  1. I'm confused by this post... Broxton is an outfielder, Henry is a catcher. I believe this post was referring to Troy Stokes. The thread ended up having discussions of both Payton and Stokes
  2. Thank you for the replies. I probably should have looked that up first.
  3. I realize this is unlikely to have an impact but it cost nothing so I am not sure why it is not done. When the Brewers go on the road to Colorado. Let us take game 3 for instance. If the Brewers decide to go with another bullpen day. What would be the harm in announcing Chacin as the starter? Then after we bat in the first replace him with whatever bullpen arm(Peralta) you were planning on anyway. Nothing changed for the Brewers at all. Possible benefits what if we get to that 9th spot in the order in the first we could pinch hit for Chacin and not lose the pitcher we were planning on having. Also, a slight player benefit. If Chacin is announced as the starter and then Peralta replaces him in the first inning after the Brewers bat and then Peralta pitches 4 shutout innings and we have the lead he could be given the win as the most deserving relief pitcher because the starter(Chacin) didn't go the required 5 innings.
  4. Yes. Braun can just stay in and finish this one at 3B. Braun can play 1st with Shaw at 3B No I was actually thinking pinch hit Braun. Then for the 9th schoop in at 2nd perez to 1st and shaw to 3rd.
  5. Thought I would give it a try. 1 Keston Hiura 2 Corbin Burnes 3 Corey Ray 4 Brice Turang 5 Tristen Lutz 6 Lucas Erceg 7 Jacob Nottingham 8 Zack Brown 9 Payton Henry 10 Jake Gatewood 11 Joe Gray 12 Caden Lemons 13 Aaron Ashby 14 Trey Supak 15 Mauricio Dubon 16 Marcos Diplan 17 Cody Ponce 18 Adrian Houser 19 Mario Feliciano 20 Carlos Rodriguez 21 Troy Stokes Jr 22 Je’Von Ward 23 Chad Mcclanahan 24 Quintin Torres-Costa 25 Pablo Abreu 26 Cam Roegner 27 Leugim Castillo 28 Trent Grisham
  6. I worded my question poorly. It is not really news. I should not have said report, but instead, the speculation that the Mets would be interested in David Stearns.
  7. With reports that the Mets might be interested in Stearns https://www.brewcrewball.com/2018/7/12/17565214/report-milwaukee-brewers-david-stearns-is-a-candidate-for-the-new-york-mets-gm-opening I know it is a strange question but would you trade Stearns for Syndergaard?
  8. Report: ‘Optimism’ that Brewers will sign first rounder Brice Turang
  9. Interesting new uniforms article and picture on new uniforms
  10. Another article about Cabell. BlazingGunz posted it in the draft 1-5 discussion because of Turang, but I thought it was worth adding here. Feeling good about the chances of Elijah Cabell becoming a Brewer. It is going to be interesting to see how all these signings work out, with the Brewers having such a small draft pool. Here's to the Brewers working some magic. LSU article about players moving on
  11. This article suggests Clayton Andrews 17th round pick leaning towards signing with the Brewers. Local trio selected on final day of MLB Draft; Joe Gillete, Clayton Andrews will turn pro, Chris Rivera unsure
  12. While I was reading about LSU coach talking about Brice Turang still having a possibility of going to LSU. The article goes on to talk about Elijah Cabell the Brewers 14th round pick getting out of his commitment to LSU. It doesn't guarantee anything, but I think its a good sign for a possible Brewers signing. http://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/lsu/article_c4ca0132-6aac-11e8-bc55-a3fb7753dc7a.html
  13. This is from 2015 but I think it is what you want. http://www.banishedtothepen.com/being-drafted-and-making-the-show-the-same-year/
  14. Keston called up to double A https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/brewers-keston-hiura-promoted-to-double-a/
  15. Corey Ray 2 for 2 With a double and his 3rd triple. He has been a lot of fun to follow this early part of the season.
  16. Cubs would get a pick after competitive balance B somewhere in the high 70's Scott - How do you figure that? I recall there being a sliding cost scale if a team signed a player that declined a QO but I was under the impression that all teams that lost a player (who declined a QO) got a pick after Round 1 and before the Comp A picks began. That is where Cleveland & KC are picking for losing Carlos Santana, LoCain & Hosmer. http://m.mlb.com/draft/2018/order There were a number of changes to the draft setup this year so I could have easily missed something.. Cleveland, KC, and Tampa Bay are competitive balance receiving teams so their loss of a qualified free agent resulted in a pick between the first and second round. Cubs are not in that situation so they will receive a pick after competitive balance B. Check out your link that you posted and see what the Cubs got for losing Wade Davis, pick 76. They will get another pick right around there.

  18. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/twins-acquire-jake-odorizzi.html
  19. I don’t believe Vogt contract is guaranteed. Tom Haudricourt article says it’s not https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.jsonline.com/amp/910839001 But spotrak site said it was quaranteed http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/stephen-vogt-9421/ I am going with Haudricourt on this
  20. Do I have it confused with a bonus pick? It's all pretty complicated. It could be a bonus pick before round 2 for the Cubs if he gets $50m or more. Still a big deal for the Brewers' interests. And the QO for Arrieta next year would fetch a pick. Could just wait until after the comp pick deadline date before signing anyone, too. Kendrys Morales did that a few years back. I'm sure a few players will be doing that this year. It is a confusing system, but my understanding is that we will lose a pick if we sign a free agent that receives a qualifying offer. That pick is based on our status of a club that receives revenue sharing and we are a club not over the luxury tax, thus our third highest pick(however the pick we received for competitive balance is not eligible to be taken) so then it moves to our third round pick. This is what we lost for signing Cain. The same process would happen with Arrieta then our third highest pick would then slide to our 4th round pick. The 50 million dollar threshold for signing a player only affects the team losing the player and only in certain circumstances, with cubs status as a none receiving of revenue sharing club and they were under the luxury tax, they will receive a pick after competitive balance round B picks regardless of the contract Arrieta signs. I don't know anything about the comp pick deadline and how that affects everything
  21. I don't understand how this avoids us losing a pick. I don't think the 50 million threshold means anything to us. If we sign a player that turned down a qualifying offer we lose a draft pick. In this case it would be a 4th round pick.
  22. I feel like the brewers could be a little creative with their offer. What would a 6/150 offer with break down of 30, 30, 25, 25, 20,20 With player opt after 2 years and team opt out after 4 years. Basically on the hook for 4/110 if it goes poorly in the first 2 years rough but not a death sentence. Yu would have the ability if he is dominate over the next 2 years to opt out if he can get more, but than we probably have a Ace for a nice 2 year run. If he struggles a little in first 2 years and doesn’t opt out. Brewers can decide at the end of year 4 if he is worth another 40 million.
  23. Correct, Darvish could not receive a QO because he was dealt mid-season so signing him (highly doubtful, not happening per HH19 last week). But signing Cain (since he did reject the QO from KS) is costing the Brewers more than its 3rd round pick What do you mean Cain is costing the Brewers more than its 3rd round pick? Per the CBA the brewers are subject to losing their 3rd highest draft pick which would be comp balance B pick however, that pick is not subject to forfeiture so it falls to the third round pick. http://www.mlbplayers.com/pdf9/5450407.pdf https://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3551
