I mean, you’re likely right, but as I said before…any Brewers team will be the short end of the stick going into October. Their odds were likely no better or worse than any other year they have made the postseason. If I was picking, last years team was the best one for a World Series run on paper and it had no better success than any other year.

Make sure to go back and tell that to the the 2006 Cardinals. Maybe the 2011 Cardinals too. I’d notify the Phillies/Padres/Indians that they might as well just stop playing. They had similar results this year and are WAY worse than the other remaining teams. Their seasons need to end. When the roster is set after Spring Training can you use your crystal ball to tell me if they have any chance or not? I don’t really want to waste my time following 162 games for nothing.

I think the biggest problem was the replacements. He tried to take some ugly looking pieces and hope past results or their analytics would prove out to be better in August/September. They simply didn’t…they were about as bad as realistically possible. I mean one of the guys was injured when we traded for him and ended up never throwing a pitch for us. Kind of a fail by the medical staff on that too. Did the team respond poorly from a mental standpoint, yah, but is it that shocking? Trading him was bad, but Stearns didn’t make any trade for a notable impact player the entire deadline in response. From a fan and player standpoint we acted like a team that was under .500 but still close enough we didn’t want to totally blow it up. We arguably got worse at the deadline with a division lead? I could go through the last 10 years and I’d be hard pressed to find a team that was in a playoff spot that intentionally made themselves worse. Whether it was right or wrong at the time or in retrospect, it just was a really garbage feeling.

With Woodruff/Burnes and Hader/Williams they most certainly could have gone far. Brewers could have marched to a NLCS with garbage batting performances. Would they get through a 7 game series with poor batting? Probably not, but they can get hot at any time for no good reason. They had World Series quality pitching. Those aces and really good back end bullpen guys can win games against anyone. Was it likely? No, but it never is or will be for the Brewers…so if you want to look at it that way they should blow up the entire team this off-season. Next years team will most certainly be no brighter on paper barring one crazy off-season. The trade ended up terrible. Even the guy who made the trade can accept that.

I mean, there really isn't much to argue about. Even Stearns admitted he kind of blew it. Reality is, it was a mistake...and ruined the season. Anyone would go back and trade those prospects for a postseason appearance. I don't think judging it in retrospect is totally unreasonable because at the time this really wasn't a shocking potential outcome. It isn't like the Marlins trading Yelich and you would've never seen it coming. I thought Stearns would do enough to offset the loss during the regular season and didn't expect the team to get that down about it. However, if I was picking a second most likely option...this was definitely it and it was about 50/50 how it would go. Stearns was hoping to tread water while adding some prospects. Instead, he rammed the titanic straight into an iceberg to sink the entire season. Is what it is. All we can do now is hope the prospects become useful members of a winning team down the road.

Stearns dragged himself in the mud pretty good at the end of year press conference. Pretty much to the point admitting he kind of regretted the trade. He expected more out of the replacements in the pen and didn't expect the team to respond so poorly after the trade. It cratered the season. In retrospect I think Stearns wishes he had just held onto Hader till the end of the year. Wouldn't have cratered the morale and the bullpen would have been better off...likely in the playoffs. He then could have traded Hader in the offseason where he would have had an easier time replacing him and the team would have gotten over it by the start of the season. The lesser return probably would have been worth actually making the postseason this year and not ticked the fanbase off so much. Trading Hader ticked people off as is, then missing the playoffs as the bullpen constantly blew games, just a disaster. They were practically begging people to come to the ballpark by the time the end of the season rolled around.

First you have to make alternative energy to be the cheaper option and convenient. Let's be honest, no one cares about helping the environment if it isn't saving them money...especially on expensive purchases. Spending money (extra than you would otherwise) to help the planet is a niche market. That or to have a status symbol, like a Tesla. I own a plug-in hybrid because it gives me 45mpg to work and 999mpg for most everything else. Whether or not it helps the environment is kind of just a bonus if it does that. I don't think EV/Hybrids/PHEVs are that expensive, but they are to someone who is considered true middle class or lower. Most of these vehicles are priced up around what a limited trim is. Most manufacturers aren't releasing true base models with hybrid+ capabilities. Of course, now that they fudged the tax credits that really just makes them pretty crappy priced across the board.

So where is the risk? The buyer is gone, so what? Buyers come and go. You could scare them off for life and it won't matter. If you don't care if you move or not...it really doesn't mean much. You just stay home, problem solved. The only issue I could see is if you sit your house on the market for 6 months not caring if you move and then all of a sudden you have to move for some unexpected reason. Then your house recently failed to sell for half a year in a hot market and it is going to make people assume there are a bunch of issues with it. Though, even then, I can't imagine it being a huge hurdle once your realtor explains it to prospective buyers agents. Real risk is buying a house while still owning one and the purchase isn't contingent on your current house selling. That is a true mess and I have seen it play out a few times around me the last few years. People think their house will easily sell for what they expect and something quirky about the house makes it difficult. The entire concept is kind of dumb though. The odds someone "makes you move" is just not likely at all and not worth the hassle. Not sure where such a thing would happen...but probably not Wisconsin.

I mean…no. If you have zero interest in moving why would you? You could offer me 20% over the value of my house and I wouldn’t sell it to you. Maybe for 50% over I might. I think ‘make me move’ is kind of dumb…not sure it really works nor is it anywhere near common. Not sure what it has to do with your comment though. You said it was risky in this market unless you had a place lined up already. I just don’t really think that is the case.

I’d argue they could be more likely to trade their All Star catcher or their top prospect…if they were to trade anyone. Especially since Kirk isn’t even arby eligible. Really aren’t helping a top catching prospect forcing him to be a back up…and he has no clear path to starting as is even in that situation. Either be happy you have a star catcher pre arby already or trade him for a cargo ship return and take your chances in the young guy. Really…they should just go with Kirk and trade away the prospect. Imo He may be worth more than Narvaez, but at face value it isn’t that huge of a difference…and a far cry from commanding a Top 5 or so prospect. -

I really doubt that. Omar Narvaez took our #24 prospect and a comp pick. Narvaez was just as good (in actual start PAs) and honestly a better track record. Jansen has an eye popping statline...but that was in only 200 ABs. That simply won't commany a top prospect. Irrelevant though. Great target if he was on a crummy team. However, he went to the postseason. Why on earth would the Jays trade him? I get he is the #2 guy...but I just don't see much motivation. -
Ha....yah, this list could be pretty epic next year. Or even more depressing because there are actually expectations and if they flop it will be real sad to look at. The 'shrug of the shoulders' effort down the stretch was pretty sad to watch. Live or die with real contributors blowing chunks is one thing...but Alexander. I mean, that seemed like prime opportunity to throw crap at the wall and figuring the alternative can't be any worse.

I wouldn't call it risky. You can get all the offers in the world and not have to accept them. If someone sends in a crazy good offer, you can then just go try to find a house at that point. Pretty much no realtor is going to contractually obligate you to accepting a list price+ offer. Though if you are going to go such a route it is best to let your realtor know so you don't tick them off and make them feel like they are wasting their time.

I am guessing part of the logic is placing these where gaps are going to exist. Large population areas are going to have the demand to build them on their own. I skimmed through it and it looked like Wausau was skipped too. Of course they already have 8 Tesla chargers and I think they are set to get another 8 non Tesla fast chargers at WalMart.

I remember hearing about it when I lived towards Chicago...but most people I knew made fun of it. To be fair, I don't think they ever actually had it. I think their pizza ego was just as deep as a Lou Malnati's sausage deep dish.

Alright, I thought Little Ceasers was the worst pizza I have ever had (at least when you don't order it fresh)...but the Pizza Hut Detroit Style? Wow, absolutely disgusting. First off the cheese didn't go to the edge and crisp, which is probably the best part of a Detroit style (I wouldn't actually know I have never had a real one). The worst part, the sauce. The premium red sauce is the worst sauce I have ever had on a pizza. Pizza Hut tried 8 different sauces before coming the the conclusion that nasty stuff was the best choice. It was as bad as the city it is named after. Real Detroit style cannot possibly be that bad.

Does anyone have an example of how we are going to better spend $8mil? Like a specific example that would be a one year or maybe two year deal? Not to mention Wong is really just a solid all around hitter, not just mashing homers with a 30% K rate. I am not doubting it, but people act like finding an upper .700 OPS with no long term commitment is easy peasy for $8mil or so. Wong would be a big offensive loss and it wouldn't be cheap replacing that offense. The lazy answer is. "Oh, well we can spend it on bullpen help.", so outside of that...how would one hypothetically spend that money? A lot of people mention getting a 3B, so who will even be available?
