  1. Beyond Segura, none of our hitters are "young guys". Weeks is a veteran, and contributing next to nothing. Lucroy is a vet, and is struggling mightily. Betancourt and Gonzalez are old guys, and after a hot streak by Yuni to start the season, we are getting little from them. Hard to win when 1/2 of your lineup is not producing anything at all. And when we are in a position to win, our manager makes a dumb decision like putting Axford and his 9 + ERA in for the 8th with a 3-2 lead. We're playing poorly as it is, and on the occasion when we do play well, our skipper sabotages us. Our pitching is bad, but our hitting might be worse. We're 20th in the Majors in scoring. For all the hitting exploits of Gomez and Segura, they're not scoring a lot of runs. Both are on a pace to score 91 times. For guys stealing as many bases as they are, and both hitting over .350, that's awful. Braun is Braun. The last two seasons, when he won the MVP and was MVP runner up, he had OPS stats of .994 and .986. This year, he's a .992. He's hitting well, driving in runs, and playing great defense. Segura is playing at an MVP level, as is Gomez. Aoki's playing great, hitting over .300 with an .821 OPS. Few teams in the Majors can put together a better top of the order. And yet, we're about to go 7 games under .500. Considering we were 2-8, and fought to get back to 3 games over .500 at 14-11, that's absolutely awful.
  2. Why was Ramirez off to start the night? What's worse right now, our hitting, or our pitching?
  3. Weeks with a home run to narrow it to 2-1! Did I just say that?
  4. So Yo's throwing a one hitter, and we can't score. When it rains, it pours. The Pirates are supposed to be our cure all, aren't they?
  5. Once again, because it just so amply demonstrates my feelings at this minute after having another defeat snagged from the jaws of victory. http://www.otherwhere.co/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/SmashingHeadOnKeyboard.gif
  6. Well, that's just the icing on tonight's cupcake. Just when I thought I couldn't be any more mad.
  7. Fiers is the last pitcher in our pen, so if it goes to 13, we're going to have a position player out there. Seriously, how much dumb can one manager show in a single game? Is Mark Attanasio seeing this?
  8. F off, Pirate fans. "20 losing seasons in a row, 20 losing seasons in a row."
  9. Defensive gem, then a game winning home run. How often do you see that? Let's hope we see #8 do that tonight!
  10. Huh, missed it by 4 points. I'm surprised. I knew Arky was a Hall of Famer, but never imagined he hit that high in one season.
  11. Clemente's single season high was .357, so I knew it wouldn't be him. He's my second favorite all-time player behind Yount.
  12. http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/5986/speede.png "You have a 3-2 lead in the 8th inning on the road against a divisional opponent. What do you do, Ron Roenicke? What do you do?"
