  1. This is exactly why the absolutely NEED to sign and/or trade for bats in the off season. THAT should be their organizational philosophy. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. And by signing bats in the off season, I'm not talking about 1 year reclamation projects that they love.
  2. Ha, I was just going to say something to this effect. I mean, you have to keep trotting Weimer and Turang out there game after game because of that "run prevention". Even if they're hitting sucks. Or at least that's what the organization would tell you. The ELITE defense though! It's like a basketball player, he may not be able to guard a chair defensively but he's an ELITE scorer offensively, and more than makes up for his lousy defense. Huh, go figure.
  3. You guys just don't seem to get it. Why is the run differential negative? Very simple answer...the offense, the offense, the offense. The answer was never to sell, it was always to load up on bats. That should have started in the off season. Now they will go weakly into the off season simply because they NEVER EVER EVER get good bats in the off season, and they don't get good enough one's at the deadline. I honestly don't know how all of you do it, and stick with this team/organization every year when it's the same thing year after year after year. You all are very patient and truly dedicated fans, I have to hand it to you.
  4. They are all connected though. if they would ever make "big moves" in the off season they wouldn't put themselves in the positions they do at the trade deadline. Then I wouldn't care. But they do it to themselves all the time. There's been a few good off season moves(I'm speaking strictly abut hitters with this), but there has been more bad then good. For instance, name the last good 1 year contract guy they signed in the off season that has worked out. That's what they do sign 1 year deal guys and "hope" for a 1 year resurrection from said player. So when it doesn't work, what do they do? Rinse and repeat, double down and do it again next year.
  5. So you're another guy that doesn't care how they do in the postseason and are happy with regular season success? SMH. How many NL Championship series have they made in that time span. heck, how many times have they gotten out of the 1st round?
  6. Sure, that's a legit argument. The only problem is, if not now, when?? You had a window with Burnes and Woody, and did nothing to try to capitalize on it. That's my problem. They are always just "patching" holes.
  7. It doesn't necessarily have to be quality but quantity. Canha and Santana aren't going to fix the still remaining holes in this LU. Why not get Candelario, Canha, Santana AND another legit bat? Then, it would at least appear to be significantly better and no matter how it ended up, I'd applaud them.
  8. It's not moving the goal posts at all. Sveum was essentially "boasting" that the Brewers have the 6th most wins in baseball since 2018. Like it's some crowning achievement. Apparently he is just fine with great regular seasons, and essentially no post season success. I mean seriously, name the last time he has ever been even somewhat critical of any moves the Brewers have made? I can't remember a time. if people get somewhat critical of a move, he pulls out his fancy analytics(WRC+ etc), to try to make people feel better about it. Or his favorite thing to do, play the "payroll" card. Not to single him out, because many others do that too. The next time he lambastes a Brewers move will be the 1st time. Just call a spade a spade, don't try to "prop up" every move as being some earth shattering needle moving move, or trying to justify how acquiring Santana and Canha make what was a steaming pile of dung previously, all of a sudden look like a bed of roses. Small moves like those sure, they make you slightly better IF things go really well from those acquisitions. But slightly better isn't saying much when you were so bad to begin with. They certainly don't strike fear into other NL clubs I can tell you that much. It's the old using hope as a strategy. Hope never has been and never will be a strategy. Period.
  9. Wow!!!! Holy hell, they deserve a parade for that! Everyone gets a trophy! 6th most wins in MLB since 2018. hang a freaking banner!
  10. They made likely SLIGHT upgrades, but that isn't saying much, given how bad they have been. So what? Canha and Santana! World Series here we come! There's still massive holes in the LU at SS, 2B, and CF(Weimer). Did you watch this last series against the Braves and see their LU??(Insert the tired old payroll excuse here)
  11. I just want to see them TRY, if it fails, so what? I would give them massive credit for finally pushing the chips to the middle of the table and giving it a shot. Not this "half assed" stuff they always do.
  12. Oh Cripes, you really don't get it do you? Do you ever even have it in you to not fawn over every single move the Brewers make and try to use your fancy "analytic" BS to justify everything they do? How about not being a schill for the organization once and call a spade a spade. They aren't above criticism. The Cubs are playing Chess because...wait for it, they are actually "going for it". They aren't in the playoffs now, but they are sure trying. They get one bat, and that bat by itself is a better acquisition then the two the Brewers have gotten.
  13. No, I couldn't have cared less about Cron/Grichuk. They don't move the needle either. Just like Santana, just like Canha. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.
  14. To be fair, I knew if there were more coming, they would be small time ones like this. I miss Doug Melvin.
  15. That's the thing, who says their will be another contending window? None of us know that, and even if there is, we don't know when it might be. There are no certainties. That's why when you have two stud arms like they have, you should maximize that window. Alas, they are the Brewers.
  16. LOL Typical Brewers move. Nothing like maximizing your chances in what will likely be Woody/Burnes last year. SMH, I should have known they were only going to do little "band aid" non needle moving moves so they can go "see! We did stuff at the deadline". Ummm not really. They still need a big time bat. I'd bet anything this is their last move. Gotta love the "hope" strategy, they utilize.
  17. Bingo! No more of this "half assing" it like they have been. I get no dealing Chuorio and maybe a couple others in the system, but they CANNOT be afraid to deal other prospects they may truly value to go all in at some point. When you're a team like the Brewers the "window" is only there for so long, and with likely being the last year of Burnes and Woody, if not now of "going for it", then when? It reminds me so much of the Packers with Arodg, they never truly "went for it" either. They "half assed it". What a waste of a Hall of career, 1 Super Bowl. The Brewers are going to do the same with Burnes and Woody now too. There philosophy is "keep getting to the playoffs and maybe things will break right one of these years". Hope is NOT a strategy.
  18. Yep, it's pathetic really. Watch them fall further back in the division over the next week and a half and it will pretty much be curtains. "Add responsibly", is just their "out" so they can say "we didn't think anything else made sense for us", when they don't do anything else. Same old Brewers. Nothing like "half assing" it at the deadline every year.
  19. I'd bet almost anything they won't get Eloy. Bet it's nothing more than they "checked in". I'd be happy to be very wrong however
  20. So Angels have been active, going out and getting TWO bats. My concern is Arnold is done because he'll think getting Anderson and Rowdy back will be enough for the offense. If that's his "strategy", then it's a terrible one. What you should do is still add at least two more bats and then getting Anderson and rowdy back is even better.
  21. This guy...gets it. It sounds catchy and all, and the corporate get the fans to buy into it, so it takes hold and then becomes a disease. The Braves see your "run prevention" and raise you a LU full of mashers and below average run prevention and it has gotten them the best record in baseball with the biggest run differential.
  22. I mean give me a LU that mashes like that all day every day and average to below average run prevention and I will take my chances every time. Plus, it's just so fun to watch
