Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Things are looking good for Milwaukee's DSL Gold entry, as just one week remains in the Dominican Summer League regular season before a period of round robin pool play kicks off the postseason schedule. Transactions: Wilson Warbirds released RHP Bryce Schaum. The BrewersFarm "X" / Instagram account lets us know Schaum's backstory and wishes him well via this post. Well, apparently what you see below is allowed. These moves took place after Monday's games. The Brewers aren't the only organization to take action such as this, as Monday's MiLB transaction page will show, but they were aggressive here. The five players sent to the strong Gold team are all having top-level seasons. The four players swapped to Blue are primarily reserve players who have struggled in 2026. Will it be a bit awkward should a trophy be hoisted after the league championship game Wednesday August 26th? Perhaps, but hey, go Gold! Catcher Moises Salazar (we are still contractually obligated to note that he is still 16 years old for three more days), led off the bottom of the 6th with his 4th home run, as the switch-hitter was batting left and yanked it to right field. Salazar again batted in a prime position and seems to be coaxing quite a bit of success from this staff as the primary catcher. Loving this player. The Brewers survived two caught stealing's in their six attempts and two errors by second baseman Santiago Garcia (12 errors in 35 games spread across the infield), so this indeed was a "fortunate" win. Two youngsters, both of whom have seen limited playing time, are third-year C/1B/DH Kegnnalex Seijas and second-year outfielder Francis Sosa. Each last appeared Monday July 27th. Watched the Jett Williams first inning at-bat in Memphis against former Brewers farmhand LHP Mason Molina (Grant Anderson trade to Texas, subsequent trade to St. Louis). Actually, if you have an MiLB.TV archived game subscription, the game starts with a seven-pitch Sal Frelick rehab debut at-bat - Sal buzzed by a couple of pitches, not super close, then grounded out to short at the 01:01:00 hour/minute mark here. Then it's Williams and on the 5th pitch of the at-bat Jett swings hard on a chest-high fastball and fouls it back (3rd foul of the at-bat), and you can see him grimace as he completes the swing and walks across the box and then back around before collecting himself. The home plate ump (Denver Dangerfield, great name by the way) actually then calls Williams out on a batter delay but then waives that off when he sees Trainer Jeff Paxson and Manager Rick Sweet come out to check on Williams. After a brief discussion, they walk off the field and Eduardo Garcia takes over the plate appearance, swinging and missing on the next pitch (strikeout assigned to Williams). Garcia also played shortstop, taking over Williams assigned position for the night. It would be unfair for me to do anything but speculate on the nature or severity of Williams' injury. He was not favoring his injured left wrist during the sequence. Could it be an oblique or something associated with his torso? Potentially. Timing is not great, because... If Joey Ortiz needs an IL stint, Williams' status comes into play. Non-40-man options include Garcia (a slick fielder himself), along with Eric Brown, Jr., Freddy Zamora and Ethan Murray. Guessing Garcia would be the play if defense is the priority. Of course, there's a 19-year-old phenom in Biloxi who has only played shortstop in 2026 (eight games at third base with Carolina in 2025). Luke Adams has started 21 games at third base for Nashville and is a strong candidate (near lock?) for a pre-Rule 5 draft 40-man roster addition regardless. Even if Williams was fine physically, the organization would probably want him to get more at-bats at AAA after missing a month of action, before a call-up. By the way on Sal, he would ground out to second in his next at-bat, and was plunked in at-bat #3, but it was a breaking pitch that got him in the upper back, no harm. Jeferson Quero replaced Sal as the DH in the 7th (likely a planned early exit for Frelick). UPDATE: Nice job on the tweet here, thanks. Hopefully my description matched up OK.
