  1. Two things I gather from this thread: A: Brewers fans are just as bad as Cubs fans but neither are as bad as the holier-than-thou Cardinals. B: I agree.....Joe Maddon is awesome.
  2. Pot meet kettle. You don't think Cubs fans don't get annoyed with annoying Brewer fans who invade Wrigley. It happens with every fan base. Personally, I thought this was payback for how annoying Brewers fans were when the Brewers visited Wrigley. Can't we get call it a truce and continue our mutual hatred of the Cards?
  3. They inept for a good portion of his career, I give you that, but Ernie did play on soon playoff quality teams late in his career. Unfortunately too little, too late. You hate the Cubs because of a portion of the fans are obnoxious jerks? Not logically, because that would mean you would hate every team in MLB because every teams has those fans. RIP Mr. Cub, go play two with #10.
  4. They have a pretty good stash of young players and a good amount of money. They could probably acquire just about any player they want right now via trade or free agency and adding La Stella adds to their depth to trade from. I'm hoping TLS is closer to Todd Walker than Blake DeWitt, to be honest. It wouldn't surprise me if TLS is the starting 2b for the Cubs while Baez is at Iowa ironing out his swing.
  5. Imo, there won't be tampering charges. Cubs asked and got permission from MLB AFTER Maddon opted out. In the case there is tampering charges, T.B. isn't getting anything significant (look at what the WS got for Guillen). This is pretty much sour grapes by T.B. Again, there won't be any tampering charges.
  6. That was my thought as well. Yes, Russell is an amazing talent, but other than that? I'm underwhelmed. I think Hammel by himself could pull in more than McKinney and Straily. To get both pitchers in one deal, you'd think the A's would need to give up a premium. I think it's a decent deal by the cubs, but not really that big of a haul. The Cubs also got the A's #2 or 3 prospect in McKinney, who is an intriguing talent himself. Straily is about to become Chris Bosio (you guys remember Bosio, ) new pet project. If Jake Arrieta, Scott Feldman, 2013 Travis Wood, Jason Hammel, (now if the Cubs can get Ed Jackson to listen to Bosio) are any indication, then Straily is going to become a really good pitcher. The deal is a little light for my taste, but they still did very well. And should the PTBNL become a "Neil Ramirez" type talent, then this deal becomes awesome. Yes, the Cubs are getting a PTBNL. Morosi and Rosenthal are wrong on that.
  7. Gamel will be a Cub just like Jeff Bianchi was a Cub.
  8. I know he's your guy and all, but I cannot see how people can defend Carlos Gomez. I get he's remembers getting hitearlier in the year but to flat and do something as juvenile as "stop and star" at a homerun ball, nope. I believe Brian McCann showed remarkable restrain because had it been me behind the plate (speaking as a former catcher) Gomez would have either taken a fist off his face, or I would have gone Kyle Farnsworth/Paul Wilson on him as he got near. With that said both McCann and Gomez should have been ejected.
  9. So says the fan of the team that won three out of four in this series.
  10. I don't agree at all. Olt has bust written all over him. Being a bust doesn't mean you can't be a major leaguer, and Olt will be a major leaguer.
  11. FYI, Olt is not the future at 3B for the Cubs. Olt will most likely flipped for pitching in the not-so-distant future. If Olt is the future at 3b for the Cubs it is because Baez is the centerpiece for a blockbuster trade. I simply hope Olt's vision has been corrected. As for Edwards, love the arm but unless he eats a hamburger or two, I don't see him reaching #1 potential. All in all this is one heck of a deal for the Cubs.
  12. At least the Cubs and the Brewers have one thing in common? A complete and utter disguist over the St. Louis Pixie Dust Cardinals. Baseball season is over. MLB can try to sell it but I have no interests in a NYY/St.Lou WS and I think most of MLB fans agree with me. So off to football and basketball season, cause I cannot stomach watching the Cards. And if I hear a Card fan have a "woe is me" attitude about not getting breaks, I will smack them. There is no god.
  13. You're not going to say that in two years. With that said, no hard feelings for the past two series. You guys are the better team and the Cubs are definately taking their lumps. Good series for you guys.
  14. As Cub fan I agree with the notion that Castro isn't an elite shortstop right now. But this extension he signed means Theo and company believes he will become an elite SS very soon. Either way, this is one smart move by the Cubs, something you could not or would say about previous Cub regimes.
