  1. I too wonder if they are just going to roll with Villar/Sogard/Perez at 2B. Honestly if we keep Santana our offense is going to be pretty sweet and those three guys should be passable. It also allows you to see if Villar can bounce back. Which I think he can with the talent he has...may not do it, but certainly the type of guy to do it. I just don't see Lucroy though. Pina/Vogt aren't that bad(were a decent duo last year actually) and I just cannot see Lucroy coming here to split time. Might be a different story if there were 1B opportunities for him, but with our current outfield situation and the possibility that Braun plays some at first that's not an option for him either.
  2. I am taking my 9 year old son tomorrow and for a variety of factors this is my first time going since the event left Miller Park. Just wanted to see if anyone had any general suggestions. For example, best parking options, how early to arrive, etc. Any tips are appreciated.
  3. Lol, sure. Must be why they are looking at all those “TOR” guys presently. Dang you Ryan Braun! Darvish isn’t a Brewer because well, we are the Brewers and he doesn’t want to be there. It’s okay. We will survive. We don't know if that holds true anymore. Lorenzo Cain could have been our one and only FA splash. Define a splash. I still think we could add a FA piece or two. I wouldn't be surprised if we revisit Walker, maybe something else. In terms of big money, yes Cain may be it.
  4. Yes. That's the positive, not happy about Cain getting 17 Million when he is 36. Harder to move if it is needed.
  5. Per Hardicourt new OF Lorenzo Cain's contract: $13 million in '18, $14 million in '19, $15 million in '20, $16 million in '21, $17 million in '22. Then $1 million deferred each year for five years afterward.
  6. I have a feeling that we won't hear about any other possible moves until after the Cain presser at 2PM. Good thing the weekend is coming so I can just refresh Brewerfan.net and twitter. LOL
  7. I believe they get at least one more starter. Probably by trading Santana. At this point wouldn't be shocked if they signed a FA as well. The last 24 hours have really confused my expectations.
  8. My preference on this: 1B: Braun (81 games), Thames (81 games w/ 0 against LHP) LF: Yelich (100 games); Braun (52 games) CF: Cain (110 games); Yelich (52 games) RF: Phillips (120 games); Cain (42 games) Trade Santana for Salazar + or for Meija and sign a FA pitcher. This keeps Braun at ~130 games, Yelich & Cain at ~150 games, Phillips at ~120 games and Thames at ~80 games. Seems like a good split to me. I like that split. I am OK with Phillips at 100-120 and Thames between 80-100, but overall looks good. Assuming Braun stays healthy.
  9. So I had a thought. There was obviously some fire with the smoke regarding Cain. Is it possible the Brewers do have an interest in Mike Moustakas? Maybe you don't trade Shaw, but move him to first and trade Thames. You could use Thames with Santana and maybe other pieces for a pitcher? Not sure it is likely, but not sure what to think at this point.
  10. Saw someone on Facebook who said Brewers were close to trade for Archer. I am assuming that they misheard the report that said we were pushing for him.
  11. HighHeat may have been right about multiple steps/scenarios. Clearly still more to come. Can't have 6 starting outfielders on opening day. Hoping for a solid starter. Lets go Stearns!
  12. My first reaction is that I like it. I believe Yelich is going to be huge playing half his games at Miller Park. He is going to make our offense dangerous and I think more consistent. Losing Harrison and Diaz in addition to Brinson hurts, but again Yelich is a 5 win player. You have to give to get. We have no idea how they will ultimately turn out as ball players. They next move is going to be key. You have to imagine an outfielder is going. Or maybe Braun does move to first and Thames is gone. Interesting to see if we try to rebuild farm system depth or acquire a MLB level talent. 2nd and another Starter would be most logical acquisitions. Wouldn't be surprised if one was a trade and one via free agency.
  13. I am leaning that way as well, but can't believe we wont do anything. Going back to what HH said if there are multiple scenarios in place and this is A, this would hold everything else up as well. It's also possible that some of the other team involved in those other scenarios walk away and do something else. Maybe I just talked myself into the realization it really be nothing that happens and we go to spring training with what we have.
  14. I will admit that my curiosity is getting the best of me. I am wondering who the "friends" are that would be coming with Yelich, what our original offer was and how it was raised. Also curious if the plan would be to keep all of all of the pieces that we get from Miami or if any of those could get flipped. Really curious who HH thinks would "win" the trade based on his understanding of it. Of course that's with the normal caveats that we have no idea how prospects progress, potential injuries, etc. Really just hungry for some type of news, but don't want the front office to do something stupid just to make a splash. The pace of this off season league wide has been horrible.
  15. So two things here. 1) I like the idea of Yelich, but am uncomfortable about upping the offer. I trust Stearns, but at the same time hearing that make me a bit cautious. 2) This could drag out another week. My refresh button may not be able to take it.
  16. This is an important thing to remember. While it is great to want to keep our prospects, at some point room needs to be made for them on the roster or we need to use them as trade chips to try to improve our roster. I don't think that one trade ends a rebuild. Overall Stearns has done nothing to not have my trust. We have to see how this plays out.
