  1. Carra back into the 5th, gets another strikeout but then gives up a triple on a fastball right down the middle
  2. WOW, Fredericksburg's 3B Mota makes an insane play. Di Turi hits a hard grounder down the third base line. Mota fields it and throws to first while his momentum is still moving him towards the dugout to get Di Turi by a step
  3. Bouncing ball to right and Bitonti is out at second but Encarnación beats the throw to 1st and Ragsdale scores. 3-1 Muddies, 2 outs
  4. Romero is out and Angel Román (7.58 ERA) is coming in for the FredNats. Its now or never for the Muddies. Anderson pops up the first pitch to shallow left center and the SS gets it. One out for Handelfry
  5. Bitonti with a lined single and it's runners on the corners for Anderson
  6. Ragsdale draws a lead off walk on a full count. 4th BB for Romero who's at 71 pitched. Pounce Muddies!
  7. If it is indeed it for Carra, he's had another great game. 4 innings 5K k 1BB and only 1 run (which was aided by Walther's wild throw). That curve was good today
  8. Weak fly and Carra gets out of it. He's at 65 pitches so maybe 1 more inning?
  9. Ground ball to Di Turi and he makes the routine play look easy. Carra hangs a breaking ball and it a hard hit single. 1 on 2 out
  10. Walther is having a rough game behind the dish. Steal of third and the throw goes over Ortuno's head and into the outfield and the runner scores.
  11. Leadoff double for the FredNats. Uh-oh. 3 pitch strikeout on a high fastball as the batter swings under it.
  12. Ragsdale hits a flyout to center and the inning ends.
  13. And Walther comes through! A ground ball goes under the diving first baseman's glove and 2 runs score! Muddies lead!
  14. One pitch, one out for Encarnación. Right at the pitcher. Di Turi with a soft ground out to second. Ordonez draws a quick walk (3rd for pitcher Romero today). Lameda hits a double to the left field corner and its 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs for Mr. Walther
  15. Carlos Carra is back out. Gets a fastball by the batter for a swinging strikeout on a full count. Walks the second guy also on a full count. Pitch in the dirt. Oh man and a pitch bounces off Walther's mitt and the runner advances. Man on 2nd 1 out. Another full count and Carra gets a swinging K on a beautiful curveball. Grounder to Di Turi and the inning is over. A lot of pitches for Carra but he's looked good.
  16. Top of the 3rd in Fredericsburg, 0-0. Ortuno hits a weak liner to center and he's out. Ragsdale (after a questionable strike one) draws a walk. Bitonti hits one well but directly at the rightfielder. Anderson flies out to right-center. Bottom 3 next Btw, I admitedly know little about catching but Fredericksburg's catcher's receiving looks really rough
  17. Really hope the Muddies can end on a high. It's been a rough patch but maybe they can do something special onelast time
  18. Hopefully they get a win for birthday boy Mr. Rick Sweet
  19. Let me rephrase. I do not judge a player entirely based on that number. OPS, wRC+, etc are a lot more nuanced in determining who a player is. Average tells you something but it is extremely limited
  20. Unless average is under 180 or over 300 I dont consider it a relevant stat. And he's been marginally better (99 vs 96 wRC). I also think that when talking about trades at the deadline in-season stats are the most relevant
  21. (Oli Dunn for #15 a few years from now will be a generational pull) On base Jace!
  22. 51.3% hard hit rate, .820 OPS and 127 wRC+ vs lefties as a Ray. I understood the move and even liked it with Contreras not hitting well at the time. It just didn't work out 14.3% hh rate, .521 OPS and 52 wRC+ vs LHP as a Brewer. No clue why he cratered
  23. 3-3 vs Blue Jays and Phillies I'll take. Not the nicest losses but that's baseball. If they can go 12-9 or 11-10 for the rest of the season I will not mind. At this point, getting to the playoffs healthy is the priority.
