  1. I believe it said if they need Thornburg, he can pitch in relief, but it's believed he will start Saturday.
  2. "If" Greinke did come back, what affect does that have on Hart moving to a different position? I assume you are referring to more of a trade then anything else. Gamel has the potential to play out in RF next year. He has a canon for an arm, and pretty accurate one to boot. For his size his speed is slightly above average, but relatively slow for an outfielder. In my opinion, similar to what Hart had to offer (speed wise) before moving over to 1B. There is the whole discussion of, "should we move him again". If RRR wants Hart to "hang up his outfield glove" this is one of the last places Gamel has to prove himself. Khris Davis could impose a very interesting situation for the Brewers. Like you mentioned, he destroyed the ball in AA and is doing the same thing in AAA. However, there is absolutely no way they move Braun out of a position he is comfortable with for Kh. Davis. If anything, Davis moves over to RF (depending on arm strength). Up until now Clint Coulter was really struggling with the stick...and even more-so catching. His last few games have really jumped his average up, considerably. The way his defense has been I don't expect to see him stick at catcher. Personally, I have never seen someone put up such horrifyingly poor defensive stats as Coulter has. I'm not saying he doesn't have opportunity to turn it around, but if he is this bad at defense, I can't see him staying there much longer. The Brewers farm system is in a much, much better place than where it was even half a year ago. This year's draft replenished the system with players who actually have the potential to hit. I must say, the system is fun to listen and watch; ESPECIALLY Huntsville.
  3. Ding ding! The whole "rumor" seems like pure speculation, and nothing more. Granted Shoppach is better, I see no reason why we would be interested when Maldonado will be just as serviceable.
  4. If Segura performs well in his first two weeks I fully expect to see him in the majors. No one can do worse than Ransom or Izturis.
  5. Even more ridiculous, Kh. Davis is batting .561 in his last 10 games. Home run and gap power could really turn him into an interesting prospect.
  6. Jean Segura hits a double off the wall in center field (405 ft) in his second at-bat!
  7. I probably should have edited my post as half way through writing it I noticed he had a promotion. Either way, strong DSL performance and looking good in Maryvale already.
  8. I'm not sure how I missed him, but Eduard Reyes is having a very quiet, yet successful season for Maryvale. Tonight (so far) 4.1 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 6 K. Season Total (DSL): 45.1 IP, 37 H. 20 R (7 ER), 11 BBs, 51 SO, 1.39 ERA.
  9. Zack Greinke just stated it is a "definite possibility" he could return to the Brewers next year. Take it as a grain of salt, or something meaningful. I found it encouraging he said something like that.
  10. Do I win anything for mentioning Rogers as a call-up?
  11. Thanks for your sharing. I am actually really surprised to hear Byrd reaches middle 90's with his fastball, I always pictured him in the low 90's-high 80's.
  12. Yesterday, I was speaking with a few Texas Rangers fans (very knowledgeable ones) regarding possible trades. I can't recall if it was on here or Twitter, but Martin Perez and Justin Grimm have both been mentioned/suggested in a trade. All three said Perez and Grimm for Greinke alone was asking too much. Even though Grimm is rated as their #20th best prospect, some see him as their second best pitching prospect after Perez. It could be the case of fans overvaluing their prospects, which everyone does, but I thought that was kind of interesting.
  13. As Fondy pointed out, how do you know the Brewers won't be in contention next year? With a stable bullpen and less injuries this team would be far better off than where they currently are. The Cardinals are getting older, the Reds likely won't make any drastic moves. The NL Central will likely be week again next year, bearing any major signings or trades. The Brewers could absolutely be in contention next year if everything connects.
  14. Slappzilla, no one is saying "Greinke will be back, I guarantee it". There are reasons out there that give some of us fans the indication it may be possible. Your above comparison with Lebron James makes it sound like there is -550% chance of it happening. Do I necessarily think he will come back? No. Do I think he will be interested in the idea? Absolutely. For all we know this could be Greinke's fun little game to see how things run.
  15. Cliff Lee had no signs of even wanting to go back, and possibly even getting more money elsewhere, yet he went back to the Phillies. Not sure why it isn't looked at as being possible.
