  1. Instead of 3TO or whatever its called, it should be 3SO, because with Russell youre gonna get about 3 strikouts per game.
  2. I think Cirillo showed why he made this team and why he is IMO a better option platooning at third instead of Helms. He has the ability to hit and run, and last night he did a squeeze. Wes isnt that kind of player, and frankly, Wes isnt any kind of player. The fascination with him is beyond me. I know Jeff isnt going to return to his glory days, but in the long run, I think he will help the club win games, more than Wes will.
  3. Gee, they goota get a long-term deal in place. Through 2010, if possible... Yeah, I wish we would sign him to a 6 yr deal instead of a 4 yr deal, buying out this year. That would only give him 3 more years under what could turn out to be a fairly modest contract. But when those years are done, and Ben is still a top pitcher in the league, his price is gonna go even higher. With a 6 yr deal, you got him for 5 more and he is already 32 and probably wont command as much money.
  4. I think Santos ended up doing a decent job today. Got himself into trouble a bit, but made some good pitches when he had too. His changeup was good but the rest of his pitches were erratic. I think not playing Winter ball really has had some effect in terms of his command. I dont think he is trade bait or even on a short leesh. Maybe if at midseason he is struggling pretty bad, he could be moved, but only if someone at AAA is really tearing it up.
  5. Ben is hilarous. He just likes to have fun and play baseball. I dont think his contract situation will be an issue. He wants to stay in Milwaukee because its home to him and because he thinks the future is bright.
  6. well, if Damian can do for the brewers what Jake did for the Indians, then I will have to start calling him Jakey Miller.
  7. Why would the Brewers waste a 2nd round draft pick and a million bucks on a guy who projects as a reserve? Just because some poster here has "his" scouting report doesnt mean when Jack Z made the call, "he" thought Tony would only project to be a reserve. To give up on tony already is just foolish. He already plays very good defense, and if he can be a good contact hitter type, he could be an everyday CF in the future. If Scott Podsednik can play everyday the past three years, I think there is hope for Tony.
  8. Is anyone else getting nervous about the fact that we haven't been able to score many runs lately, especially since the regulars have started to play more? I for one am not getting nervous because Im expecting our offense to be below average again this year. No surprise to me they arent doing well right now.
  9. Why cant you, read the game threads every day. They are hilarious. Seriously, one day one guy is a god, the next day he is a chump. One day we are gonna contend for a playoff spot, or have a winning record, and the next we are destined to lose 100 games again. I cant help but find that really really funny. Also, Im not surprised you want to be like me, I get that alothttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. holy crap people, RELAX!! Jeesh! New idea, instead of getting all excited because someone went 3-3 in their second game of the spring and thinking they are gonna be awesome this year, and then getting all upset thinking they are gonna suck after going 0-4, try finding a middle ground. Again though, some of you actually thought this would be the year we were gonna hit 500? LOL!! I will believe it when I see it, but not until then, not with the scrubs we still have on this team, and the bullpen that is way below average in terms of success so far in the Major Leagues. I also laugh at those who said that people overvalue defense. LOL. Yeah, OK. see today, see yesterday, see last year.
  11. Frankly, after April, with possible rain outs, off days, etc, the rotation never ends up being in the exact order it was written down in early April. Pitching lefties back to back doenst really matter IMO, if they can get the job done, thats all that should matter, but like you said, this is Ned Yost were talking about here, common sense isnt his fortay.
  12. Cirillo can't play second in more than emergency situations. ------ he played second in San Diego a lot last year and did a good job per his former coaches. He can definately give Jr a rest here and there and man that pos. more than adequately. Like durrington is any better?
  13. any way we look at it, if we are relying on our 25th man to produce at a high level to win games, weve got serious, SERIOUS problems still. I think this is a non issue. Its the 25th man, having a guy with a decent track record of hitting, minus the past two years, and the ability to play two or three pos, is good enough for me. Plus, dont undervalue his leadership and work ethic, it definately rubs off on the younger guys.
  14. Krynzel - GONE! now 4-4. Yowsas. (6-0 Crew) I think with Clark hurt and not playing, Dave is saying "dont forget about me" Just because its easy for us to say its likely he goes to AAA because he needs to play everyday, Im positive Dave is doing whatever it takes to stay with the big league team. Nice to see him respond with a day like this with Clark out.
  15. Then where is Obbie he pitched better than Santos I think Obie is going to be the long reliever. Santos will still be the 3rd man, but Im thinking his leash is awfully short right now.
  16. In part because a bunch of people stayed home for the camp game, and also I imagine they're looking more at people who haven't made the team yet. --- Yeah, I noticed that it was an away game, Id much rather see Prince get the DH nod, and cirillo play second, but oh well, whats the point of looking at Durro? everyone knows he is crap and wont make the team.
  17. oh man, durrington? whats the point? Where is Russel or Wes? WHy wouldnt Prince DH?
  18. read this Obie article. Great insight on his offseason and what his attitude was coming into this spring. Maybe he has turned that corner, oncee a pitcher truly believes in himself, thats when you will know what youve got. milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com...p&c_id=mil
  19. But once again our starters are getting whipped and the defense has been shoddy. well, there will be reasons why this team will lose close to 90 games again this year, one of them being shoddy defense, the other being below average offense, and the last being inconsistent pitching.
  20. FYI, Ja, I believe you are incorrect when you say 6-4. Thats the SS to the 2b man. If its a ground out to short, its 6-3. 3 is the first baseman. Just thought I throw that out there so it doesnt confuse anyone. Clark - 6-4 Reed - 6-4, JJ robs a base hit behind 2nd
  21. Thanks for the information Hardy. I was searching and couldn't find it anywhere. Yeah, if you go to JSONLINE, and click on the brewer article and on the right side will have a link for camp report, click on that, and it lists the days starters. Here is what it looks like for future reference... BREWERS AND MLB REPORTS Lee not interested in rivalry (3/23/05) Then... Brewers Coverage Box score: White Sox 17, Brewers 9 Camp report: Wednesday at a glance
  22. not sure if anyone was going to state this, but here are the starters for todays game. Milwaukee RHP Ben Hendrickson (1-1, 12.00) vs. Seattle RHP Aaron Sele (0-0, 1.50).
  23. regarding santos, im sure his spot entering the season is safe, but I also think he could lose that spot real fast if he struggles bigtime when the "real" season starts. At least this year there are some options. DeLa is really showing me he has turned the corner a bit and could end up taking over if Santos struggles badly, moving cap to the 3rd spot and Obie as the 4th.
  24. From MLB.com Spring telecasts: Two Brewers Spring Training games will be televised. The games will take place on March 27 (against the Rangers, 8 p.m. CT) and April 2 (against the White Sox, 1 p.m. CT).
  25. If thats the case, then I would bet that Ned is on him bigtime right now. There is no excuse to not hustle in any game IMO. Even if it is spring training, this is the time you learn habits, good and bad.
