  1. On baseball message boards you can't express opinions without citing lots of statistics. I knew people would be outraged. It doesn't bother me in the least though as I know the opinion is correct.
  2. Dubon with a 127 OPS+ right now at the MLB level. .302/.327/.547 slash line in 55 plate appearances.
  3. I actually don't like to be a Negative Nellie but this season has really soured my outlook. With regard to the MVP race, the national media is convinced that the award is going to Bellinger absent a huge swoon on his part. The Athletic has their assessment of the MVP race (below). I've also added Rotoworld's write up on Bellinger this evening (below).
  4. I'll take wagers from anyone who wants to bet that Yelich will win the MVP.
  5. This is the new "The Brewers have a negative run differential". -24 as of this writing.
  6. There's no way Yelich wins the MVP this year.
  7. This is quite possibly the worst analogy I’ve seen here. 50+ percent of NBA teams make the playoffs each year. If the brewers make the playoffs two consecutive years it would be absolutely huge for the franchise. From the occasional pretenders to legit contenders. Just a horrible take, and a horrible comparison. Ugh. Nope. This is an unusual year. Normally good teams make the wild card. Not this year. It will be a crap fest. The NBA #8 seed analogy is appropriate this year. I'll take bets from anyone who wants to put the Brewers in the NLCS.
  8. I'd rather the Brewers win than lose, and I'd rather the Brewers make the playoffs than not. But if this team makes a wild card entry it will be like an NBA team being the 8th seed in the playoffs. Yay! We made the playoffs! Whoa, we just got trucked by a 1 seed. There is no joy here because this is not a good team (which they were last year). -25 run differential as of this writing.
  9. -45 run differential. No playoffs for you!
  10. This thread will have the shelf life of gas station sushi.
  11. I have no interest in Gennett but I can assure you no one is paying him $1.5 million for the remainder of the season.
  12. This is not a bad team. But it's not a good one either. No playoffs for you!
  13. -42 now. My mistake. I thought mlb.com had already updated. Now I feel worse.
  14. -39 run differential. This is not a playoff team.
  15. Classic uniforms are back. And I can watch again without having my retinas burned out.
  16. I would say the 2011 Cubs were in a much better spot than the 2015 Brewers when Hoyer took over. They had a number of major league pieces to trade off just like the Brewers did and the minor league system already had Baez and Rizzo in it. Theo traded for Rizzo from the Padres in January of 2012. In addition to Baez the Cubs also had Wilsson Contreras in their system when Theo arrived.
  17. That'll show 'em! My intent was not to “show them.” My intent was to not subject myself to a visual clown show. Given how the uniforms were universally reviled, I would expect MLB got the point.
  18. I’m just glad the horrific players weekend is over with their clown show uniforms. I did not watch one game this weekend.
  19. Something tells me he does, but on a Dodgers board... Nope. Not a Dodgers fan. Born and raised in Wisconsin. I’ll love the ‘82 Brewers until the day I die But I also love Vin Scully and old school baseball. The first World Series I ever watched was Yankees - Dodgers 1977. That look. That’s baseball to me.
  20. Wow, for your sake I hope you are kidding. Not kidding at all. I will not watch a single game this weekend. Now I’m off to have a couple of glasses of Scotch and listen to an archived MLB game with Vin Scully on the call.* *also not kidding.
  21. These uniforms are hideous. I’m turning off the game. I will not participate in this clown show. Also pissed because I was going to watch the Dodgers - Yankees game tonight. Two of the most classic uniforms ever. Will now skip that too. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
  22. I have lived in a number of states as an adult. I can attest to the fact that every fan base criticizes their manager’s bullpen usage and line up construction. 100%.
  23. Run differential is one estimator, but runs scored/allowed are subject to the whims of chance, also known as sequencing (or, luck). By this calculation we have four more wins than we "should" have. An even more granular (some might even say precise) version of estimating wins & loses is BaseRuns, which takes the weighted run value of every single outcome that occurs & projects runs scored/allowed from there (in an attempt to eliminate the whims of chance somewhat). By this calculation we have played to our exact current record. Keep looking to cherry pick stats. At this point the Brewers are what they are. This team is average at best.
  24. This team has a -17 run differential. This is not a playoff team. The fat lady hasn’t sung yet—but she is warming up backstage.
