  1. I meant wouldn’t* Im guessing $60mil is his full season evaluation? By the time he gets traded half the season is over. I don’t see the point validating him in April terms He isn’t getting traded today. If they could have gotten $60mil+ value for him I think he’d be gone already. I don’t think a team is interested in paying that for a year or less of him. It is like if they tried to trade him three years ago. No one is going to pay $180mil in prospect capital for him. At some point there is a ceiling a team is going to pay for a rental player, regardless of how good they are.
  2. Yah, clearly was pulled for more than being tired.
  3. I’m only annoyed when there is an issue and the NFL makes up some dumb explanation. I just chalk it up as there is simply an extra second on the play clock. Most teams benefit from it here and there. I would not mind a hard 0 is 0 fix like the MLB is doing, but I also don’t enjoy 5 yard petty flags…so I’m okay not trying to increase the number of those.
  4. The Angels aren't getting Chourio or anything near him for Ohtani. Valuation might say so, but teams only give up so much for rentals these days...even if Ohtani is one of the best baseball players in history. I also don't see how he has $60mil in excess value. Especially since he isn't getting traded till July or so. I would be shocked if they get a Frelick type guy to headline it though. You are probably right that the Dodgers are the best bet. They have a ton of Top 100 prospect capital and certainly the ability to make up for it spending money in the future. Us getting him is a total pipe dream though. We aren't going to trade Hader 1.5 years early and then turn around a year later and sell off half the upper tier of the farm for a few months of Ohtani. That seems pretty stupid.
  5. #1 Machado being a clown to the new rules to make some weird point is bad for the product too. #2 So the umpire has a bracelet that buzzes instantly at 8 seconds...but the NFL has referees looking at the scoreboard, then looking at the ball, then looking at the scoreboard again to figure out if there is a delay of game? How dumb.
  6. I ponder what having elite starters does to benefit a guy in the pitch framing world. On one hand the pitches are nastier and would lead you to believe they are harder to frame for calls...but on the other hand a feel like the nasty breaking makes it more believable that a ball is being caught out of the strike zone. Maybe why it feels like elite starters always seem to get calls. For instance, that first pitch isn't really framed all that well. However, Peralta's arm angle and the wicked break on that pitch you wouldn't expect the catcher to be catching that anywhere near over the plate. The third pitch is pretty textbook modern framing though. Pretty popular for catchers to swipe their glove through the zone while catching the ball these days. What he did on the first pitch used to be pretty effective, but not so as much anymore. Probably because umps assume you are trying to deceive them versus 'helping them'.
  7. My point is not to diminish the umpires impact on the game. It was easily one of the worst and most annoying games to watch in the regard...in a long time. The point is we lost either way. People are acting like we were swinging at pitches in the dirt because the zone was 2.5 inches wider. No amount of umpiring correctly would have saved our hitters from attempting to golf Gallen's curves off the bounce. The umpires clown performance was one game...I am more concerned about the blind flailing at pitches, especially by the rookies. No doubt teams are going to see on film our rookies were 5 feet from hitting those curves.
  8. There is really no need to be condescending man. I like to think you are better than that.
  9. So we still would have lost? So the real issue we should be concerned about is in fact not the umpiring? I keep trying to find where I am defending the ump...but I will keep looking for you.
  10. Pitch #4 was called pretty frequently all game…pitch #3 was outside of even his massive strike zone though. Some of the calls were incredibly untimely for us (overall call favor was AZ 10-9), the Brian Anderson K in the 2nd easily being the worst, but the D Backs managed to make a clutch hit to make it into something. Still gotta do something to get Marte from first to home, they hit a homer. Even if you assumed Brian Anderson was given the walk and Mitchell then still walked to load the bases…both Voit and Turang both made zero contact in the ABs to strikeout that inning. The hypothetical third guy to be up after loading the bases was Weimer…who also swung a wet noodle making zero contact in his first AB. Mitchell was absolutely gifted a walk to lead off the inning in the 5th. Instead of taking advantage, Voit decided to bail out the ump grounding into a double play. If we are going to depend on good umpiring to win games and not strike out 15 times…this team is in serious trouble.
  11. My mind said he reminded me of a former Phillies OFer: Shane Victorino. Which seems like a good comp, if his batting average comes down to earth against MLB pitching.
  12. So, I have come to a pretty in-depth conclusion after researching all of our losses this season: You do indeed need more than 0 runs to win a game.
  13. The amazing part is the fact he is basically golfing at them…yet still smashing them into the ground.
  14. Nor did I say the umpire was anywhere near good or that the D Backs didn’t get a ton of calls.
  15. Of course they were? Never denied that? It seems you don’t want to acknowledge the Brewers have played absolutely atrocious. I’m not sure perfect umpiring was worth 4+ runs.
  16. The strikezone being 4 inches wider cause guys to swing at pitches 2 feet farther out of the zone. Seems like a stretch. Especially since guys kept watching the same pitches get called for a strike without swinging the bat. No one seems to make a peep when the Brewers get a call while pitching or when a strike gets called a ball while batting. Were the calls more lopsided one way? Maybe, but let’s not act like the Brewers didn’t get a boatload of calls in their favor in this dumpster fire either. The D Backs didn’t look like they were trying to hit a piñata blindfolded.
  17. You are missing the point. Go ahead, blame the ump for swing at pitches in the dirt over and over. I’m sure the umpire lean over and tickled the batter to cause it.
  18. Haven’t watched the D Backs SS basically make three errors or one of their batters strikeout on a pitch clock violation. Their starter also didn’t cause a pitch clock violation to help walk a guy. This is arguably the worst umpiring performance I have watched in…maybe ever. But we have zero runs and have seen 90% more correct calls than bad calls. Yet we haven’t done anything with 100% of them.
  19. Complain about the ump all you want…but we are down 3-0 because we are playing absolutely terrible offensively and everyone looks like a bunch of quitters in the 6th/7th inning.
  20. Go take a shower Adames. Good god dude.
  21. There have been some poor calls…but that one…it wasn’t even framed well. Actually, it was framed terribly. How someone didn’t get ejected, is amazing.
  22. I heard a rumor he un-does a button on his jersey after every poor AB.
  23. Isn’t there a Twitter account for that? This guy is having quite a rough night.
