  1. I said at the beginning of the year that the happt jolly Sheets seems like a thing of the past. He seems so determined this year, and he almost seemed like he was on the verge of tears in that interview. I'm sure he's bent on trying to stick it up everybody's butt on the so called fan "support" he's received the past 2 years. I'm not sure there is a better player anywhere in baseball who is less appreciated by his home fans than Ben Sheets. Heck, he should have won the Cy Young in 2004 - but the team was so crappy he was under 500. He was very good in 2005 until the end of August (3.33 ERA), good after returning last year and the casual fan says nothing after nearly ten consecutive quality starts this year. I hope Ben continues his pace and wins 18-20 this year and next year as well. He deserves it - not half bad for "not a winner" and "not a true ace". Appreciate him while he's still here.
  2. anything by Sam Adams is pretty awful. Ouch. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Different strokes for different folks, I guess. The Boston is one of my favorite beers ever. And FWIW, I don't like the summer shandy.
  3. Time for another David Bush classic 3 hitter against the Twins BS lineup - he occasionally throws some of the best games you'll ever see. I hope he comes up big for us tonight like he is capable of. The Brewers ARE better than the 4th place Twins this year. Hopefully the team plays like it tonight, because last night sucked.
  4. It was truly a disgusting game tonight, as myself and my buddy left after the 7th inning due to all the cars parked on the road behind the home plate lots in MP. Huge crowds are great for the Brewers, and it was a huge crowd tonight. That being said, still being 5.5 up right now makes tonight's game a lot easier to take. I rarely leave a game early, but tonight's game was totally irritating from the first inning on. With my 20 game pack, I'll try again sunday. I hope we get this week's issues straightened out for two games and win tomorrow and Sunday.
  5. I always love when the Crew is not listed in the wild card standings. I agree we can get to Looper. Hopefully Bill Hall, assuming he doesn't get a FIFTH consecutive day off gets on track.
  6. I agree we should have won, but we really should have done it before Saito even came in. And I also agree Saito wasn't near as good tonight as he usually is, but I still think he still threw some really nasty pitches in the 9th. He threw a few really nasty ones to Hall IMO.
  7. You don't hit Hall cleanup to bunt IMO. It was just a crappy AB off of a really tough closer. My bigger problem with Hall in this one game was getting picked off right before Jenks double, but you've got to love the fight in the team. Saito is incredibly tough. Oh well. But darn that whole game was frustrating. One play out of about 8 goes the Crew's way and they win (and I suppose the Dodgers could say the same thing in regards to a blowout). But sup turned in a nice start and Villy will be fine.
  8. Since we are on a pitching and defense kick this year anyways, is there any shot could we acquire Linebrink for one of our OF's? I can't believe the Padres would do Linebrink for Aaron Rowand. But if they would, I'd certainly see what they thought about Jenkins or Mench. Linebrink would look awesome in our bullpen working the 8th inning.
  9. This is not an endorsment of Suppan but- If the Brewers ever have Braun at 3B, Weeks at 2B and Fielder at 1B this year, there will be putrid IF defense at that point. I don't disagree, but what's the point? We don't bother to assmeble a decent pitching staff because our defense sucks anyways?
  10. Yes this offense is dysfunctional, but what major league manager puts his worst hitter (outside of the pitcher) in the 5-hole? But he hits left-handed! Graffanino-R Fielder-L Hall-R Nix-L Mench-R I don't really disagree with you. I just don't think Mench, Bell and Miller when he's in there are really much better. Someone's gotta hit there. At least he isn't hitting Hart there and leading off Nix. That would be even uglier.
  11. Here's a second question. Why in the heck does Ned bat Nix 5th!!!!!!??????? My head is going to explode if we don't win tomorrow. Because Mench, Bell, and Miller stink. This offense sucks.
  12. And the Brewers make it 9 in a row. Anyone remember when the last time that happened was? I'm drawing a blank right now. I can't really fault Yost on bullpen management tonight either. As good as the pen has been in general since the trade, there isn't really anyone down there that can get anybody out during this losing steak anyways. Like the rest of the team, there are very few or no good options over the last 10 days. (especially when Cordero pitches like he's human)
  13. Maybe Hall can reach, and Vinny will get another chance to play hero...
  14. You're a cockeyed optimist. I've begun to fear 62-100. Ha. Well that was fun while it lasted. But last time I predicted a horrible record an hour ago, the Brewers managed to come back and tie the game. So what the heck. 62-100 here we come! We suck! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. That was cool by Jenkins. Hopefully Turnbow can wiggle his way out of this mess.
  16. Unbelievable. What an awful team right now. 72-90 here we come.
  17. Anybody see the replay of the Bell play in the 9th? I swear he was safe, I had a good view and he looked safe by a mile. I was watching on TV, after seeing multiple replays I thought he beat it by maybe a quarter or eighth of a step. I think he was safe, but I personally wouldn't say by a mile. It was close enough I didn't have a real problem with the out call, unlike the Timmons/Cirillo play last night. If we could hit our way out of a wet paper bag, it wouldn't have come to that anyways.
  18. I don't think I've seen a team collectively have more unprofessional at-bats over the course of a week than the Brewers this last week. I'd guess 50% of the pitches our offense has swung at in the last week are not even in the strike zone, and a lot of 'em aren't even close. That eighth inning was absoultely pathetic. I wish somebody would give the offense the memo you don't get out of hitting slumps by swinging more often, at crap pitches. Most of our hitters suck anyways, but I wish they'd at least try to hit strikes.
  19. Well, that was like watching a re-run of a bad movie. It was disappointing to have the leadoff guy reach base in 3-4 consecutive innings and do nothing with it. JJ looked real smooth in the field, and the double play on the squeeze attempt was cool too. The 2nd inning roof leak was sort of amusing, although in defense of the park it was a total deluge outside. Cardinals fans were snapping pictures of the water pouring into the park with their digital cameras and cell phones.
  20. The way our offense is going, there's no way we see a 3-hit shutout today, is there? Oh wait, Jeff Suppan is pitching....
  21. (Imagine a world where the St. Louis Cardinals might fail to win 100 games in a season! Nooooooo!) Instead I played a sad song on a tiny violin in my head for those poor fans. They are the real victims; I realize this now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif This is classic. I thought how bad it would be to have your top two playoff starters get murdered by the Brewers on back to back nights. The funny thing is, they still have 90+ wins and are the best team in baseball. Hopefully someday soon we're in that position. Damn it, I'm heading to Milwaukee tomorrow...and I'm primed and ready for an s-word. Our almighty football team which has won 1 championship in almost 40 years might go 0-3 tomorrow - but if the Crew goes a game above 500, I just might dance a jig around Miller Park. Go Crew and Pack - let's have an instant replay of Saturday - a great day in Wisconsin sports!!
  22. It gets frustrating when you root for a team that hasn't seen the sunny side of .500 since before you were old enough to drink. Well, that's bad enough, but it's even worse when the last time the Crew was above 500 was when you were 11 years old. But I think we're finally going in the right direction. Tonight was very irritating however.
  23. That would have been an awesome lineup around May 15th. And yes, I'd rather see Prince at 1B as well.
  24. Also at the game. Nothing of substance to add that hasn't already been said here, it was a terrible performance. Credit given to AJAY, but.... BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
  25. He must like that .236 OBP against RHP in the two hole. Small sample I know, but it's not like it's exactly trending upwards lately either. Whatever. Hopefully Chris hits a pair of home runs off the rocket, and we shell Clemens on the way to victory.
