  1. And according to the latest update on sportsnetwork.com, Huntsville is down 5-0 after 5.
  2. Beloit is still trailing 3-2, after 4. Snapper batters have struck out 9 times in 4 innings. Edit: It is now 4-2 after Kane County hits another solo HR in the 7th. Edit: Stetter came in to pitch the 8th. Going to the 9th still down by 2.
  3. Snappers take a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning on a 2-run HR by Heether. Edit: Cougars tie the game on a 2-run HR in the bottom of the 1st. Edit: Snappers trail 3-2 after giving up a solo HR in the 3rd.
  4. Did anyone else wonder if it was a correct move to PH Kieschnick in a tie game without putting him in to pitch an inning? Maybe he was not available to pitch, but I thought with relievers doing all the pitching and a possible extra-inning game, using him as a PH wasted the opportunity to get a inning of pitching out of him later.
  5. Disappointing Mavs game, especially after leading 3-0 in the 1st on a 3-run HR by Hinton, they couldn't score afterwards. Inland Empire scored the winning run in the 8th, I believe it was off David Bradley for the loss.
  6. "Just a thought... is it wise to have a pitcher for the Mavs named Homer-o? That's just asking for trouble." I guess I'd rather it be Homer-o than Homer-lots...
  7. There have been no more updates on the Beloit game. I wonder if it is delayed by rain. I don't know pitchers or much in the way of details, just getting updates from sportsnetwork.com today.
  8. It's unbelievable. Cedar Rapids has its fourth 5-run inning of the day, and has jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 3 innings of the second game of the doubleheader. Edit: Obviously sportsnetwork.com was acting up and this information is wrong. Sorry about that.
  9. Ford again? Did they have anyone else available? Edit: I guess they just wanted to get a save situation for Kolb.
  10. That's a final in the 1st game: Beloit loses 16-0. Good thing they have a second chance to win a game today, I guess.
  11. That was just a bad inning for the Brewers with 2 errors and a walk. Of course the game isn't over, but it sure would be nice to take the first lead in the early innings for once.
  12. Beloit is apparently down 5-0 after 1 inning. Edit: 5 more in the 4th for Cedar Rapids, they are up 10-0 in the 5th. Edit: Good grief! Another 5-spot in the 6th following a 5th inning run, and Beloit is down 16-0 in the 7th.
  13. Erdos came in and set them down in order in the 8th. But the Indians provided no threat in the 9th, striking out 3 times in a row, and lose 3-2. Hart was not in the lineup. I only heard speculation about Hardy, nothing definite. They talked as though surgery is a definite possibility, and that if surgery was performed, it would probably cost him the rest of the season.
  14. Ottawa took a 3-2 lead later in the 7th off of Michalek, with 3 straight hits. As well as Adams performed today, Michalek really struggled.
  15. Michalek came in to pitch the 6th. The Indians have gotten double plays with 2 runners on in both the 5th and 6th to preserve the lead. In the 5th, Nunnally caught a short fly and threw out a runner at home to end the inning. In the 6th, Magruder caught a long fly and threw out a runner at 3rd, after the first two runners got on base. And now as I write this, Ottawa ties the game in the 7th off Michalak, on another solo HR.
  16. Indy takes a 1-0 lead in the 3rd on a double by Scarborough and an RBI single by Knox. Edit: It's now 2-0 on doubles by Nunnally and Figueroa in the 5th. Edit: Ottawa scores on a HR off Adams in the bottom of the 5th. It's 2-1 Indy.
  17. Jason Childers gives up another run in the top of the 9th, so the Indians go to the bottom of the 9th down by 3. Edit: And it's over, final score 4-1 Charlotte. Indians left a few on base in this one.
  18. Hardy just singled in the 8th for his 4th single of the game. The Knights go to the bullpen for Kelly Wunsch, also on rehab assignment. Reichart has pitched the last couple innings for Indy.
  19. Indians score in the 6th on 3 hits when Mark Johnson singles in Hardy from 3rd. Nunnally then hit into a DP to end the inning. They are still trailing 3-1. Is Chris Coste injured? He left the game early.
  20. Former Brewer Jose Valentin on injury rehab is playing for Charlotte. Phelps just struck him out. The Brewers face his brother Javier tonight in Cincinnati.
  21. Doug Melvin is on the air with Indy broadcasters. Edit: Melvin said he is happy with the season the Brewers are having so far. "Never give up" is the theme- especially after the 2 wins against the Reds last week, that he called "Thrill Bill 1" and "Thrill Bill 2." Players have a lot of confidence in Yost- his hard work and positive outlook have created a lot of chemistry. That's all I got from that- nothing much more than we haven't heard before I guess. Edit: More Melvin- Capuano needs another week. Pitching he'd be fine, but has problems fielding and running. Indy has more young prospects than most AAA teams. Lost the feed for a bit and now Melvin is gone. As for the game, top of 3rd, no score.
  22. Just wanted to add an article on the "bathroom humor" part... *** And more... Indianapolis Star on Jeff Liefer's Thursday Night Fun: Blame delay of game on Liefer's relief work Indians wait 15 minutes for 1st baseman when he gets stuck in bathroom By Jeff Rabjohns jeff.rabjohns@indystar.com The Indianapolis Indians were taking the field for the fourth inning during Thursday night's game against Louisville when Tribe manager Cecil Cooper noticed he didn't see first baseman Jeff Liefer. "Then somebody yelled, 'He's locked in the john,' " Cooper said. There was Liefer, who spent parts of five seasons in the major leagues, stuck in the bathroom behind the home dugout at Victory Field. With the help of tools passed through an air vent, Liefer was eventually freed, but the incident caused a 15-minute delay in the Indians' 9-0 loss. "I flushed the toilet, went to open the door and the handle didn't work," Liefer said. He didn't have to yell for help because teammate Matt Erickson, who was waiting to use the bathroom next, heard Liefer jiggling the door handle. Erickson pounded on the door with his shoulder but got nowhere. The vent, located about a foot above the door, was then pried open and Liefer was handed a wrench. He got the handle off, but the bolt wouldn't turn. "So I was just sitting there with a door with no handle," he said. He eventually was handed a hammer and chisel and knocked the hinges off the door. "When I went back out there (on the field), the other team was messing with me a little, throwing toilet paper on the field," said Liefer, who went 0-for-3 in the game. "I don't think I've seen anything as funny as that," Cooper said. "I can't tell you what it comes close to. That's the funniest thing I've ever seen." Liefer rebounded nicely Friday, tying the franchise record with six RBIs in an 8-6 Tribe victory over Toledo. *** And the very next night this would happen -- Liefer says "Lock THIS in the bathroom!!!"
  23. Going to the 9th, Stars are up 9-3. Edit: And now it's over. Stewart finished up the win for Saenz.
  24. Indy wins 6-4. Liriano with the win, Jason Childers with the save, Sheldon with a HR, and Hart with 2 hits and 3 RBI. Indy box score Huntsville and West Tenn 2-2 through 7 innings.
