I'd be interested if someone projected his career out prior to the power surge following the "normal" player's rise and fall to see how many hits he'd have. McGriff? You're kidding, right...? Not even close. And that leaves us with: Bonds. I say absolutely because of his peripherals.

    I'm going to say absolutely not. McGwire's admitted usage of andro (a steroid precursor) - while legit at the time - began the overinflation of stats and - in my opinion - the rise of heavier steroid usage. The big questions that would need to be answered are: 1. For how long did he use andro, 2. How good was he before andro, 3. How much better was he on andro, 4. How long did he play on andro, 5. Testimony a la Giambi's that gets "leaked" - what did McGwire admit to using, when did he use it As far as I'm concerned, his election to the Hall would serve to remind baseball everyday of this black eye.

    They're not, but that's not the point here. The point is: There are more productive ways to get a Game Strategy Forum. Obviously the tactic being used isn't working, so try something else. Generate some interest, through threads. See how the people respond.

    BJames, wouldn't a *logical* solution be to create discussion threads on the MLB (or whatever appropriate) board and hold the strategy debates there? And then, at some point in the future, if there's enough interest, take this issue up again with Brian?

    And how will a *couple* of starts affect him right now? I'm not saying to use Eveland EXCLUSIVELY in the #5 spot - THAT would be stupid. But I AM saying to try out some of these younger guys looking towards '06 and trying to see what does work.

    I know... they're trying to keep his innings count down but... at the same time... if we're supposedly trying to stay "competitive," we're better off seeing what he can do rather than putting Helling out there. IMO Helling is no longer capable of being a regular SP. It doesn't have to be Eveland... I only said him because I want to see what he's capable of in prep for 2006.
