Wow if thats the reason Ashby didnt pitch that is truly awful management. -
Pitchers have never been paid more, never pitched less, and never gotten hurt more often than in today's game.

I mean yes it absolutely is how the human body works. If he was sitting at 25 ip so far and was often being used 4/5 days that would be much worse than the actual situation.

Megill hasn't been used that much this year. A team should be fine using their closer in 4 out of 5 days.

Yeah looks like from what I see online the ability to call a game early due to weather is still in place. Now on a less important note, does anyone know if the stats count from this inning or do they consider the game over after 5 innings?

If I'm seeing the radar correctly, it looks like it's going to rain for a while. Does anyone know the current rules for ending a game early, or suspending a game, or how that works in 2025?

Well if everyone gets healthy they're about to have more starters than they need. Chad Patrick could be someone who does this, maybe DL Hall. Could even get a call up of jacob misiorowski. Remember how Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff were used in 2018.

Either that or having a multi inning setup man or two. Like how they used Hudson and Koenig last year. The one inning reliever strategy was great for the 2011 Brewers who had four qualifiers, three guys over 200 innings, and a 5th starter who threw 161.2 innings. Four starters averaged over 6 innings per start. You can't use that bullpen strategy in 2025 when not a single starter will come close to 200 innings or 6 innings per start.

While I agree to an extent, there's at least 20 other fanbases that will also say their manager is the worst in the league at managing a pitching staff.

The problem with our current pitching staff is we do not have starters who go deep into games like 2011 or 2021 teams did. Yet the bullpen is managed as if we do. Its fine to have 1 inning relievers when starters pitch 6, 7, 8 innings regularly, not when they're often pulled in the 5th or 6th. This team isn't using anyone like 2024 Bryan Hudson, or 2018/2019 Hader, or 2018 Burnes, or 2023 Bryse Wilson, or 2022 Suter, or 2019 Guerra. I'm not talking about long relievers or garbage time pitchers, you always have those, I mean multi inning setup men, multi inning stoppers/closers. At the current rate this year, you'll have at least three main setup men over 80 games pitched by the end of the year, or they'll be on that pace until they get hurt. It is not sustainable. -

Yeah I think so too and I think they'll turn it around. People in yesterday's game thread calling out the fans for not booing more is stupid.

Not that there's any great options in the minors right now, but Chourio should be sent down. That K/BB ratio indicates a major problem. Its not the end of the world that a 21 year old who was rushed up to the big leagues too early isn't ready for big league pitching.

Some people here need a bit of a reality check. I get its been a real bad month but its not 2003 anymore. The Brewers have won the division 3 of the last 4 years and have had a winning record the last 7 full years in a row not counting the covid 60 game season. I think we can give them the benefit of the doubt that they will snap out of this.

Yelich has been playing on a contender every year since he got to Milwaukee. -
It's early, results haven't been great. Still never more confident in this team. 2011 team started 0-4 and 20-24 too.

I try to make judgments based on if I think its the right decision at the time and not on the actual result. Really this is only the second time all year I really disagreed with a pitching change, I think Murphy does a great job. Quintana and Peralta should get a long leash and be allowed to pitch out of jams in the 6th and 7th inning. Different story if its Patrick or Myers out there.

It's the apex of the regular season. Losing two games at the end of the season to AZ doesn't mean the whole season was bad. It just means baseball has a terrible postseason system.
