  1. Yet, it's almost like I'm not surprised. You could feel Geoff breath a sigh of relief when JJ didn't draw the walk, meaning he wouldn't have to strike out with 3 ducks out there. One shot in a game to really get to an ace pitcher, right? That was a Montreal Expo / Pittsburgh Pirate style laughingstock inning.
  2. Ben has to learn that he can give up 5 singles and win... just scatter them over 7 innings, not 1.
  3. That ball did bounce. Good night cruel world... have a nice treat for me when I wake up. 1st and 2nd, no outs...
  4. This will probably make its way onto the main message boards tomorrow... but is it fair to say that 2B is too technical of a position for Rickie? Fast paced, lots of stimuli, organized chaos, decision making hierarchy, sets of signs... etc. For a Gantner, Sandberg or Loretta type - students of the game. 3 - 2 Padres... oh wait, we're at Petco It seems natural ability or intuition is better suited to CF. See ball, catch ball, lasar beam throw, climb the ladder... all instinctual.
  5. Cue token look of frustration from Robin
  6. anyone willing to summarize what happened... Sveum loves getting his outs like a hold-em player? Koskie loves collisions like the Maaco man? Brady being ________?
  7. ?We really didn't beat ourselves,? said the Padres' Brian Giles. ?We just got beat.? Darn tootin' Mr. G, here's to another can of WhoopA opened all over your little pet store sandlot. ?We just got beat.?
  8. I may not be a MLB quality pitching scout, but Davis is throwing pancakes today... fat and delicious, syruppy too... the Padres pitcher was yanking ball... lucky out.
  9. Cirillo at first? yeeesh I hope not. That's almost as bad as the Cubs having to stuff Todd Walker there... hah ahahahah Call. Up. Hart.
  10. This would be a good day for the cycle Chadwick Von Moeller
  11. If Jenkins didn't go to the plate with his 9 iron I might feel more comfortable. Is he hitting off of a tee in BP? (anybody know?) I think he would be the type of T-Ball player that struck out all the time (weird) because he would hack away at the bottom of the plastic tube. The hole in his swing is dinosauric... His 3 game hot streaks simply do not out-weigh his awful awful mechanics which lead to the 5+ game slumps.
  12. The shame: 1) Yost / Maddux 2) Jenkins 3) Demaria The fame: 1) Billy 2) Prince 3) Capellan
  13. You keep a patheticly weak bench to carry more pitchers and you come up with Demaria to face the top of the order? I think - in context - it is such an obviously poor choice. I'd send Diarheia if it was the Dodgers 7 8 9, but honest to goodness...
  14. It very rarely happens that a manager makes a move that outright wins or loses a game... Yost... you refuse to tinker with the line-up and put Fielder third, despite the fact that after 31 games there have been 25 unique line-ups. ... you are so stubborn to not use Turnbow, what are you doing? saving him for the san diego series? you see Furcal, Lofton & Mr. RBI coming up and you don't want to make a proactive preemptive move? F
  15. Blow the game with a bone-headed (non) pitching move once, shame on you... Blow the game with the same bone-headed (non) pitching move twice, shame shame shame F!
  16. You learn your lesson Ned? Bring in Turnbow! Furcal, Lofton, Nomah...
  17. Jenkins is disgusting, despicable, detritus, despisable... There is a hole in his swing the size of the grand canyon. He is Rob Deer reincarnate.
  18. is our bench really just Cirillo and Moeller right now? where is Hart again?
  19. fine. not a good day for the "pitcher-catcher defensive system" better?
  20. alligator blood in cappy... not a good day for miller: PB, WP, 3 SB
  21. 10 outs for Jenkins in 8 at-bats this series. Can we please have the .345 and more "fundamental" hitter in the 3-hole? Let's move the Neo-Rob Deer to the 5 or 6 spot.
  22. ump made the correct call. tailor made, thank you geoffrey
