  1. I've never heard my black lab laugh before. Most of the time, he sleeps, licks himself, drops the occasional righteous fart...but I could have sworn when Axford came in from the bullpen, I actually heard him snickering.
  2. Anybody else on MLB.tv having some serious picture quality issues on this game?
  3. Just waiting for the post game presser now. "I feel horrible that we couldn't get Kyle the win". Thanks in advance, Ron.
  4. It's ok, Doc, I'm trying to remain positive. I'm the happiest, most positive guy you'll ever meet. But there's something about Ron Roenicke that makes my colon clench. Leaving a clearly struggling Rickie Weeks in without a day off, putting a guy with a 9 + ERA in with a one run lead in the eighth....these are things that will test any man's patience. Come on, Ax. Two more outs!
  5. Quick, anybody know a sports book in Vegas that will take a first time better? I'll wager we don't make it out of this inning with the lead.
  6. http://www.robotshop.com/blog/en/files/lost-in-space.jpg 9.22 ERA. Danger, danger!!
  7. Damn it. Brewers just flailing away up there. We might be hitting for average, but we're sure not driving in runs.
  8. Ryan Braun is just good at baseball. Wow. I get some people will always have doubts about him regarding the steroids issue (until the facts actually come out). But I don't get how people can watch him play, and infer that he needs them to be the superstar he is. He's got one of the sweetest swings I've ever seen from a right handed hitter. He's got a great eye, and incredible bat speed. I've watched baseball a long time. Brauny's one of the great ones, and I'd bet everything I have that his success is due to hard work and natural ability, and not some chemical assistance.
  9. We need to score some more runs here. A one run lead with our bullpen doesn't leave me feeling confident. This is a big game, and we need to hold on. And the prospects of calling up KRod makes me feel uneasy. As in "warning, danger, Will Robinson".
  10. I don't have slow mo on the Roku, but real time, it did look like he was safe. And from Braun's reaction, I think he was.
  11. Hmm, I don't know if he was out there. PrinceFielderx1 /tips cap
  12. I don't think he's tall enough... Call up Hellweg, and have him sit on Johnny's shoulders.
  13. Dare I say....man crush? I tell you guys, as much as I like winning, getting World Series and Super Bowl victories as a huge Brewer and Packer fan, if we can't win it all, having players that are exciting to watch makes for great entertainment value. And that's why I watch. When Carlos Gomez hits a home run, and zooms around the bases in 5 seconds, I giggle like a little kid. When Ryan Braun hits a ball to Sheboygan, I whoop and holler. And I find myself clapping an awful lot when the ball is anywhere near Jean Segura, regardless if he's holding a bat or a glove in his hands.
  14. Something mentioned in that Rosenthal article caught my eye. Jean sends money back home every month to his family in the Dominican Republic. There's a very good possibility he looks for long term security. But regardless of what might happen with locking him up long term or not, the more I see him play, and the more I read about him, the more I like Jean Segura. He's got a great smile, and it's always on display. What a nice young man. We're lucky to have him.
  15. It takes most MLB players, even the great ones, a year or two to adjust to the speed of the Major League game. Segura's no exception. He's kept working (remember, he won the Dominican Winter League batting title, so he's been working in the offseason, too). There are very few great hitters that just come out and dominate right out of the box.
  16. I think the gap between Tulo and Segura is rapidly closing. Both are Gold Glove caliber defensive shortstops, both can hit for power, Tulo moreso. Both can hit for average. The difference is Jean's speed. He's going to steal 40-50 bases. Love this kind of debate. And even more, I love that I have both on my fantasy team.
  17. I'm with you, TooLiveBrew. And I don't think you're blindly holding out hope. Will he ever become the player we all thought he could be? Probably not. But let the guy get healthy, I mean really healthy, and see if he can't come off the bench next year. Finding left handed hitters with that kind of a swing and power potential would cost a lot of money, and I think Gamel could provide some real value to us.
