There is almost zero chance adames accepts a QO if he has another season like last year... even though it was considered a down year for Willy, he still played GG short and hit 24 HR. He would need a considerable drop off from there (or injury) for him to consider a QO. So long as he's a top 10 SS, a good presence in the clubhouse, and given the ridiculous amounts of money teams are shuttling around for SS, he will reject a QO and test the market.

I mean, we got his favorite catcher, so Snell is basically a lock... right?

Even if Yeli isn't made the everyday DH, I fully expect him and the rest of the outfield contingency to spend ample time there (barring a DH only acquisition), so those bats and defensive alignments should be in play regularly. Frelick will probably move to LF as the game wanes, as he is probably the superior defender (to Yelich) at this juncture

Agreed... i think i was more excited to see a different approach than Smoak, Voit, Vogelbach, Thames, Aguilar, Singleton, Tellez, or even Bauers for that matter. While there has been a modicum of success from the bevy of players mentioned, it's nice to get a 1B that other teams actually wanted.

Woof... no thanks... These trades shorten our window and don't improve us enough for the cost. Trading Burnes may slightly improve next seasons chances, but greatly diminishes this seasons. Would much rather roll with the team we have vs. trading burnes for marginal upgrades. I understand that the asking price on Cease is high, and that trade quite possibly get it done, but I would rather keep one year of Burnes and all those prospects over 2 years of Cease. Appreciate the chatter, but hard pass from where I'm sitting.

I believe Baltimore has stated that their top 5 prospects are untouchable, which would include Mayo (3B). That said, i don't think its necessary to trade burnes at this point. Would we get a bigger return than draft pick compensation? Certainly, but then you're creating a massive hole in the rotation. Look at it this way... we are set up to receive ample draft pick compensation with Burnes and Adames hitting free agency. If Hoskins opts out, we could QO him. Not to mention, there is also the Prospect Promition Incentive... not sure if Chourio qualifies for that now that he has a ML contract, but Tyler Black could. Finally, if this season is seen as the all-in year, the Brewers still could deal Devin Williams next offseason for a decent return. Not to mention all these guys could be gone by the trade deadline depending how this season plays out. Loooong story short, I don't think we need to trade from our Major League club to acquire the pieces required to go all in. Maybe Matt Chapman will settle for a two year deal too?

Seems like a lot of work... i'd rather just keep milner for 2 mil... none of those other guys have proven anything at ths major league level, so trading Hoby without an adequate replacement would open an unnecessary hole... Ashby is another guy that could be in that 6th man\swingman convo, at least while they build his arm back and limit his innings

While that move makes sense in the future, it diminishes his current value... he played pretty good LF last year, so I would be surprised if the Brewers moved him until he proves to be a liability in the OF

I understand the frustration around the lack of an "impactful" offseason thus far, but the reality is that the top dominos haven't fallen for the positions we are interested in. Until Rhys Hoskins and Matt Chapman (and possibly to some degree Cody Bellinger) sign, the rest of the pool doesn't yet quite know their worth. I think this stall is probably more on the players side than the teams, as it behooves the player to wait so they can seek the most compensation. It also keeps the possibility that some of these top players are still in the running for the Brewers... maybe we haven't signed Carlos Santana because we have an offer to Hoskins, etc. Long story short, frustrating, yes... but there are still plenty of names out there... if they haven't signed yet, it could be the Brewers are biding their time to get a loaded one year deal or a contract they're comfortable with.

Jack Flaherty is another potential name to consider... shouldn't be too expensive and would love to see if the Lab can regain his potential ace status... that said, LHSP should be a priority this offseason
