  1. "I get that Sexson and Gonzo walked and were at first and second, but how'd they score on an error by Overbay?" Groundball through Overbay's legs, down the right field line.
  2. All started with a two-out walk by Podsednik and a hustle play by Counsell.
  3. I have a feeling that one of these times Sexson is going to hurt us... I hope I'm wrong. Glad it wasn't this time.
  4. "I was at the Indianapolis/Richmond game on Sunday. Notice in the boxscore that both Adams and Michalak hit for themselves. Michalak in particular - he led off the bottom of the 10th with the Tribe down 8-6! Was there a reason why a pinch-hitter did not come up in this situation? When Adams batted a couple innings before, there were two out and none on, so that's a little more understandable, I suppose." Well it looks like they used up all their position players in the game. To me, it looks like they didn't feel the need to hit for Adams, then the next time through the order, they had no one left to pinch-hit for Michalak. They just didn't plan for extra innings.
  5. Mavs win 10-5. Nick Slack gives up a run in the 9th, but Mavs pitchers combine for 16 strikeouts- Hall 9 in 5 innings, Woolard 5 in 3 innings, and Slack 2 in 1 inning. Edit- Eure had 3 of High Desert's 15 hits, but the big hit was a bases loaded double by VandenBerg in the six-run fifth inning. The Mavs had been 0 for 9 on the season with the bases loaded.
  6. High Desert 10, Rancho Cucamonga 4, bottom of 8th. Bases loaded none out, Hinton's sac fly scores Morris with the only run of the inning. Woolard now in for his 3rd inning of work. Mavs have set season highs in runs (10) and hits (14). Edit- now the game goes to the bottom of the 9th.
  7. High Desert 9, Rancho Cucamonga 4 after 6 innings. Woolard is in to pitch for the Mavericks. Edit- same score through 7.
  8. "Indianapolis 7, Richmond (Braves) 6" I got busy at work and gave up on the internet feed with the Indians still down 3-0. Sounds like a great game I missed...
  9. Phelps is out after giving up a HR in the 4th. Wise is coming in to pitch. Indianapolis is now down 3-0. I'm listening to the Indians' radio for the first time, and they do a good job. I am having problems staying connected on the internet feed however.
  10. Indianapolis is behind 2-0 after 3 innings.
  11. "Houston has that knuckleballer (who couldn't throw a strike to save his life last Friday) starting Saturday." Jared Fernandez was optioned to AAA on Tuesday. According to the Astros' website, Brandon Duckworth will start on Saturday.
  12. I can help out while MassBrew is busy. Huntsville is off today, and starts a 3-game series at Montgomery tomorrow. High Desert plays Rancho Cucamonga at home tonight at 9 pm Central, with Bo Hall the scheduled starter. The Mavs are 2-5 on the year and trying to split the 4-game series in the finale with the Quakes, who are 4-2. Beloit plays at home against Peoria at 6:30 pm Central, with Brian Montalbo scheduled to start. The Snappers are 3-3 on the year and trying to take 3 of 4 in the series with the Chiefs, who are 2-4. 13. That time the Brewers had no problem walking Bonds to put the tying run on base.
  14. Way to give that rook an ERA. Now we can knock Franklin around.
  15. "Capuano seemed to have a good ratio, too." It was 58 strikes to 37 balls. They keep track of those things now.
  16. "You are wrong..... In today's lineup Ginter is batting 5th and Helms 6th. Ginter is playing 3rd and Helms 1st. You have it the other way in your lineup." Because Ginter actually replaces Overbay today. Helms stays in the same #6 spot, even though he moves to 1B. The point was that the batting order hasn't changed all season, just sometimes different players make up the order.
  17. High Desert scores 3 in the bottom of the 8th to take the lead and win 4-3 over Rancho Cucamonga. They win their second in a row to improve to 2-3.
  18. Interesting move to walk Pods with the heart of the order coming up. Must be sure they are going to get a DP out of Counsell. Would have been nice if Yost pinch hit there. edit: ok I'll eat my words.
  19. Would have been nice to get another inning, with the shutout going. But not with over 100 pitches already.
  20. Finally scored some of those runners.
  21. How come he didn't score on the groundout by Helms?
  22. "the better catcher (Moeller) is getting more playing time, and given that we'll skip the fifth starter a bunch of times, Moeller will get close to 75% of the starts, I'd guess." Really, how many times will we skip the 5th starter? I just doesn't seem like it happens very often. I only remember that happening once last year. Now, if you are saying the 5th starter is likely to change once or twice this season, I'll go with that.
  23. Cubs lose to Cincinnati 5-3!
  24. Uecker sure is having fun with that name, when he says it correctly...
