  1. OF Jose Anderson assigned to DSL Brewers 1 from DSL Brewers 2. RHP Johan Zapata assigned to DSL Brewers 1 from DSL Brewers 2. RHP Oliver Camilo assigned to DSL Brewers 1 from DSL Brewers 2. C Luis Corobo assigned to DSL Brewers 1 from DSL Brewers 2. C Kegnnalex Seijas assigned to DSL Brewers 2 from DSL Brewers 1. LHP Victor Garcia assigned to DSL Brewers 2 from DSL Brewers 1. RHP Linbel Jimenez assigned to DSL Brewers 2 from DSL Brewers 1. OF Jeremy George assigned to DSL Brewers 2 from DSL Brewers 1. Milwaukee assigned four very strong players from Team Dos and moved them to Team Uno for the late playoff push, as the four players going back the other way had underperformed and/or had very limited playing time. I had noticed other organizations doing the same on MiLB's transaction sheet in recent days. The MiLB Player Pages are linked so you can specifically see what the first four players listed above have done thus far in 2024. Go Team Prime! (and you also, Team #2)

  3. Final: DSL Red Sox Red 5, DSL Brewers #2 Squad 4 Box Score and Game Log Team Dos drops to 24-21 and fell similarly to their island sibling, down by a 5-2 score through six innings, and then coming up a bit short in the comeback effort. With the tying run on second base with one out in the 9th, the final two Brewer bats lined out to LF. Power drought? Combining with the report above, all 21 DSL knocks were of the single-base variety, amazing. Thirteen singles for Brewers #2 here. Every Cervecero had at least one base hit except for second baseman Kevin Ereu, who was HBP'd. INF/OF Roderick Flores is still just 17 years old despite being in his 2nd DSL campaign. He turns 18 later this month. In 119 2024 plate appearances, he's posted a strong .267/.462/.372 line (.834 OPS), though the K rate is high. 17-year-old Venezuelan catcher Yoneiker Lugo has only played in 18 games, but his three hits in this one lifted his OPS to .780. One could make the case that the Team #2 lineup is more balanced than the star-laden more win-heavy club at the complex. 17-year-old southpaw Enderson Mercado had been outstanding in his three prior outings, but allowed five runs in five innings on eight hits, and unlike the Brewers, the Red Sox bats plated a cycle vs. Mercado on the XBH front.
  4. These DSL write-ups will appear as is in Saturday AM's Link Report: Final: DSL Red Sox Blue 7, DSL Brewers #1 Squad 6 Box Score and Game Log Team Uno trailed 7-0 heading to the bottom of the 5th. Scoring two in the 5th and then four runs in the 8th, Thanks to a stellar scoreless four-inning relief outing by soon-to-be 19-year-old Dominican RHP Wenderlyn King, the Cerveceros Prime were able to close that gap to just one run. Unfortunately, the Crew went very quietly 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 9th. King has been awesome, in nine games (five starts), he's at 33.2 IP, 37 K, 4 BB (7 HBP), 2.94 ERA, 1.14 WHIP. Six successful SB attempts in seven tries, shortstop Luis Pena now 39-of-43 on the basepaths. Pena was oddly removed from defense mid-inning in the top of the 8th, something to monitor. All eight Brewers knocks were singles, they also drew eight walks and were plunked four times, The organization will be hard-pressed to backfill the position player upper echelon of this top-heavy Team Uno club once the core four-or-five players eventually graduate. A review of the bench players and those lower in the lineup today reveals slim pickings. Hopefully just a normal rest day for mega-prospect Jesus Made. Now at 29-16, the boys are even with DSL Orioles Orange in the loss column, but trail by 1.5 games due to three less games played.

  7. Via WTMJ (Download Link): “Just a Bit Outside”: A New Documentary About the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers to Premiere at Marcus Theatres on September 13th. MILWAUKEE — The 1982 Milwaukee Brewers are hitting the big screen soon with a compelling new documentary titled “Just a Bit Outside.” The film is set to debut at Marcus Theatres throughout southeast Wisconsin in the next coming weeks. Director Sean Hanish and producer Kelly Kahl joined Wisconsin’s Afternoon News on Thursday to share insights into how this exciting project came to fruition. “Everything began on the golf course,” Hanish revealed. “I had the opportunity to play a round with Gorman Thomas, and it was there that the magic started. We exchanged stories, and after hearing a few, it became clear that there was something special here.” The documentary features an array of legendary figures from the 1982 Brewers, including Bob Uecker, Bud Selig, Gorman Thomas, Robin Yount, and Rollie Fingers. Their stories, once shared informally on the golf course, now come to life on the big screen, capturing the essence of a memorable season and its iconic players.

  13. Yeah, that June 24th release date (asked for) is not looking smart. Don't in essence tear the uniform off yourself even before the organization may wish to. That June 15-21 stint on the Development List (basically a minor league taxi squad) must have really set Thompson off. He has not circled back to the indy ranks either, where he spent seven prior years. You're pitching for the other 29 organizations as well, but only when you're actually pitching.

  19. Final, Completion of August 1st Suspended Game: DSL Brewers #2 Squad 6, DSL Dodgers Mega 4 The Dodgers' first run scored on a wild pitch in the first inning, and that 1-0 score after two innings carried over to Tuesday. When play resumed, we had the professional debut of 18-year-old 6'3" Dominican RHP Miqueas Mercedes. The young man retired the first two men he faced before a walk, HBP, wild pitch and a three-run blast. Welcome to the pro's. That would be Mercedes' lone inning, better days to come. What's that you say, a 4-0 deficit heading to the bottom of the 5th in a seven-inning contest? Have no fear, as Team Dos put up two in the 5th and a four-spot in the 6th for the win. That 5th inning saw four singles for the good guys, three coming with two outs. 17-year-old Venezuelan catcher (aren't all backstops Venezuelan?) Luis Corobo clubbed his 4th home run to kick off the 6th inning rally. Two additional 17-year-old's, 3B Roderick Flores (two-run single) and 2B Jonathan Rangel (RBI single for an insurance run) had sweet games from the bottom of the order. Nicaraguan RHP Josue Toledo was huge coming in after Mercedes' one-inning debut, as he tossed four scoreless to net the well-deserved win, which he closed out himself in the top of the 7th.
  20. Final, Completion of June 16th Suspended Game: DSL Brewers #1 Squad 4, DSL Pirates Black 3 *Just a reminder that box score lines will reflect stats through 6/16" A Luis Pena RBI triple was followed by a Juan Martinez RBI single to give Team Uno a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. An eventful top of the 2nd saw the Pirates first batter of the inning reach on a third strike wild pitch by Panamanian 17-year-old RHP Manuel Moreno, who has posted a 1.04 WHIP in his debut season. The very next batter doubled, but a 9-4-2 relay threw out that runner at the plate on a questionable send with none out. The very next man up clubbed a two-run HR, and there was additional action that inning, but Moreno limited the damage. The Cervecero Prime retook the lead on a Ludwin Tejeda sacrifice fly and then the game was called on the 16th after that 2nd frame. Upon resumption Tuesday AM, new pitcher Ayendy Bravo, the 17-year-old Dominican RHP and newly recognized for his outstanding month of July, did allow a triple to the first man he faced in the 3rd, allowing the tying run on an RBI double two batters later. But bravo to Bravo, who completed four innings without allowing another run. It remained tied until the bottom of the 6th of this seven-inning affair as normally light-hitting 2nd-year LF Joan Gutierrez smacked a one-out line drive RBI single. The run was unearned thanks to an error by the Pirates shortstop earlier in the inning. It was a perfect day for Gutierrez who walked in his prior two at-bats and added a stolen base. 18-year-old Nicaraguan RHP Ranwell Smith was brought on to close the game, and immediately walked the first two men he faced, A successful sacrifice bunt made things ominous, but Smith wrapped things up with a huge strikeout and then a flyout to left.
