Shorting is a losing strategy though since markets go up over time, unless you can reliably outsmart the market, something most people can’t do in their free time. You can make money in a down market by rebalancing into cheap stocks though. Totally agree long term shorting is not a good strategy, however the question was posed directly to day trading where a significant amount of money can be made on the short side.

I am a high school football and track and field coach. While I knew it was coming the official cancellation of the track season really burns. My heart aches for my seniors.

Then why does the hospital keep sighting the Stay at Home order when we call and try and demand to set up their appointments? They keep telling us they have been ordered to "keep open capacity" do to the governors Stay at Home order.

I think a major issue is that we all look at this through our own lens and geographic location. In my situation I own a small business that is getting closer and closer to bankruptcy every day that the Safe at Home Order is on. I am in rural Northern WI in a county that had 6 total cases of which 5 are recovered. I have a wife that had a tumor found in her body a week before the lock down and since had her biopsy canceled with no ability to reschedule at this point. I also have a bed ridden mother in law that was supposed to get knee surgery today and also had her surgery canceled. Neither one are doing well emotionally. To top this off we just found out last night that the hospitals in our areas are furloughing their staff because there is a lack of patients in the hospital! This is truly insane. The blanket Stay at Home Order was premature and harmful to more than half of Wisconsin's residents. This should have been handled on a county by county basis with a no travel order from those counties that have an issue and a staged re-opening of those counties that are not so largely effected.

You can make as much, if not more, when the stock market goes down once you understand shorting. I by no means have a full understanding of how everything works but I am separated my investing (non-work related) into 3 sections. Long stock investments (buying and holding certain stocks for dividend payment and long time growth), Short stocks (watching trends and researching for stocks that I feel are on a downtrend and shorting), and options (this one is completely new to me and I am just starting to dabble in it)

I believe more people are going to die during this extended stay at home due to loss of medical care and mental issues than would have died if Evers would have waited and possibly opened up May 1st instead of automatically pushing it out. My wife is waiting on a biopsy that was scheduled. The appointment was cancelled and she was told that they could not re-schedule at this time. My mother in law was supposed to have double knee replacements done next week, they were also cancelled and she was told no re-scheduling at this point. She is basically bed ridden. I run a small business and most of my sales are done at trade shows. I ordered product in January like I always do in preparation for the spring show season. I am now sitting on $50,000 worth of product that I cannot sell and yet I have to still continue to make payments on. I am just one person and was on board with the initial stay at home order, but as you can see it has effected me directly in many negative ways. I am strongly against the premature timing of this extension and feel it will cause far more harm than good.

Agree Turborickey. I coach high school football and track and field. My phone is blowing up every day from my athletes asking about what is going to happen with their season. The WIAA is taking a wait and see approach but I am getting to the point where they need to make a call for the sanity of everyone. We are still doing practices every day virtually, and actually the athletes are really engaged in it, but I can tell they really just want to have a decision made.

I know that I am probably in the minority but I really believe it is time to start opening things up and paring back the stay at home order in areas that are not seeing stress on the medical facilities. Covid-19 is virus, the only real way to fight a virus is with herd immunity. I would hate to be a leader of any state or country right now because these are hard decisions, but when the experts talk about flattening the curve it is literally trying to reduce the stress on our medical facilities, not eliminate the amount of people that will end up infected. By being in lockdown in areas that have little or no infections we are just delaying the inevitable. I understand the theory of being in lock down until a vaccine is available, but I would argue that waiting until a vaccine is available will lead to more hardship and deaths from other causes. Again, I am sure I am in the minority, and these are terrible decisions to make, but I believe the sooner we get back open in the areas not seeing major cases the better we will be in the long run.

We have been talking about this also as I have a few athletes with a good shot at the next level. At this point we are looking into some summer USATF meets and am also thankful that I had some of them running indoor track over the winter. They were at least able to get some recorded times and distances down for recruiting. I did here from Kate at the WIAA last night and she assured me that they are going to do everything they can to somehow get some of the spring season in. They are looking into as many options as they can. However, state and federal governments can shut it down if they wish at take it our of the Board of Controls hands. They are meeting on Thursday and it sounds like decisions will be made then.

Somewhat lost in all the Covid-19 sports cancellations are the high school athletes around the country. I am a High School Varsity Track and Field Coach and really feel for my athletes. Winter sports athletes had their seasons cut short and were looking to spring sports to be able to try and finish the year on a high note. I have several seniors on my team that were more than likely going to find themselves on the podium at the WIAA State Track and Field meet this year, and now, face the real possibility that their careers as athletes are over. I am struggling myself also as I put a lot of effort into the team and really feel at a loss when trying to comfort them, when I am feeling the same harsh fears as they are. These athletes do not collect a paycheck or sign autographs, but I can attest that they truly love their sports and my heart breaks for them.

I think the easiest way to do this is just to remove the space and rename it Miller Parkway. Retains a little history and solves the double name worry.

Anybody know off hand the tax implications of Toronto vs a US team? Could that have an effect on the contract negotiations and maybe explain why the numbers came in slightly lower than expected?

To my surprise Cephus has been reinstated. This should be a boost to the team both in talent and moral.
