  1. Prince seemed to rush to the plate before they pull Roy
  2. Does anyone know how we rank with RISP? Seems like it must be low, as usual, and today it really showed. Left a lot on base
  3. My scorecard is a mess. These Reds just don't let up. And every hit is depressing
  4. We are so defensively challenged. That gets in pitchers' heads and then they try to be too fine
  5. Well, at least he got out of it with any further damage. He put a little extra into that last pitch.
  6. It sure would have been nice to have someone on for that HR. Prophet lives up to his name, props to you
  7. Yeah the rankings are very off here on him. He's probably a 9 or 10 speed. And an 8 fielding and 9 or 10 range.I will say, on the poster's own created scale of 2-8 ... a 9 or a 10 is very impressive. 2-8 is the scale for Lindy's grades. There is nothing higher than 8 and nothing lower than 2. It's common scouting grading like this old Twins scouting report. And 2s and 8s are very rare in that magazine. I'd say even 3s and 7s are rare. So Morgan's grades vary as much as any I've seen for one player.
  8. I'd be worried if he referred to himself as "Tony Clifton", but I'm good with "Tony Plush" and the trade. I like Lindy's preseason magazine's new ratings that they came out with this year, which are just old school scouting tool grades. Here's what they have on Morgan and Gomez, who they grade both as 2 stars out of 5 overall : Morgan: 4+ Hitting, 2 Power, 8 Speed, 5 Fielding, 7 Range, 4 Arm Slap-and-dash leadoff hitterLikes the ball up and hits down on it to keep it out of the airScuffles versus lefthanded pitchingDraws too few walksSpeedy CF with excellent lateral rangeCuts off balls in the gaps to shorten his throwsGomez: 4 Hitting, 4 Power, 6 Speed, 6 Fielding, 7 Range, 7 Arm Scale 8 Outstanding 7 Very Good 6 Above Average 5 Average 4 Below Average 3 Well Below Average 2 Poor
  9. Agreed, but MLB is a lot closer than other sports for the FIFA demotion/promotion thing. And on the annual division seeding, teams would probably have to be within a certain number of miles. His scheme has too many parameters (like NYY and BOS always being together). I guess if there was annual re-seeding, I'd think uniform rules across the two leagues would be a prerequisite (resolve the DH debate) and you could reseed across leagues. That guy was staying within leagues
  10. His plan is nuts, but there is an aspect of it that I think is a good idea... although it is radically different from traditional alignment... I like the idea of annually re-seeding the teams. I think all sports should go in that direction. It's more of an Olympic model. That would add more balance to any sport. I think soccer (FIFA) does something where the poorest performing team(s) goes down to a lower league and they bring up a team(s) from the lower league to replace them. I think that's real incentive on both ends. Imagine the excitement in a AAA city if they won and knew the next year they'd be playing in the majors. Or conversely if PIT was sent down... and couldn't fight it's way back up. That may be even more radical than the annual re-seeding.
  11. Kruk was tough on him on Baseball Tonight. McGuire sait that he wished there was testing in his day, while at the same time saying that he took it for his health. He said he was a MASH unit with all of the injuries. Kruk's point: with that logic he was essentially wishing his career was shorter and much less remarkable because the roids allowed him to keep playing and do what he did.
  12. 5 minutes on the O/U ovation in STL. But what will it be the reaction in other parks? Half the games are in hostile parks. It would have been more believable if he had admitted that he got performance gains from the roids. He could have said he's not sure how much, but, cmon, he was totally evasive on it. How could he not remember what he took? Bull. And instead of saying "I'm doing this for me", he should have said "I'm doing this to convince athletes to not do what I have done". I liked the genuine apologies to the Maris family. I liked that he seemed very sorry. And Costas was great. The only question he missed... "Do you think there were any effects you're feeling now?"
  13. Bush took a hard shot off of his pitching elbow and he tried to work through it. I say give the guy some slack on that alone. Seeing that video just makes me wince
  14. That was a great interview. Good to catch up with Junior. My kids still have his picture on their wall, so I occasionally see his face and wonder how he's doing. Good luck, Junior
  15. Ohhhhhhhh, LOL. Prince put on the gameface when the camera caught him laughing
  16. Parra may have turned up the heater too early. He was throwing 95 to the 2nd batter.
  17. Whoa, the cuts Corey were taking looked like he's got a long ways to go.
