  1. Keep running that pitch count up. Let's get into their bullpen.
  2. Rickie is starting to feel it. Showing just a little more patience at the plate. God, it would be great to see him get it going!!
  3. Profar's going to be a .300 hitter. He's got quite a bat himself, though I think Taveras is going to be more of a power hitter and run producer. Just my feelings from watching him hit. He's got a real high leg kick, and when he uncoils, man, the kid's got just incredible bat speed. The barrel just moves through the strike zone. I'm watching him, Wil Myers (now in the Rays system) and Nick Castellanos of the Tigers. Three really good young hitters. But imo, Taveras will be the best of them all. And just our luck.
  4. I think he's about to break out in a big way. He's really nutting the ball right now. Aramis can't come back fast enough.
  5. Seems to me it's been death by paper cuts tonight. 13 base runners in 4 innings though is not good.
  6. Come on Wily, get it together. You need to get this guy out. How about a nice double play ball?
  7. I just got my new Baseball America today. There's still rumblings that the Cardinals and Rangers might swap their top prospects, Jurickson Profar for Oscar Taveras. I think Profar is going to be a great all around shortstop, but the prospects of having to face Taveras 18 times a season is something I'd rather avoid if at all possible. This kid's going to be a monster. So, I'd love for that trade to happen. Plus, I could see him at person at the Ballpark in Arlington. The Cardinals system is just loaded. Kolten Wong, Michael Wacha and Taveras coming, Shelby Miller just came up (we see him tomorrow).
  8. "The Cardinals have blown 6 saves already". Just hang on, Brian, #7 is coming up.
  9. That is huge for the Brewers. Hopefully that means that Gonzalez won't ever start ever again... That would please me greatly. Thanks, chickinbrickin. I need to stay positive, and not let the little things get to me.
  10. It looks like they haven't really been hitting Wily hard, just a lot of singles. Two can play that game. We're at home, and we have lots of innings to go.
  11. There we go! Keep chipping away! We're not out of this by any means.
  12. GoGo!! Two men on, no outs. Lets keep the ducks moving around the pond!
  13. Oof, Shelby Miller tomorrow. Gotta get the bats going tonight. That's a start. Good job, Rickie! Take what they give you.
  14. We are going to get back into this game. I feel the offense is going to wake up.
  15. Aramis being back is going to do more to help Brauny get back on track. He's already warming up, going 6 for 13 in the Pittsburgh series, but now they can't pitch around him at all with the big guy behind him.
  16. I agree. That's awesome, lol.
  17. This again? LOL. Earth to the Pirates. We don't need to steal your signs to beat you into oblivion.
  18. I missed the game, but it's really good to see Rickie break out of it. 23 total pitches in his 5 at bats. I hope this is the start of a rebound for him. I really want to see him do well. 8 homers in two games. I like it!!
  19. I think at his peak Jean Segura could really be a 15-20 home run a season guy. I'm not kidding. When I've talked with people about him in other places, they just don't see it. The kid's strong, a lot stronger than people give him credit for. And those arms and wrists give him some outstanding bat speed. Far too many people think a hitter has to be 6'3 220 lbs to be a power hitter. Power comes from bat speed, as Ted Williams said. He said he could generate power with a lighter bat because of the additional speed he could generate, and I believe him. I consider Williams the greatest pure hitter the game has ever seen. Hank Aaron is another one. Compare Jean to Hank Aaron: Jean Segura 5'10" 200 lbs Hank Aaron 6' 180 lbs Not that much different. Aaron was a great power hitter because he had some of the strongest wrists a hitter has ever had. I've read quite a few accounts about how Aaron could wait longer on pitches than most hitters because he could drive the bat through the strike zone so much quicker than almost anybody else. It gave him just a little more time to identify the pitch. Aaron didn't have a lot of loft to his home runs, but he was so strong, and so quick, that a lot of the line drives he hit just flew into the stands. We've already seen Jean Segura use the entire field when hitting. He's outstanding at taking the ball to right field. He's so good that he could win a batting title or two. That's not hyperbole. As of at least a few days ago, he was leading the Majors in infield hits. He's got the eye to take what's given to him, and make it work. And he's got the speed to beat out routine grounders. Don't be surprised if this guy is a consistent .300 + hitter like Braun year in and year out.
