  1. Another thing people need to understand is it isn't the end of the world if the Cubs pull off the miracle comeback. It isn't the old days where season is over if you don't win the division. They could lose every game the rest of the way and still probably get in the postseason. The WC bye would be nice but you still have to win NLDS and NLCS to get to WS. It also wouldn't necessarily be a good thing to clinch in two weeks and then have two weeks of meaningless baseball and then a full weak off between the season and NLDS. I guess what I'm saying is I want them to win the division but don't want the race to be easy and over quickly this month.
  2. I think we have some very mentally weak fans who need the off day tomorrow more than the players do.
  3. You understand Ashby hasn't been healthy the whole year right? That's 51.1 innings in a little over three months!
  4. Don't like how bullpen has been managed today. They didn't need to use Ashby and Uribe.
  5. The 5 inning rule was another one that made sense years ago. If a starter went less than 5 innings but the team held the lead the rest of the way the starter was usually out due to injury, or maybe ejection, or maybe the score was 12-8. The reliever that came in would have likely finished the game and would have been more deserving of the win. You wouldn't have a 4 inning start followed by 5 relievers pitching one inning each.
  6. The W/L record made much more sense and meant much more when starters often pitched complete games. A bullpen pitcher getting the win usually happens by default, and sometimes it's a bad thing when it's a BS Win.
  7. Just never expected Turang to be a power hitting 2nd baseman. What an outstanding year he's had!
  8. The perfect expression to represent how we feel after today's win.
  9. From Wisconsin sports hero Paul Menard's one and only win! No better representative of the great number 27!
  10. Why would you make a pitching change to replace a righty with a righty with 2 outs nobody on while losing in the 8th?
  11. Its a good thing to keep the Cubs in it a bit longer. Coasting for a month and a half can make it tough to handle the intensity of being thrown into a do or die 5 game series in October. Its also good for it to happen while still playing well and really just getting unlucky.
  12. Looks like another fantastic bullpen trade deadline move.
