  1. When you lose 1/3 of the starters on your team there is going to be doubt as to the credibility and competitiveness of the future of your beloved team. I get it we are a small market team but the fans have supported this team through attendance and apparel etc as if it was one of the Largest markets in baseball. I think it should be noted, yet again, that it is still extremely early in the offseason. I think a little patience is certainly in order. I think this is fair as Stearns should be given the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise, but the elite TOR starters aren't signing in Milwaukee and neither are the "elite bats." If that's the case they'll have to hunt and peck for value in those second and third tier of free agents --- which are players with warts and are no sure things --- or trade from their big league roster and weaken their best position group (Hader, bullpen) or lineup (Hiura, Cain etc.). Yes, lots of time, but for a team having Yelich's prime years in tow at an extremely valuable rate you'd like to see them at least be in the conversation.
  2. While true, I can't imagine listening on everyone is a good way to do business, at least publicly. Are free agents going to want to join a club knowing they will always be shopped? It's all guaranteed money, 99% of players could not care less where they play, its the money that matters. True. Also an important distinction: taking calls does not equal shopping, as I previously mentioned. Big difference, but it still remains interesting to me that Stearns would consider trading his younger core.

  4. Long time follower and I rarely post --- but I really think that the Brewers target Nicholas Castellanos now. While his glove isn't great he can adequately play each corner OF spot and maybe in a pinch play 3B or 1B. He also would provide them a nice middle of the order righty bat.
  5. @JonHeyman Sources: Brewers are the team that got the claim on Matt Harvey. They have 5 hours, 18 minutes to go before their deadline for this trade (deadline is 1:30 et) 7:12 AM - 24 Aug 2018
  6. If it’s any consolation, the Brewers just went through probably one of their toughest stretches of games 13-12. That includes home series’ versus: Dodgers, Nats, Rockies and Padres (who split 2-2 w/ Cubs) and road series’ versus: Giants, Dodgers, Braves and Cubs. More off days on the horizon, maybe a waiver move or two and the 13th easiest schedule down the stretch. No reason to sound the alarms quite yet.
  7. I have been campaigning for Villar to hit lead-off for quite some time, I just think like you said above, it would create way more balance throughout the line-up. Villar Yelich Cain Shaw Thames/Aguilar Braun Miller/Perez Pina/Kratz Pitcher would be so much more balanced and does a nice job of mixing LHB's with RHB's.
  8. In his latest piece in the Athletic, Rosenthal says Brewers could use a starter, reliever, second basemen or catcher --- the proceeded to mull the idea of a Whit Merrfield/Kelvin Herrera package from the Royals. That'd probably be a hefty to price pay, but the idea is there.
  9. Brutal, brutal, brutal loss. Picked a bad night for a blow-up from the otherwise steady Albers. The proverbial black hole at SS haunts yet again as Arcia just looks miserable at the dish. Spin zone: you don't have to beat the Cubs to win the division.
  10. Maybe Keston Hiura will be the midseason addition to the Crew, straight from AA Biloxi. Mid-July call-up doesn't seem too unrealistic at this point.
  11. I still look back to the Marlins as a trade partner for the Crew. With the obvious target being Realmuto the Marlins also might dangle Jose Urena who is coming off his best season, is 26 years of age, has increased his K rate, lowered his walk rate and his FIP is 3.88. Not sure what a package could look like to acquire both Realmuto and Urena but I'm sure it'd be somewhat extensive.
  12. Agreed. May it be time to move around the order some? I've never understood Villar hitting 7th. Bat him second and move Yelich into the three spot? Cain Villar Yelich Shaw Aguilar Had to come back with something with substance after my first ever post, long time reader, of course.
