  1. IF the Crew can win tonight and finish the sweep tomorrow, they'd be up 5.5 games(essentially 6) with 16 to play. THERE is YOUR dagger folks. Brewers just go 8-8 in those 16 that means the Cubs would have to go 14-2. 100% NOT happening. Period. Heck let's look at it further, even if the Brewers went 6-10 in those 16, the Cubs would still have to go 12-4. Again, NOT happening.
  2. Wait....Turang struck out, against a lefty no less?? I mean, what a complete shocker. So shocking in fact, no one saw it coming. He is going to end up costing them a playoff game(s) with his never ending devotion to Brice "no hit" Turang. You're in the middle of a pennant race, you play the bats...period. As I said, this is NOT hard, Monasterio is your everyday 2nd baseman, and Donaldson your every day 3rd baseman. No exceptions. I would rather Brian Anderson be in the lineup then Turang. In all my years of being a baseball fan, one of my biggest pet peeves has always been light hitting, slick fielding infielders. If you can't hit, you would never play for me.
  3. This is a total no brainer, but for some reason Craig won't do it. Turang must have pictures on him or something, for as much rope he gives him.
  4. Okay fine, I was wrong about them starting a lefty, but that's not really the point. As i said, he has no business being in the starting lineup against anyone. You all bag on weimer repeatedly and say he should be sent down(and you're not wrong), well so too should Turang.
  5. Reading comprehension is your friend. I said he shouldn't be in the starting lineup against ANYONE, let a lone a lefty, which...wait for it, the Marlins started.
  6. Counsell just doesn't get it, Turang has NO business being in the starting lineup, against anyone, let alone a lefty. Yet, here we are. This is so simple..Monasterio at 2nd every night, Donaldson at 3rd, against righties or lefties. Easy peasey, or it should be.
  7. My thought on this is, you bring up Donaldson and move Monasterio to 2B, replacing Turang.
  8. I mean, I could never figure out why he was the Pitcher they called up. He's garbage. I realize there wasn't a lot to choose from but my god, anyone but him.
  9. Andddd the Cubs have now erased a 3-0 deficit and lead 4-3. *sigh* I am REALLY freaking tired of them hanging around.
  10. Cubs-32-17 since the ASB They have lost only two freaking series in that time...2!! The real stretch that has kept them in this though is winning 10-11(8 in a row) after the first series back against the Red Sox which was one of two that they have lost. I mean the two biggest series that they won that I assumed they would likely get swept in, The Braves and @ Toronto. That shouldn't happen. The Brewers are 27-19 since the ASB and have lost 5 series.
  11. I'm so tired of this team playing such good baseball lately and not being rewarded for it. That's what's supposed to happen. Play good baseball and increase your lead. A week or so ago I was HOPING for a 6-7 game lead with 20 to go, essentially putting the nail in the Cubs coffin. Yet, here they are STILL with only a 3.5 game lead. That's annoying for how well they have been playing.
  12. Isn't that something? They made an organizational decision to go away from power hitters to crap hitters instead. That'll play.
  13. You really thought the best option there was to try to string together 3-4 more hits to tie the game? When does that ever happen with this team. Sure a 3 run jack wasn't likely but when placed against the odds of stringing together 3-4 more hits before making another out, I know what odds I'd take every time. One swing vs. a minimum of 3-4 more swings?
  14. See now this is stupid, Monasterio has NO power and you're down 3 runs, at the very least PH Anderson or almost anyone available has a better shot at tying it with one swing then he does
  15. Unless this organization changes their approach in the off season and FINALLY decides to sign legit hitters in the off season, this is how it's always going to be. So expect more of the same.
  16. Run prevention, run prevention run prevention. Learn it, live it, love it
  17. They have to be smarter about the moves they make in the off season. That's how they have ended up in these messes. ENOUGH of the 1 year "hoping for a bounce back" bats. It isn't working. It hasn't worked. Name the last 1 year contract bat they signed that worked out. If they don't change that philosophy, then this is what we are going to endure for many years to come.
  18. Playing devil's advocate however, how do we know that making say 3-4 needle moving trades wouldn't have been the difference in actually going somewhere in the postseason?
  19. I'm not like most people, I don't judge trades on what the return was. That's essentially irrelevant to me. I mean, the lessor the return(which is really a projection anyway), the lessor the player you get back typically. I look at trades from a production stand point in who they are getting, and making an estimation on how much that player(s), move the needle. A lot here are fine with the 3 trades they made simply because they didn't give up anything to get them. Never mind the players they got really and truly likely only make a small difference in this years team and their chances. That's fine if that's the way you want to look at things, by all means do so. I take a different perspective. I simply don't care what the "future" POTENTIALLY looks like. Not a single one of us can predict it. Hell I may not even be around to see much of the "future" anyway, who knows?
  20. Yes, I would take that in a heartbeat. I lived through all the Brewers crappiness, and the Packers crappiness too. It's no fun having crappy teams, I admit that, but if the payoff is a title or two, during that time, I will take it. Look at the Bucks, went all in, won a title, got bounced in the 1st round this year, doesn't phase me one bit(although admittedly, I am less of a Bucks fan then Brewers or Packers). The thing is, there is likely never going to be a title if at some point you don't "go for it". Remember the 82 Brewers? Holy hell was that year fun, the trades Harry Dalton pulled off...I'd love a deadline like that again in Brewer history. They didn't win a WS obviously, but damn was that year fun, and the players they acquired will never be forgotten. Don Sutton, Rollie Fingers, Ted Simmons, Pete Vuckovich. Damn! I do remember people fretting some about trading the "hot" brewers prospect David Greene. How'd he turn out?
  21. Remember when they failed to trade for several players that would have made a difference? OBJ being one of them. They could have signed Deandre Hopkins or OBJ this year, and the list goes on and on. Ironically, all 4 of those players they signed that you listed, are no longer on the team. Since then, what big splashes have they made in FA? Zero, zilch, nada. You had a HOF QB and literally wasted his tenure there because you wouldn't sign FA's. Pathetic.
  22. Brewers and Packers I do. There is one thing I absolutely loathe in sports and unfortunately it happens that it affects two of my teams, and that's Non aggressive GM's. I don't want excuses as to why you can't be/won't be. If you aspire to win championships(and I'd hope that's the goal of every sports team) sometimes you have to say F it and go for it. It may fail, but at least you didn't "half ass" it. When have the Packers ever been "aggressive" in Free agency? Not since Ron Wolf. They could have went for it several times and failed to do so with Arodg as QB. That's insulting to fans IMO. Sure maybe the Brewers would have to give up a few "prized" prospects, to truly "go for it", but so what? Who says those prospects will ever end up being anything other than average major leaguers? It's a gamble worth taking IMO. Even if it doesn't end up with a World series, at least you truly "went for it", and didn't "half ass" it like they typically have. I would applaud them every single time in that scenario, whether it works or not.
  23. I mean, sure it MIGHT work out okay, but how has their history been recently with bullpen arms at the deadline? Not great, not great at all. To me, they didn't necessarily need another BP arm, I wanted at least one more bat, if not two.
  24. They just couldn't help themselves, could they. Continuing the trend of getting a bullpen arm at the deadline, that inevitably fails miserably. Bush, Norris, Taylor, Curtiss etc.
