  1. Hey everyone. Don't chime in much but here goes. Doesn't this put the Brewers in a great position with Freddy? A Peralta, Woodruff, Mis, Priester, Patrick / Meyers/ Gasser rotation is deep and as good as anyone not named the Dodgers. So they get to hold out for a haul for Fred and if they don't get it, run it back this year and get the pick. Use Hoskins money for some thump in the middle of the lineup (not holding my breath.) I know everyone has a terrible taste in their mouths from the Dodgers series. But add back Garret Mitchell (pray for health) and one more bat, this is a still a really good lineup. Yeah, LA trucked us in the LCS but this is a really good team.
  2. Burnes has to be moved this offseason. A full year of Burnes to a big market team who could afford to resign him has to be worth 2 top 100 prospects and maybe a lottery ticket on top of it. Sign Willy in arby and maybe even extend him. He would be cheaper to extend after a down year last year and think that he has a load of talent. Would love to see what a top end hitting instructor would do with him. He is the kind of guy that will leave then OPS .900 the next year with a different team. Unloading Burnes is not a tear down. Their lineup should be better next year simply by the maturing of their young talent. Let Frelick bat in his natural position as a leadoff hitter. A full year of Garret Mitchell. Any contribution from Churio and Black will top what they got out of the 3rd base position and 4th outfield position. Sprinkle in a couple of vets (Santana, maybe Candelario - who they can absolutely afford) and this lineup should be significantly better than last year. Between Freddy and Ashby and Houser, one of the rooks and a FA agent signing - bring Miley back, their rotation won't be much worse than last year. We have to remember how much time Woody and Miley missed.
  3. Disappointed to not see Seitzer on any of the lists. Does anyone have any intel on him as to why? In looking back at his Braves teams over the last several years, he has clearly had some top end talent. That said, it has been fairly remarkable how even mediocre talent seems to hit when they get to the Braves (ie Orlando Arcia). Matt Olson (a really good hitter before) comes over and turns into Babe Ruth. I haven't seen his name mentioned as having interviewed for any team. Scratching my head as to why... I know Craig and Murphy are tight. Part of me thinks that we should just move one and get a whole new system. The other part thinks that having coached under Craig, Murph might have a good enough grasp of the analytics side while possessing a little of the old school 'hit 'em where they ain't" philosophy that Craig never seemed to embrace. Have to think that he might bring a little more fire to the dugout than Craig did. His 21 years in college ball might be valuable with our youngsters.
  4. First, happy to be on the forum. I have enjoyed the discourse. Second, I know that people are probably sick of all of the arm chair opinions on what has been wrong with the Brewers. I also don't think that it is fair to scrutinize every decision a manager makes. Craig has made a bunch of good in game decisions and a bunch of bad ones. The thing that frustrated me the most has been the hitter's approaches at the plate. It has been consistent through the Craig era. He clearly has preached the long ball at the expense of situational hitting. How many times do we see Brewer hitters flailing at pitches outside of the zone in zero strike counts? How many times do we see hitters roll over pitches on the outer half of the plate trying to knock the ball into the seats? Our ability to manufacture runs with RISP is gross. I know Craig is an analytics guy. I know that the analytics say its easier to score a run on one hit than it is three. So fine, rely on the long ball. But Craig's insistence on the analytics without any ability to adapt to the situation is the reason why he is an average manager at best - and, honestly, why he doesn't win in the playoffs. Anybody can read the stats and go with what the numbers tell you to do. I am happy to see him go. Keep the current pitching coaches and give me Kevin Seitzer in a heartbeat. Thanks for having me everyone...
