances
  2. wow, people actually pining for Yost's use of pitchers? amazing.
  3. In recent years, the Brewers have overpaid for mediocre talent, especially in pitching, to fill out the roster: Suppan, Gagne, Hall, Looper, and each of the last several pitching staffs... If you can stock enough "average" starters for cheap, you can spend a few bucks on the stars (Braun, Yo) and then you still have money left to go after a #1 starter and probably another star...
  4. well I guess I was mistaken on the walks. Must have been distracted by my 3 little ones jumping all over the place
  5. just got back from the T-Rats. It seemed like Arnett was throwing fairly hard and locating alright, but I didnt know where the stadium gun was and I wasnt in a good position to watch any movement on the pitches. I thought he struck out 4, but apparently it was only 3. I believe it was Lara that crushed one off Arnett, but the ump called it foul. It may have cleared the foul pole in fair territory but it was pretty high up there so hard to tell. Other than that, there were 2 weak popups that cleared the infield and maybe 4 ground balls, 2 of which I think were DPs. The one hit could have easily been an out as it was hit fairly hard up the middle but Fatse could have made a play on it; not sure if it was off his glove. I feel his performance was pretty solid. %!#%*$ (edit: h.o.o.k.3.r) made a couple of T-Rats look foolish, most noticeably Chris Dennis, righty vs lefty with a man on second. Dennis fouled off 3 pitches, but just barely getting pieces of them. All of them were fouled off quite late as it seemed he couldnt get his bat around. Then he had 2 bad whiffs for the K. Dykstra looked pretty silly in his K, but not quite as noticeable. After the storm came in, we headed out and a bunch of the players were hanging out near the stadium entrance watching the impressive storm roll in. I didnt recognize who they are (I'm not familiar with what the players look like), but a couple of players went back in to fetch balls & a marker to get my son some autographs. It was a pretty good deal, aside from the storm. Bleacher seats 10 rows back from the catcher, 2 for 1 on Tuesday with Kraft singles, so we paid like $15 for the 4 of us (dollar dogs, beer, sodas) and will probably be able to reuse the tix. Box scored states no BBs for Arnett.. thats not correct. I seem to recall 2, but could have been 1.
  6. Lucroy was obvious, but I'd have taken Braddock over Rivas
  7. Fans are often going to pick a favorite and go with it; you should expect that. Lucroy is leading the "what have you done for me lately", but I dont think anyone could sincerely project one over the other (Lucroy vs Salome), and that is the general sentiment here. They were born one week apart, so neither is looked at as the young upstart over the other. If anything separates Angel from Lucroy in the fans eyes, aside from recent performance, its the disheartening suspension. We just lost one of our top prospects (Jeffress) to multiple suspensions, so the fans are understandably a bit on edge about the subject. Whether a simple mistake or not, the lack of discretion will take some time to overcome for some of us on the outside. There are no fans looking for him to fail. They are concerned that another of our top prospects continues to miss playing time. As for having 2 great catching prospects, its a nice problem for the organization to have. With no word about why another delay, us fans were left to speculate as should be expected.
  8. another night of SD from Dish. I dont think I've been able to see but a few games in HD so far this year. I sent in a complaint via email & debating calling them. Might have to make the switch.
  9. i think pointing to the "run differential" of 35 runs doesnt do it justice. In the 40-11 series, the Brewers had a run differential of 29, but the key stat is that they had approximately 4 times the runs of their opponent. The 35-run differential this series is great, but it pales in compares to the stat they scored 36 TIMES the Pirates 1-run. I'm wondering what's the most runs in a series, while holding an opponent to 1 or less.
  10. yeah i was thinking this too. One of the player platoons with Gamel at 1B and is the backup catcher 1 of 3 days. Then you have 3 young guys (Gamel, Lucroy, Salome) getting 66% playing time, barring injury.
  11. is it possible he's headed to Milwaukee? They had a long look at him at least helping during camp. With his spotty playing time, he might be comfortable in a Kottaras role, being groomed behind someone withe experience. (with apologies to those who are pining for Kottaras over Zaun). EDIT: please dont be PEDs, please dont be PEDs..
  12. all else being equal in terms of team success (good or bad), Prince will add revenues to the team. There is going to be a contingent of fans, if he leaves this year, that are going to immediately turn the Brewers off (based on his departure) and that could carry into next year. "same old brewers, couldnt keep Molitor / Carlos Lee / Cordero / Sabbathia / Prince". A lot of paying fans dont follow the team all that closely; they just go off feel, and it would "feel" like yet another salary dump.
  13. I guess I'd be surprised to see him moved this year. Even if the Brewers are average this year, their pitching should improve next year. It gives the Brewers all next season to decide to keep or trade Fielder next year as the deadline approaches. If the Brewers are in the running and he eventually walks, they get 2 draft picks in return, but they remain in the playoff picture. If they are out of it, they can pull a Sabbathia kind of deal.. where the Crew had to give up their #7 overall pick along with other top prospects. Meanwhile, Prince will continue to put fans in the seats this year and next at a cheap price to the org. I just cant see a move unless they were completely out of it and landed some young pitching stud in return.
  14. That's not really true. Now the Brewers minor league system has more pitching than hitting, it's just that most of it is at the lower levels. Brewers have ample pitching throughout the minors, including the upper minors.
  15. its so nice to look at the pitchers taking the mound on any given day and be genuinely interested in how they all fare
  16. maybe its me, but I feel when the players put pressure on the org to move them up, Melvin get antsy and deals them if he doesnt have an immediate opening... like dealing Nelson Cruz for a bag of balls..
  17. may as well start the discussion. With Hawkins sucking wind the past few outings (maybe misused in the first of the last 2), should Braddock be the new setup man? Who would the Brewers cut?
  18. maybe Pujols would be a better fit for Milwaukee
