  1. I enjoy Uecker as much as the next guy, but there is nothing more satisfying than listening to Ron Santo mutter "Oh Boy" over and over. He was about to say the 3 run lead was not insurmountable... then yack +1, basehit & yack +2... more "Oh boy" and "oh man"... the kicker was then he had to sing the 7th inning stretch. you can't write that stuff. Check out AM 720 in the middle of a rout for a good laugh. Trading Capuano for Sexson straight up right now would be a farcical lopsided deal.
  2. steve26... i saw your self-imposed weeklong ban yesterday. i would have seriously considered joining you (and meaning it) if i didn't live in chicago. i just wont be able to stay away from the tribune or the chants for dusty's head this week... thank you carlos.
  3. Stupid things to say to get them out of the way: ****** This series is the first step towards a wildcard! I can't believe we're playing down to our competition. If they can't beat the Royals in June how are they supposed to beat the [choose one (Reds, Astros, Dodgers, Phillies)] in Septmeber? (DB going well) - Doug Melvin... nugget genius! (DB tanking) - We need a trade to shore up the back end of the rotation. Now that we're at .500 the worst is behind us. or @#%$! I'm going to the venting thread! ******

  5. Here's what I don't think is so special (walk-offs excluded) about our "well we have 24 come from behind victories this year"... We scored in the 1st, meaning Detroit was playing a "come from behind game" Detroit led in the 2nd, meaning we were playing a "come from behind game" Pretty much all teams, every day, each game play where you can frame a W as a "come from behind" win. I'd much rather like to see the stat about "runaway games"... score some, don't look back, keep scoring... doesn't seem we get enough of those.
  6. My absolute favorite line in the box score: Inherited Runners Scored: Capellan 3-0
  7. YES! I can't wait to face Zumaya and Jones again!
  8. Ode to Chad Hating you Mr. Moeller is not a fad Batting with the determination of a 9-year undergrad Your dollar-ninety average... sad sad sad Catching painful to see, sinking feeling in the gonads A matinee after the nightcap no Miller... mad mad mad You get playing time because Nedly too wore the pads You are as unaccountable & worthless as a hanging Chad
  9. What a spectacular game. This is what boggled me (aside from Moeller reaching for new levels of ineptitude and incompetence): After Sizemore tripled, Perez hit a deep fly ball to Jenkins in right. I know there is not a lot of foul territory out there - but from my angle - it appeared to be drifting foul. The ball was hit deep. Jenkins had a negative 5.8% chance of throwing out the tagging runner. He caught it. The run scored easily. Question 1: Can anybody with a good angle or TV broadcast replay confirm/deny the ball was going to land fair? Question 2: If Geoff is tracking the fly and his bottom peripheral vision tells him he's in foul territory, does he let the ball drop? I do. I'm not willing to trade an out for a run... that's a recipe for being down by 27 every game. It is all about context of course (say we're 'away'), but if it's tied in the bottom of the 9th, do you make that same play and hope for the lasar beam of all lasar beam throws?
  10. 98 RBIs on the bench is nice to see... even if I wish Geoff was a professional hand-ball player in the former Yugoslavia.
  11. I've got some belly button lint that is in the shape of the virgin Mary Hail Mary, full of Mark The time is now To jettison Geoff from the stern Full Speed Ahead!
  12. The question really becomes: What does Hart have to do today to get the start tomorrow? I am thinking nothing less than 3-4, 2B, HR, 3R, 4 RBI, BB, 2 SB, 1 diving catch & 1 outfield assist will make Ned think that the kid can play. And that is unreasonable. I had to drive to Detroit and back this week, and sports radio there thinks (it must be true) - to be a WS contender - they need a left-handed outfield bat and a quality set-up man. They were talking primarily about Abreu & Burnitz but... I know this belongs in the trades forum, but Jenkins & Wise for Verlander (mentioned as bait on the show) & a nugget seems to be fair to me. Let the ridicule begin, I know. But re-build the pitching staff. Capuano Verlander Jackson Davis Bush (Sheets) ((he makes a nice #6 doesn't he?))
  13. No, I meant he had a good game, period. 7 innings and 5 ER counts as a quality start when you factor in the "Adjusted Ballpark Offensive Proficiency / Defensive Deficiency Value" of your home/away match-ups. ABOPDDVs can be found at: www.31-34rather than30-35.com I can't believe you didn't consider that.
  14. It's all about getting the "W". Good gracious we're going to start splitting hairs, huh? Jackson hits by inning: 0, 1, 1, 1, 3, 1, 2 No. Walks. What we fear (and rightly so) in the Midwestern Coors Field is the omnipresent threat of the 3-run demoralizing Dunn bomb, or any of their other Rob Deer types swinging for a 5-bagger... So, aside from the 5th, ZJ did what he had to do - give us a chance to win. No, he didn't have a great game. He most certainly had a good game. I'll gladly give up 4 HRs to the Reds if it only means 5 runs.
  15. very coherent adam, nice forget about the runner DT
  16. does my best buddy Geoffrey have any minor league options left?
  17. They're putting in an ex-Detroit Red Wings defenseman?
  18. oh delicious irony. hold em Kolb and Jenkins will get a chance to tie/win the game... oh how i want to see his 5th at-bat with ducks on the proverbial pond.
  19. does anybody really think that Cruz would have less than a .250 AVG 7 HR 37 RBI line after 63 games in Milwaukee? A nice probing question from Daron on that subject would be an appreciated hardball.
  20. Mark A - how to best spend your money: Jenkins - $1,119,047 per HR Moeller - $140,000 per HR Hall - $27,866 per HR (2006 salary / 2006 HR) how about an 8 year deal for 45 million?... lock. hall. up.
  21. solo job or K here? and the ump is already pissed at geoff, so i bet it's another called third strike and all hell breaks loose.
  22. Crow here! Get your hot juicy crow here!
  23. only jenkins falls for that 0-2 high cheese that chad just got a piece of then again, chad has a baseball bat, geoff a 9-iron
