  1. They tried asking tough questions about the late season slide and Counsell yelled at them. Because Counsell thinks everybody else doesn't know anything.
  2. My point as I have said earlier is that Urias's stats are not that much inferior to anybody's in terms of ERA, etc. But his W-L record is eye-popping ... When a pitcher has an eye-popping 20-3 record and all his other stats are near the best of the rest, he should be in prime consideration for the Cy Young award. That is my point. I know you disagree ... but, that's where I'm at.
  3. MLB still stinks in the respect of these big-market teams able to pick up huge assets mid-season if things are not going great for them as they should be based on their exaggerated payrolls. I am quite proud of what the Brewers have been able to do these past 4-5 years in the face of that!
  4. Hopefully, the rearview mirror of the past two weeks makes things look farther away than they really are!
  5. I wasn't really trying to change your mind. Maybe moreso was just trying to realistically explain why he isn't a legit Cy Young candidate. You of course are more than welcome to hold the opposite opinion, though. Heck, I have plenty of baseball opinions that aren't really based in reality, too. Thank you for not being snide.
  6. No one is saying he isn't very good. Just that there are probably 4-5 pitchers who should probably be ahead of him in the Cy Young balloting. Your opinion, not mine ... can you accept that others have different opinions than yours?
  7. Because as you said ... wins are discounted far more nowadays than they were 10 years or more ago ... Which is 100% true. And which is why Urias will probably get a few down ballot votes, but won't come close to winning the Cy Young. Because as antiquated as baseball is at times, the way stats and numbers are viewed is evolving. There are simply better ways to determine pitching effectiveness and dominance than there used to be. Round and round we go ... LOL ... I still think that the W-L record of a starter is too-much-discounted nowadays when his other stats might not be quite as good as another guy but they are nearly as good ... think what you wish, but you won't change my mind tonight on that.
  8. Urias gets like 7 runs of support per start. Buehler does not. You don't think Buehler would have more wins than Urias if that were reverseds? They play for the same team with the same offense. How is that not luck? If Urias was winning games with a 4.## or 5.## ERA on that run support, then he is lucky. His ERA is 2.##; therefore, he is not so much lucky as he is very good.
  9. Because as you said ... wins are discounted far more nowadays than they were 10 years or more ago ... I believe that Urias will be in the conversation for the Cy Young after tonight far more than he was a few weeks ago, too.
  10. Why? I don't think that is close to obvious. The responses you got point out how arbitrary wins can be whether it be a starter or a reliever. Sometimes it's nothing more than a scoring decision. Wins only matter in the team sense. A reliever can luck his way into wins far more easily than a starter. Isn't that obvious?
  11. Oh yeah? Please, elaborate on those reasons. I'd love to hear them. You are smart. You can figure it out!
  12. I’ve also heard Counsell say that it’s important for pitchers to get into a routine. It seems strange to deviate dramatically from that routine just before the most important games of the season. Yep!
  13. Based on the argument being given, Suter is the better pitcher. Devin Williams has 8 wins Josh Hader has 4 wins. It takes both to equal the effectiveness of Suter! Starting pitcher wins are more meaningful as a stat than relief pitcher wins for fairly obvious reasons ...
  14. The Brewers appear to be overmatched versus the Cardinals and Dodgers ... will we do well against the improved Braves? I have my doubts ... this team is tailspinning ... CC didn't set goals out there for this team over the last two weeks and the team is sluggish and reeling, in my opinion.
  15. He probably would have won it 10 years ago. Butt not real sure that wins are really all that important of a stat anymore. When wins are not important, we have really gotten away from what is really important.
  16. Urias is the Cy Young winner in my book ... 20-3 says it all! ERA under 3.00 now ... the guy just won more than anyone else. He outpitched Burnes by a country mile tonight. Tough luck Woodruff should have a winning record, though!!!!
