  1. I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS!!!!! Sorry to veer off topic, but the Zoolander reference is appreciated. I'd looooove to get both Cabrera and Tankersley. That'd be huge.
  2. My favorite VU album is the third, self-titled one. I agree 100%. Incredible album. I'm a big big fan of them. I dig me some glam rock as well. T Rex, Bowie, Eno (though I prefer his electronic stuff more), Roxy Music (agree on the creepy note, but I actually like it more for that reason), Mott, etc. Good tunes.
  3. TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain I gotta say, I love this album. I really liked their first EP that had Staring at the Sun on it...found them to be really quite unique. Their debut LP was a bit underwhelming, but still solid. This album feels like TVOTR coming into their own. "Province" is an amazing song that just seems to build and build. I can't get enough of it. I'd go with 4.5 out of 5 stars. Grandaddy - Just Like the Fambly Cat I was disappointed with Sumday. I was at a Polyphonic Spree concert in Minneapolis when I first heard a track off of it, I believe it was 'I'm On Standby', and was impressed. But then I heard the album in it's entirety and thought, what has happened to my beloved Grandaddy? Under the Western Freeway and Sophtware Slump were incredible, so I had high, high (way too high of) expectations for it. I think this, in part, led to my appreciation for Fambly Cat. Lowered standards unfortunately. That said, I'm a fan. I don't know if I can get enough of "Rear View Mirror," and I'm certain that "This Is How it Always Starts" will be a personal fave for a while. Very solid (final) effort from a pretty darn good band. If only Mr. Bowie would somehow give them the Mott the Hoople treatment, the world might just be a slightly better place http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif 4 out of 5 stars. Mew - And The Glass Handed Kites I'm way into this. Sometimes, Scandinavian rock just gets me. Sigur Ros, Bjork, et al. I love the mix of male and female vocals and the dude has a really cool voice. Unique sound. I love "Why Are You Looking Grave?" Cool transition between vocals from verse to chorus. His voice reminds me of a well produced Ian Brown (Stone Roses) at times, which I'm also a fan of (obviously). Anyway, very good album. I can't stop humming some of the songs at times. My girlfriend has the same affliction. 4 out of 5 stars. Sorry for the long-windedness(?).
  4. Hmm...I guess not so much. Now that I look it up, career 3.64 ERA against the Astros...last few years have been especially good. Sub-3.00 in 2004. I think I feel that way about him against all NL Central teams. Weird. Edit: Except for Cinci.
  5. Wow...am I wrong in thinking that Sheets gets worked by Houston on a pretty routine basis? Just seems like he really struggles against these guys. I have no evidence to back up that claim, just a feeling.
  6. The Squid and the Whale: I hated this movie. Hated it. I'm sure some people will say they liked it, but not me. Of course, if you want to peek in on a completely dysfuntional family, it's fantastic. I'll be one to disagree. I really enjoyed it. There was some pretty screwy stuff with the kids and all, but Jeff Daniels was amazing. Some of his lines were incredible. I couldn't get enough of his temper tantrums while playing ping pong and tennis. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang was entertaining as well. Val Kilmer was great. And Robert Downey Jr. is a talented guy. I enjoyed Match Point. The ending really caught me off guard, seemed almost like two movies, which I like. It reminded me of The Talented Mr. Ripley in some ways, while not being as good. Need to see: Three Burials, the Matador (no editing done, just accidentally hit edit instead of reply -TC)
  7. First off, Turnbow had Bonds struck out with a curveball at the thigh in the inside half but the ump could not bring himself to ring him up with the crowd standing and howling. Agreed. It was a really nice pitch on the inside corner. 9 time out of 10 that one is called strike three. Very annoying. Hall made a horrible play on Finley's bouncer. Got himself in poor postion then made an olay move like he was trying to make the highlight reel. Double agreed. Hall needs to make that play. The ball was right there, even one out changes the outcome of this game completely. Argh...that was frustrating.
  8. I didn't see the implosion. Was he actually throwing the breaking ball, or was it a steady diet of fastballs? Well he was looking good right away. Bonds should have been rung up, so that was ugly. The fastball was hitting 98 apparently, and his breaking stuff looked downright nasty against both Bonds and Vizquel. Then the wheels came off. Hall should've been charged with an error on Finley's "double." That was ugly. Tough play, but it needs to be made. Awful game.
  9. I think the wheels just came flying off of Capuano. Being in Cali, I can't see the game, but I imagine he's reallllly missing his spots tonight. Ouch.
  10. I'm pretty sure the Reds scored in a similar way earlier this season as well, with Brandon Phillips scoring from second on an infield hit.
  11. Wow he's not good right now. Who can we even count on to close a game down?
  12. Huge win. Wow. Color me impressed. As exciting as it is, what happens with Turnbow? Do they let him try to figure things out as the closer yet?
  13. Where hath our mighty home run hitting offense gone? If Gabe Disgusting doesn't hit 2 grand slams this game, I won't even look at the box score later. (Though I probably will anyway).
  14. Well, Fernandez is definately the answer. that didn't take long. But it's the knuckleball, man! How tubular is that?
  15. Man how big was that home run allowed by Capellan now. Dang. Let's go Gabe Repulsive.
  16. ♫♫ Keep Turnin' Up The Heat! ♫♫ Anyone on here know where to get an mp3 version of that song? It'd be a great song to loop over and over again at some tailgating parties.
  17. BA release regarding Wily Peralta... www.baseballamerica.com/t...ralta.html I'm excited to follow these young fireballers! Duly noted in another thread...
  18. Honestly...the Dodgers have employed the best use of pinch hitting this afternoon that I've ever seen. Wow. I feel like they can sub anyone and he'll drive in a run. That said...this is yet another cruel twist of fate for the faithful.
  19. Hmmm maybe a JJ walk as well?? Why not? Edit: Well hopefully the pen is wild as well...though a double would sure look good right about now...
  20. Let us pray for Russ. Heck I'll take the other second of the 3TO...base on balls!
  21. Did the feed disappear?? This thread has become eerily quiet over the past half hour or so...
  22. Well UfitzW did point out in his post of another post that it should be a free webcast. What are we missing?
  23. Has anyone heard if today's broadcast will be free on the Brewers site? I'd very much like to hear it if possible...
