    That's a huge overpay for either Burnes or Woodruff. They each have two years of arbitration left and those years should total less than $30 million combined for both years for either one.

    What I suspect is going to happen is they'll figure out the best trade offers for both Burnes and Woodruff, trade one and sign the other to an extension in the 5 year/$100 M range.

    One only has to look at the Castillo trade to see the minimum the Brewers should expect back in a Burnes trade. A top 15 prospect, a top 50 prospect. a prospect in the team's top 10 and a low A flyer.

    The Luis Castillo trade to the Mariners is a good floor for the prospects that would be coming back, if Burnes is traded. Castillo was traded at the deadline with one year of arbitration remaining, and is two years older than Burnes. The Reds got two overall top 50 prospects (according to Baseball America; one was actually top 15 in many rankings), the Mariners #10 and a low-A flier.

    If you want to talk about the last three years, you have to bring Kershaw into the discussion. All I'm saying is the top of the Dodger rotation is as good as anybody, certainly as good as the Mets and the Phillies in addition to Milwaukee, and you completely dismiss them.

Gonsolin's FIP was 0.20 higher than Woodruff, but had a higher WAR and an incredible 0.875 WHIP in just 23 less innings than Woodruff. The only advantage Burnes and Woodruff have over those two is they strike more out.
