  1. When does the REAL season start? This can't possibly be it. 🙁
  2. Greetings from New Orleans. I would have been here sooner, but I had company. :-/
  3. Muck the Fets.
  4. We don't even have a baseball team. Alas!
  5. I can relate. I'm struggling to find some one to cheer for. It's not the Phils, but I am definitely against the Mets. Too bad my Saints are starting to stink. I may have to face real life before long. Bughghghghghgh....
  6. I am a New Orleans Saints fan. My pain is worse than yours!!! 😉
  7. The first team I ever really followed, as a kid, was the AAA Pacific Coast League Padres, who played at the Westgate Ball Park. Al Schuss and Al Coupee (sp?) were the radio announcers. (No TV back then.) But for now, it's basically anyone but the Mets (subject to change.)
  8. He must feel like he never left the Brewers. (Though our offense was pretty decent this year.)
  9. I wish I had posted this.
  10. Somewhere else I posted about a book called "The Cruelest Game." The book was about backgammon, where you can make the best move based on the odds of the dice, but it's the actual roll of the dice that can make or break you. The author made a point of comparing it to being a baseball manager: You can make all of the right moves, and still get crushed on any given pitch.
  11. This was a thoughtful post in its entirety. I have just a few comments, as perhaps my way of dealing with the sudden and crappy end to what was otherwise a good season: "the current playoff format does crack the window open just enough to give us hope each season" and then crush our hopes like a bug on the windshield. 😖 "In the regular world, when failures happen, we often can apply hindsight and logic to reflect and demonstrate the mistakes that were made." We all fail. Most of us just don't do it before a national audience. I'm sure Devin feels THE WORST about all of this, but nobody thinks he's a bad person or player, and he will rebound.
  12. Yeah! Even WE cannot be eliminated in the bye-week! (Just trying to divert my pain with lame humor.)
  13. Sure, a few more runs would have been great. But DW flat-out failed in his only job; that's undeniable. That said, I was more upset by the defensive lapses in Game 1. Defense had been a strength, but that's where we really choked as a team.
  14. Once we got going, I came to believe that this team was special enough to take that extra step. Wrong! My expectations are lower about next year (little chance of keeping Adames). But baseball season can be a big tease. So I wouldn't be shocked if we made the playoffs again.... and lost in the first round again.
  15. OK. It's not THAT bad. But I've never felt totally secure with Williams, and Peralta is no Burnes or Woodruff. It may have been the pain and the vodka talking.
  16. My $0.2: when Peralta is your "ace" and Devin is your best closer.... You need pitching. At least we have Chourio. What a rotten ----ing way to end a fun season.
  17. I guess I'll cheer for the Padres. They were the first team I ever loved... When they were AAA. I'll be back for the Crew, because being a New Orleans Saints fan I seem to crave suffering and heartbreak.
  18. I have never felt secure with Devin in the game.
  19. Chourio heaving that ball into the stands... Ultimate frustration in defeat.
  20. Now I guess he can punch a wall and break his hand.
  21. You can't blame Murphy for this one. It's been fun. Mostly. Good night. See y'all next spring.
